OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Copy Of Email Remains In Draft Mailbox After Successful Send
May 24, 2012
I am using Snow Leopard. An odd behavior has recently appeared. On some (but not all) occassions, when I send an email from an IMAP account, after the email is sent successfully (confirmed by a copy in the Sent mailbox), a second copy appears in the Draft mailbox.
The account is a gmail account (but @plessthan.com rather than gmail.com).
Of note, about a month ago (well before this started happening), I converted from POP to IMAP. To do this, I set up a new IMAP account in Mail, then rendered the POP account inactive.
I have never set up Time Machine on my Macbook Pro.I have several Mailbox's or Folders inside my email system or Mac Mail.I wanted to clear some of the less used folders out and so I exported them to another folder on my desktop. Then I deleted the folders or Mailbox's from inside the Email system or Mac Mail. When I went to the folder on the desktop to see the exported emails, there was nothing you could read, it was all jibberish or crazy characters. What did I do wrong and how can I retrieve those important saved emails?

I'm suddenly unable to send an email. For no apparent reason, I now get the message: "The SMTP server “smtp.me.com” rejected the password for user “jt0229” Enter your password again or cancel."
I don't even know what this password is. From what I can tell, it's not the same pw as for "me.com".
I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard Version 10.6.8. Can't receive nor send email. I have two email addresses using ATT. One address works, the other doesn't. The bad address is behaving weirdly: In Mail, in the "On My Mac" folder labeled "Recovered Messages," the contents refer to one email sent with a PDF file (19.7 MB). This email keeps cloning itself, and I keep deleting them. I resorted to deleting the PDF file from my computer. No luck. I recently changed my email addresses from AOL addresses to ATT (powered by Yahoo) addresses, in case this has anything to do with it. Have shut down computer and modem twice with no luck. The Mail Activity window is wild with activity, none of which I understand.
Maybe I'm a dumbass and missed something obvious, but in Leopard Mail, in the New Message window, there's a drop-down menu where you can choose which email to send the message from. But in Snow Leopard, the drop-down menu's not there, and I can't figure out how to choose which email address I want the message to be sent from. The only way I could do it is to click a message sent to that email address, then click New Message, the message will then send from that email address.
Just recently i sent an email (yahoo mail) attachment to my friend. She got the email but when she opened the attachment it loaded and was blank, with nothing there.I think she has a window computer, if that helps.I sent it to myself. It showed up on my mac(obviously) but the attachment was blank on my ipod touch.
I have a few people who send me email ALL THE TIME (like 20 - 30 per day), unfortunately, I cannot delete or block them b/c occassionaly I need to read something they send me.... anyway....
I'm wanting to have their mail automatically skip the inbox, and go to a Mailbox I create for them. Unfortunately, Smart Mailboxes seemingly should have this ability, but I can't fingure it out. When I delete an email (that the Smart Mailbox has in it) from the Inbox, it disappears from both, so if I could "Auto-delete" it from the inbox, it would seemingly auto-delete from the Smart Mailbox too.
I can receive mail without problems, and reply without problems, but when I try to compose and send a new outgoing email, I cannot find the send button, unless I go to the main tray in mail and click send. The icon does not show up in the toolbar options.
When I send an email, why does it also show up in my "Drafts" mailbox? Is there a setting in my preferences that needs to be changed to prevent this from happeing?
Sometimes I can send mail and sometimes I cant. When I can't I sometimes get the 'problem with outgoing server address' message, but the address is correct. Sometimes test messages sent by me to me go into the Important mailbox but not into the Inbox.Messages that have failed send end up copied several times in a folder called Bin.
I have 3 mailboxes in "Mail." It suddently started showing spinning circles by all of them, and I am getting "reports" from each of them that they can't connect with the server (timed out.) I can got to the websites and see the mail Ok, however. How can I fix this? I've tried to delete all of the mailboxes, but they stil show on the mailbox list.
So far today, we've got about 10,000 new messages in our mailbox but they're all old ones that were deleted long ago. If we try to delete them now, they come back again.
I have recently switched to MacMail. But all my inward mail is going to the Spam folder. How do I prevent that? And how do I transfer the e-mails from Spam to the appropriate mailbox?
My "smart" mailbox is showing messages from the "All Mail" folder of my IMAP account folder in addition to my Inbox. Is there a way to work around or stop this so I don't see duplicate messages in my smart mailbox?
I have an IMAC 5.1 with OSX 10.6.8. When I restored a mailbox using Time Machine, the mailbox appears in Apple Mail however no emails are visible even though they are present in the folder in library/mail/mailboxes in Finder. how I can make the emails visible?
I am running OS 10.5.4. The problem is with Apple email.
I have one draft message that refuses to be deleted. When I highlight it and hit delete, it just turns grey and does not delete. I can add new drafts and delete them just fine. any ideas? I have tried clearing the user cache to no avail.
I cannot tell if this question has gone through, so please forgive the repeats. Simply put: I want to retrieve a draft email I had deleted by mistake. Please give me direction as I have tried using a few applications today, such as DevonthinkPro, and could not find any indication of drafts, just sent or inbox emails.
My ISP sent an email that they want me to change the port my email program uses. They said most programs use port 25 and they wanted it changed to port 587 because it's safer. I called them to clarify and the tech had me change my Mail 3.6 preferences/advanced from port 995 to port 110 which he said was safer. Doing so renders me unable to e-mail so I switched it back to port 995. He couldn't figure out why 110 wouldn't work and suggested I contact Apple. I need to make any changes to my Mail account or not based either on the message from my ISP or the change the tech was trying to make. Unless I hear otherwise I'm staying at 995.

My emails just the name of the sender remains bold even after I read the email, making it look like it's not been read. Is this the way it's suppose to look or should the boldness go away?
I run Mail 7.3 on OS 10.9.4. I have 3 different mailboxes and Mial stopped sending from the different mailboxes and uses only one. I went to preferences and ensured this specific mailbox was not selected but that the setting to send from the selected mailbox was used. I even tried to use a different setting, selecting to send from a specific mailbox...still the same. Send always from the same one whatever the parameter selected.
