All of a sudden another mailbox appeared in my list of mailboxes. It has the same name as another mailbox. There is nothing in it. I can't get rid of it!

So far today, we've got about 10,000 new messages in our mailbox but they're all old ones that were deleted long ago. If we try to delete them now, they come back again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have never set up Time Machine on my Macbook Pro.I have several Mailbox's or Folders inside my email system or Mac Mail.I wanted to clear some of the less used folders out and so I exported them to another folder on my desktop.Then I deleted the folders or Mailbox's from inside the Email system or Mac Mail.When I went to the folder on the desktop to see the exported emails, there was nothing you could read, it was all jibberish or crazy characters.What did I do wrong and how can I retrieve those important saved emails?

I have sent a message with Apple Mail 7.3 on Mac with OS X Mavericks 10.9.3, and it shows DUPLICATED in the Sent mailbox of Mail. I mean, two entries with the very same message inside are displayed, yet, as said, I only sent it once! I am using POP.
Selecting "Mailbox - Rebuild", quitting and opening Mail, repairing permissions with Apple Disk Utility, restarting the Mac, and even resetting the PRAM does not fix it. I have seen the following article, but cannot find the "MessageSorting.plist" in Mavericks that it indicates: How to Fix Duplicate Emails Sent From Apple Email..URL....
how to prevent this duplication behavior (beyond deleting one of such messages, which, of course, I can do); I mean, to fixing whatever is corrupted and prevent such behavior happening again in the future? What is the equivalent of "MessageSorting.plist" in Mavericks to do what indicates the above article?

I did something really stupid... I have been accessing my GMail account using POP access and Apple Mail.app. I switched over to IMAP online, went into Mail.app Preferences, deleted my POP account and was about to re-add it as an IMAP account when I noticed that the e-mails in my inbox were deleted when I deleted my POP account. I checked ~/Library/Mail and the folder was in fact deleted. Is there anyway to recover that folder? Not all of the e-mails are still on GMail's web interface.

I have tried a few times to get rid of the box, but it will not leave. All the settings are still there, it still goes after mail and still allows me to send mail from that account. How do I 100% get this unwanted mailbox in Mail?

Under Trash I have 'POP Account' and 'On My Mac'
When I select a message and press delete I get a warning saying:
The message ... could not be moved to the mailbox Deleted Messages POP Account
The destination mailbox Deleted Messages POP Account does not allow messages to be moved to it.
I can drag a message to the 'On My Mac' folder and select delete and this removes the email - but seems wrong.
This is my first mac (first day), im used to a deleted message going to a bin which you choose to empty as and when.
I've just accidentally deleted the Hotmail mailbox from Mail. Mac says it's removed 'permanently' unless Time Machine is on, which is not. Does anyone know any other way I can add Hotmail to Mail again?

View 1 Replies View Relatedive got a decent sized itunes library, 20,393 songs/125.5 gbs of music in the program, but over time as i have added files a lot of times id get duplicate files so i would delete those, and when i deleted them i didnt always press the move to trash button, and just for what ever reason would sometimes press the keep file button, so now at this point after doing this for a while i now have a music folder that is 168gbs of music, when i really only have 125 in itunes so is there any program or way to automatically delete those duplicates, because it would take a rediculous amount of time to go and find and delete each one individually obviuosly.

I have 3 mailboxes in "Mail." It suddently started showing spinning circles by all of them, and I am getting "reports" from each of them that they can't connect with the server (timed out.) I am using Snow Leopard. An odd behavior has recently appeared. On some (but not all) occassions, when I send an email from an IMAP account, after the email is sent successfully (confirmed by a copy in the Sent mailbox), a second copy appears in the Draft mailbox.
The account is a gmail account (but @plessthan.com rather than gmail.com).
Of note, about a month ago (well before this started happening), I converted from POP to IMAP. To do this, I set up a new IMAP account in Mail, then rendered the POP account inactive.

I have multiple older Time Machine archives from different Macs that I have been going through manually and picking files out and copying them to another drive file by file. I'm running into massive quantities of duplicate files and the biggest problem is muliple iphoto pictures including the same picture in different sizes.
I wanted to give up and just throw the whole Time Machine archive onto another disk so I could format the one it was on and use it for something else. But I got a message reading, "The backup can’t be copied because the backup volume doesn’t have ownership enabled." So I went to manually copy each "Macintosh HD" folder for each date into it's their own respective folders. It worked but required my password for each folder and each of the 19 folders were all ~75GB. Which is impossible because all of that data was on a 500GB drive.
I have a few people who send me email ALL THE TIME (like 20 - 30 per day), unfortunately, I cannot delete or block them b/c occassionaly I need to read something they send me.... anyway....
I'm wanting to have their mail automatically skip the inbox, and go to a Mailbox I create for them. Unfortunately, Smart Mailboxes seemingly should have this ability, but I can't fingure it out. When I delete an email (that the Smart Mailbox has in it) from the Inbox, it disappears from both, so if I could "Auto-delete" it from the inbox, it would seemingly auto-delete from the Smart Mailbox too.
