The Apple folk in London and Belfast can't! I am trying to access the full range of Iphoto book themes. (I can only see 5.) I have reinstalled the the Application software twice but to no avail. The Themes are on the HD okay because I can see them in the 'Themes' folder. Iphoto just won't pick them up.

I would really like to have more variation with the books. Or if there isn't any place to download new ones from, is there a way to make your own? I know there are Keynote themes and iDVD themes, but are there iPhoto book themes? Or are they way too complex compared to iDVD and Keynote?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using iPhoto 09 and have selected a photo album to put into a book and am going to the option called Book at the bottom of the screen and then the selection at the top for Book Type. I have options such as hard cover, soft cover, and wire-bound software. The problem is they are all greyed out. Why is this? Do I have to somehow install these themes or book types? I have a photo album I have put together that I want to send to Apple to print.

anyway i am having trouble with iPhoto, when i try to create a book or card or calendar it claims that there are no themes, although i know that the themes are in HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Themes. This is confusing, and I NEED to have those themes for a book that i am creating. This is high priority, so basically i HAVE to get these themes back in.

I am running ATT DSL Extreme 3.0 and have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. I currently only get wireless in approx. half of my house, and the half in which I don't get it, will be needing it. So I am going to need to buy a range extender or wireless access point? I am a college student so I don't have a large budget, but I am looking for advice. Should I stick with Linksys and just buy one of their range extenders, or should I buy an Airport Extreme and hope the N signal is stronger? I am going to be sharing files soon when I get my Mac Mini HTPC setup going on in the living room to this from my other iMac's and MBP.
In summary, I am just not sure if it would be worth the extra $ for the Airport extreme or if I should just stick with the linksys.
I suddenly cannot access the several thousand photos in my iPhoto Library. I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete. I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

I've a 10.6 Server. On it, lots of services are enabled such as Address Book Server. I've a copier enable to connect to an LDAP server to have access to mail, fax numbers and more of users/clients. I would like to connect this copier to a user's Address Book. But, user's address book is on the server, and it's a CardDAV address book. Is there a way to have access to this address book trough LDAP?

My startup disk is full, and can't even get in to anything to delete stuff, how can I get in and move things to my external hard drive (which is what I was doing when it somehow became full)? All that happens is I reset the computer, when I turn it on it says the start up disk is full, I put in my password and the screen just stays grey. I also noticed before I started moving things that the "other" storage of my 60GB macbook air was over 30GB, but not sure how that could be/what it is. Mainly just concerned with getting the photos and things from my computer to my portable hard drive

There are 20 pages in the standard book. I'm looking to get an extra large book. Is there a way for me to delete some of the pages or do I have to use 20? The only way I can see is to put a caption below the photo using Photoshop or Graphic Converter, for example, and put that photo in the Book. That is a bit tedious. Typing directly into the Book would surely be easier.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been working on creating some books in iPhoto, and I'm running into all sorts of issues with Apple's "smart" page formatting. When I choose a page layout, iPhoto automatically changes the layout based on what type of photos you put where. For example: Say I choose a 2-photo layout for one page with 2 horizontal photo placeholders side by side (and large blank spaces above/below). If I drag a portrait photo to one of the placeholders, the arrangement automatically changes to 1 squarish portrait size, and one long landscape photo. If I drag another portrait photo onto the other landscape placeholder, the page automatically becomes a full bleed, 2-portrait page. This is 100% consistent and predictable - however this info appears nowhere in iPhoto or in Apple's support pages. Or anywhere that I can find.
Problem: It gets really complex with multi-photo pages. I'm using a few 6-photo pages, which the default template is: 1 big portrait, 1 regular landscape and 4 quarter size landscapes. I can't sort out the logic for the auto-formatting of this page. If I drag a portrait photo to one of the small photos, sometimes it changes the page into two normal size landscape photos and four half-frame portrait photos. This looks great when arranged on a diagonal, but there's no way to do that on purpose - and the iPhoto "magic" arranging is seemingly inconsistent here. (Often it stacks the landscape photos on one side of the page with 4 small portrait photos on the other - which looks chunky.)
<brief rant> Further infuriating is that the various full-bleed books have totally different formatting options. And "undo" does NOT undo magic iPhoto's magic format changes. </brief rant>
Help: I've googled the bejeezus out of this, and searched here for hours. Is there a helpful website out there, anywhere, that have these logic strings revealed? So that users can arrange photo books to look good on purpose? I can't understand why apple doesn't allow an "advanced" mode where the format box shows all the options, and have a toggle for "no magic auto formatting."
Note: I'm currently running iLife 11 on a up-to-date new MacBook Pro. However, I had the exact same issues with the previous version of iPhoto, so I believe the magic code to be universal.

My problem is as we went to Seymour in Victoria Australia, I type in Seymour and I'm given a dozen USA possibilities but I'm offered a search for my Seymour option. I take this, starting in Sydney and I drag the pointer to Seymour in Victoria (It says Seymour on the map) but in my book it changes the name to Mitchell. It does this for a number of stops. I could probably cope with one but when you go to 50 towns and you're showing off your clever Mac and all people go is I've never heard of Mitchell wheres that and I'm sure you can guess what my answer is, I don't know I've never been there. Particularly when the photo has Seymour Railway station on the photo.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis problem has been going on for a couple of months now. I use my macbook at 2 places: school and home. At school, when I click the school network under airport, it connects and shows the full bars. But when I open safari/firefox, the page won't load and I get the error message when you're not connected. However, sometimes after like an hour of persisting and retrying, it will be able to access the internet for a little bit for like an hour or so maybe, and then it'll stop working. At home, it's the same thing. It will connect to my home network (got wireless at home set up through my desktop PC), and show the full connection on airport, but it won't access the internet for the life of me. The difference is I can never gt it to connect unlike at school where it sometimes works, except that it worked for like one day out of the last 2 months (and I didn't change any settings then so it's not like I can attribute it to that). Also, I am absolutely positive that the networks of my home/school computer and the router settings etc. aren't to blame. Reason is that my friends with macbooks can access the internet both using my home network and the school network (the school one is obvious). What could possibly be going wrong? Any settings on my macbook that I can change / completely reset? Is the network card or something messed up? I'm contemplating just completely formatting my laptop to see if it fixes the issue. I have leopard installed btw.

Hopefully this spring Intuit will get the latest Quicken for Mac right, but I digress. I am currently running VM3 to boot into Windows 7 in order to use Quicken, and a few other things from time to time. But this new Modern Warfare 2 game kinda has me thinking I might need to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp in order to give it a try. With that said, if I install W7 via BC I'm I able to access the data on my Mac partition, and with full read/write access? Furthermore, do I understand correctly that VM will then allow me to access my BC install from within it, thereby having the best of both?
