Jun 25, 2009I just messed up the boot folder on my mac. i can get it fixed, but in the meantime can i access its music folder to sync my ipod? I am running 10.7 with a windows boot camp running xp. can i just go into the hidden folders and get the music folder out?

Dec 30, 2010I had upgraded my software to Leopard and after a year or so the HD crashed the week before Christmas.
I got a new HD installed and I loaded the Leopard software I had purchased. Today I noticed there is no iPhoto. It came basic when I bought the Mac in Dec 2008, I'm certain.
Do I have to buy the iLife to get iPhoto now? Wasn't it free at one time and came installed?

Jun 28, 2012I suddenly cannot access the several thousand photos in my iPhoto Library. I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete. I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

Aug 28, 2014It may be because my start up disc is full. But I can't access iPhoto to delete photos! When I try to update iPhoto (in case that's the problem) I get the following message : "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled". I don't understand this as I bought the Macbook. But either way I need to fix it.

Dec 7, 2007In iPhoto 06, in the finder, if you went to the iphoto library folder, you could select the photos in the original or modified folders. I'm using iPhoto 08 on my iMac and I can't do that anymore. For example, when I'm in Photoshop/trying to upload a photo to a webpage and I want to open a photo thats in the iPhoto Libraries Original folder, it won't go any farther than the iPhoto Library, there's no arrow so I can't get to the different folders in the Library. When I click on show file in iPhoto, it will show this location, but other than that I can't get at it. I'm running the latest version, just checked to see if there were any updates and there wasn't. I've taken screen shots to try and explain. the second one is when I try to get at it through the finder and the first one is when I click on "Show File" on a photo in iPhoto.

Jan 15, 2010When I leave iPhoto open for extended periods (which i'd like to do most of the time) it seems to hit the HDD pretty hard, constantly, slowing some stuff (particularly time machine backups!) considerably. I'm on an '08 imac, 2.8ghz, 4GB ram, 8800GT.. Snow Leopard.. It runs fine other than that.. I do have a 42GB library, 246 of the files are movies. A lot of the photos are RAW. Anyone experienced similar? And is there some way to stop it?

Apr 3, 2012Yesterday I installed the latest update of iPhoto 9.2.3 on my MacBook pro running 10.7.3 To my surprise I cannot access iPhoto anymore and get the error log (as hereunder) and the warning that I may have to reinstall the application. I live quite remote and have to drive 1,5 hours to the nearest Apple store and i feel that I should be able to solve this.for now I do not understand how to reinstall if all software was updated.

Aug 30, 2009Just got a new Mac Pro and used migration assistant... it didn't seem to go as smoothly as i remember it did last time...
My iphoto and itunes libraries did not copy over. I put my old computer in target disk mode but i can't even open the music folder or the photo folder in the user of my old mac. When i try, it tells me that "The folder "Music" can't be opened because you don't have th permission to see its contents"...
... and so i go to info and try to change the permissions to read/write, but nothing changes...
how do i get into these folders to i can copy them?

Jul 22, 2009I had an Apple "Genius" swap a hard drive from a MacBook 13" to a MacBook Pro 13". When I got it back, the hard drive was unreadable. The "Genius" said that he did nothing wrong and the problem was that the Hitachi hard drive from the MacBook was incompatible with the new MacBook Pro. My original MacBook was purchased in May 2009 and exchanged for the MacBook Pro in July 2009. When I booted the MacBook Pro from the installer disk, and launched Disk Utilities, my internal hard drive was blank/unformatted. How could the Genius destroy my hard drive just by swapping from one MacBook to another?

May 5, 2010My MacBook HDD crashed and I just had some questions. This is still in the middle of the quarter and thankfully my midterms are already over so I'm free till finals, besides papers. The problem is I was walking around my apartment and tripped over my chair, which caused the macbook to fall and the hdd to fail. I took it over to the bookstore for them to check it out and they said they could see the hdd but not the partition. I'm not exactly sure what this means but I need 3-5 folders out of my documents folder and the entirety of my pictures folder (completely forgot to back it up). I also needs my bookmarks from firefox and calendar/mail stuff (not sure if that's possible) What are the chances of this happening? I'm giving my mac to a buddy of mine who has a good friend that's a genius at the apple store in OC. I'm just wondering if I can get my information back... or I'm screwed for finals pretty much? On a side note I did order a new MBP so I guess I'll have half the quarter's notes.

Sep 9, 2014I have a boot issue that I've investigated the best I could :- CMD + ALT + P + R didn't fix it
- SHIFT + Power didn't fix it- Power + S in Verbose mode didn't fix it- Even restarting with the ALT key to choose the Recovery partition and reinstalling OSX Mavericks (successfully) didn't fix anything
- Of course, Permission Repair and Disk Repair (I did it more than 10 times) didn't fix anything as well.
The Hard Drive is working fine, as I've mounted it in USB as a Target Disk and I can access all its files and datas, everything's good.
So it's definitely and solely a Boot issue. When I start in Verbose (Power + V) mode, I have these last 5 lines that are the only clues I have on this issue :
BootCacheControl : Unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist: 2 No such file or directory
BootCacheControl : Unable to open /var/db/BootCaches/PreheatedUser/Merged.playlist: 2 No such file or directory
BootCacheControl : Unable to open /var/db/BootCaches/PreheatedUser/Login.playlist: 2 No such file or director
BootCacheControl : Added 32-bit shared cache to the low priority batch
And finally, it says:
com.apple.launchd 1 com.apple.launchctl.System 2 The system bootstrapper has crashed: Segmentation fault: 11
I don't want to Format + Reinstall. I want to fix it!
