I'm running OS v10.5.8 and Mial v3.6. When opening mail I see incoming message totals next to the inbox but no messages show up in the preview pane. If it is an Apple mesage [via RSS] it shows up. i've tried Rebuilding, Reindexing, importing my POP mailbox, and have plenty of disk space.

I finally switched to Apple's Mail app 4 months ago after 12 years of using Eudora (because of the inevitable - that Lion or Mountain Lion, when I upgrade, will not support the foundation architecture that Eudora is built on).There are (AT LEAST) two functions available in Eudora that I very much want to do with Mail and currently cannot figure out how to do. I'm hoping that someone knows of a plugin that will do these functions, or will write such a plugin, or will tell me how to make this suggestion to Apple to include in a future update.
1) I want the freedom to EDIT a received message - to correct a subject line, or make it more relevant for my reference, or add a key word/prefix to the subject for future searching and archiving, along with being able to edit the message itself, so that it is the equivalent in a book (or an eBook) of adding comments/marginalia for future reference. (In my opinion, once I receive an email message, it is MINE - so I should be able to do what I want with it (which includes the responsibility of not rewriting a message to resend to appear as deceptive or fraudulent).
2) Write up a draft email, that would reside in the "Send" folder of Eudora, and for which I could select a time in the future that it should be mailed (dependent on the fact that Eudora would be running at that time, else it would send the next time Eudora was opened. I would LOVE to be able to do that in Apple Mail. Rationale: Often, when I receive an actionable email, I want to respond at that moment while the subject is fresh, but due to priorities or scheduling reasons, I don't want the response to go out just then. Maybe I want the response to go out after an event three days from now, but I want to process the message right now, and I don't want to have to remember to make a ToDo item to remind me in 3 days.
My .mac mail is being*received*on my blackberry but not on my mail programme on my laptop. My other email accounts are being received in mail on my laptop. Also Mail is running super slow and the only way to close it is through force quit.
The clock symbol is displayed next to the .mac account name in mail and even when i put the .mac account offline it keeps trying to download showing the ticking wheeling symbol or whatever it is called. Also when mail is open all other programmes run super slow and half the time safari does not work at all saying the system is not connected to the internet.
How do I get mail received on a macbook to an iMac?

It seems the my Mail app never makes the new message received chime, unless the mail app is on top and the active window. I have it checked to play the chime in pref.

When sending emails adn using apostrophes (e.g. We're, they're, it's) the recipient (on a windows machine running Outlook) sees all the apostrophes as question marks.Â
Rich Text vs Plain Text doesn't address the issue.Â

I had a class of 25 students email me from their mobile phones all using the same subject. Now I'd like to create a mailing list / group so that I can easly contact all of them if need be. I tried creating a new group and dragging all of the emails into it to no avail. I also tried right clicking and checking the menus to see if there were any options which there weren't.Â
I'd be open to using automator or something similar if it worked.Â
I cannot receive mhy me.com email on Microsoft Outlook on my iMac. I keep getting the message, "Mail could not be received at this time. The server for account 'iCloud' returned the error 'Authentication failed.' Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?" Reentering the password seems to have no effect and the above message repeats itself.Â

I have a Mac OS X 10.6.1 I have been having trouble with my MAC Junk mailbox. For a while it worked very well and I was able to review junk mail. All of a sudden, I am receiving no junk entries in my junk mail box. Preferences: Enable junk mail filtering, When junk arrives, move it to the junk mailbox, sender of message is in my my address book, sender of message is in my previous recipients, filter junk mail before applying my rules. My husband's computers use Tiger and Leopard (10.5.8) to access his email on the Mail program. His mail is from Comcast and uses the Comcast server, not apple or iCloud. His mail suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago.....as it did on one of my machines that still uses Tiger. He had not done any updates that could have broken the software. He does not have iCloud except on his phone and he doesn't even have a .mac address. There is no reason for the comcast server to not be able to be accessed by Mail app. He did finally update everything that needed it and it still does not work. Why would Apple's change over to iCloud break email access from other servers and how can we fix it. He really doesn't want to do his mail on Comcast's web site as it's slow and awkward.Â

But before I do, is there a way to download all the emails from my mail server from all time? I only set Leopard's Mail client up on March 8th, so I only have emails from March 8th and after on Leopard. I want to have email from since I registered my Gmail account years ago.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a rule that copies an email to the ON MY MAC and then another that MOVES TO A FOLDER in Mobileme. They are in this order. The problem is when I quit Mail the Folder I am copying to is changed to the Mobileme folder so I end up with a duplicate. It doesn't change until Mail is quit. The other odd part, there one arragement like this that did savef at some point and works as expected.Â
I have tried having both of these rules combined into 1 and have the same results.
When I try to change the settings for my Mail app, in Snow Leopard, the incoming mail settings are greyed out. What do I do to be able to change these?Â
(I had a problem, with my Mail account, which a consultant fixed for me on my laptop. But I cannot remember what he did to access the incoming mail server preferences, and make the changes, because on my desktop these are still greyed out.)

One IMAP account is intermittently losing all mail in inbox except for one message. After doing opening program the receive wheel spins for a long time, but at this point there are only 170 emails in the inbox because we moved all the rest to the on my mac inbox to try to solve this porblem. There are two accounts, both from the same provider, but one of them takes a long time to receive new mail.  The wheel spins for a long time - each time it gets mail.Â
Several times after finishing receive cycle, all the mail that was in the inbox disappears, except for one. I was able to get the emails to retrn by going into settings>accounts> and changing a random setting and then changing it back the way it was. All settings appear to be correct and match the other other account that is working correctly.Â

I just installed some routine updates for my Mac and now I can't receive any mail in my apple mail program. It is version 4.5 and I am using a mobile me account. I've got 2 gmail account in my mac mail. One of them stopped display new mail on 24/5/2012. The last mail that I've got is 23:45pm 23/5/2012. When I try to get new mail for that mail box, the mail ativity shows they are loading 43 incoming messages. However, once the loading is done, nothing shows up.Â
As I said i've got 2 gmail accounts in the mail and the other account is working fine. Â

Since updating to Snow Leopard 10.6.1 Mail.app has been unable to retieve IMAP mail from my OS X Leopard 10.5.x server running the standard cyrusd. Does anybody have any clues? Mail just sits there syncing the mailbox forever, it never stops. If I turn on logging to file, it just continuously FETCHes from IMAP and never ends. It's driving me mad. My iphone can get the IMAP mail from the same server absolutely fine. I added the mail account to a new OS X Snow Leopard user account, and that also failed to get anywhere. So its not corrupted data on my MBP. It doesn't appear to be corrupted data on the OS X server either, as the iPhone works.
