For example, instead of displaying Andromeda Galaxy by default I would rather display my own wallpaper. I hope there is a file I can replace or something, so I don't have to keep changing the picture after I attach my computer to a new external monitor or projector.

when i switch on my macbook pro it shows the default wallpaper even though i had changed it to some other wallpaper even though i change the wallpaper again after shutting down and switching on it shows the default wallpaper

This is really pain and didn't good for me.
Why my Wallpaper reseted each time I restart my MacBook Pro? This is not just resetted but also all my wallpaper configuration set back to the default setting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently had to turn off my MacBook Pro after it hung for a long period of time. When I turned it back on again everything started as normal and I was able to enter my password at the login screen. However, once I do so I'm just presented with the wallpaper and my (working) mouse pointer. So far, I've tried the following without success:
1. Boot in Safe Mode
2. Ran fsck from Terminal
3. Tried PRAM reset
I've seen it suggested elsewhere that I should insert the install DVD but that's not in my possession unfortunately.

While doing this they completely messed up my airport settings so now I cannot connect to my home network. Is there anyway I can reset the network settings to default like they way they were before? My printer, an HP Officejet 8500A, has reset itself at 66% and everything printed comes oout too small. how do I change the default setting back to 100%? I can do this via the drop down print box but I'd like to make it a permanent fix.

I'm not sure why but whenever I go onto the internet, my wallpaper disappears and it turns blue. If I want to restore it I have to click on a different wallpaper in system preferences then click back to the one I want. Any ideas?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone else have this happen to them - i.e. their preferred sound volume setting was not saved after 10.6.2 was installed? It's not a problem per se, because sound output still works normally, and the volume can easily be changed back, but still... it strikes me as odd.

I want to reset the default ambient brightness, because it stopped changing by itself after I manually changed the brightness with the keyboard. I made sure that ambient light changing was enabled in the System Preferences. From past experience, I think that deleting the preferences.plist file will do the trick, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

Quite a while back, I had a real problem after installing some software from source that changed a lot of environment variables and stuff. Undoubtably, trying to rectify the situation without enough knowledge just exacerbated the problem.
Anyway, I still have a lot of frustrating problems when working in command line. For example, I just got an error telling me gcc isn't installed. Well that's unlikely, considering how much compiling I tend to do outside command line! However, whereis gcc does nothing.
Basically, I want to just reset all the problems I have caused and just set my paths back to default. I mean everything. Problem is, I dunno what they should be, and I don't know where to start. I know I have to sort my .profile, but even that is a bit taxing.
Which files should I be changing, and what changes should I make
Over the years my finder windows have been set to different colors, font sizes and so on. When I make a change I select the make default box in the show view options, but they never default except for that one finder window. I have erased com.apple.finder.plist and just for fun the com.apple.sidebarlists.plist but can not get the finder to go to a true default. Is there another plist that I am missing?

I was trying to modify my monitor settings and hit the detect monitors button by mistake thinking it may help a sizing issue. Now after start up white screen with apple in the middle the monitor goes blank. Is there a way to restart while holding down keys to reverse this since I can't see anything on display?

Just bought my MBP(late 2011 model) from a friend of mine and it is now registered under my apple id. I am trying to reset it to factory default but it prompts a message 'This apple ID has not purchased lion' when installing lion. Any idea how to resolve this?

A couple days ago after restarting my imac I was shocked to find that my personal preferences had been reset to default and that some programs were behaving like they had just been installed. Firefox for instance asked me to import settings from safari, after skipping importing i found that all my bookmarks and add-ons were gone.

If I reset Safari, it will often crash if TOP SITES is the first window Safari reopens with.
The crash may also be aggravated by my attempt to type something in the search bar, right after I reset.
I have now set Safari to open with a homepage, and now I can reset Safari at will and it no longer crashes after a reset.
