Jun 9, 2009Historically I have had two matched monitors. I maintained two wallpaper folders, one for the left monitor and one for the right. My wallpaper cycled randomly taking pictures from the appropriate folders for the respective side once a day. I didn't use any add-ons, it was just the basic Desktop pane. It was perfect. Recently I purchased a lovely new monitor and decommissioned one of the old ones. The new monitor is widescreen so I made a third wallpaper folder for that one and set everything up to match the way it was before. Every day when the wallpaper refreshes, both monitors now pull from the same folder. I have deleted all but the widescreen folder from the list in System Preferences for the widescreen monitor and it still somehow keeps pulling its pictures from the same place as the remaining old monitor.
If I go into System Preferences, it shows that it's pointing at the widescreen folder correctly and manually clicking random on and off again to reselect a new wallpaper will pull it from the correct place. It's just when it's automatic that it screws up. I'm not sure I've explained this well, but the result is that I have to manually set the widescreen monitor's desktop picture each time or enjoy a horribly stretched image with the wrong alignment. In the long term I will replace the other old one so this won't be a problem (I'll just delete the wretched old folders entirely), but why is OSX going bonkers in this way when it's never had the problem. I could just decide on one static image until it's fixed but I like an element of chaos in my computing, just not a stretched image.

Apr 16, 2012How do I change the default wallpaper that appears on the external monitor's I attach to my laptop? For example, instead of displaying Andromeda Galaxy by default I would rather display my own wallpaper. I hope there is a file I can replace or something, so I don't have to keep changing the picture after I attach my computer to a new external monitor or projector.

Safari Changed / Can't Find Default Settings
Feb 3, 2012Safari seems to have changed and I don't know how to get back to default preferences. Suddenly, it is wiping (visual) open, rather than opening the way every other application does with the last site visited, even though preferences are set to open with homepage. The top apple bar with the apple on the left and my name on the right hides when safari is open

OS X :: After Update Can't Change Desktop Wallpaper
Aug 15, 2009I just did the newest security Apple OS X update and after rebooting the default Apple wallpaper was back on the desktop. I tried to change it but nothing will override the Apple wallpaper.
If I go to the Desktop settings, it shows the image of the wallpaper I have selected but its not shown on the desktop. How can I correct this?

Feb 14, 2007I'm not sure why but whenever I go onto the internet, my wallpaper disappears and it turns blue. If I want to restore it I have to click on a different wallpaper in system preferences then click back to the one I want. Any ideas?

Now, when I open my email and many web pages - notably google, it seems as if the default viewing font has changed.. even the text on the "submit" buttons and things like that has changed...
and whats worse is the new font is barely legible. I don't have any idea what has happened or how to fix it... can someone please help, this is really annoying!

May 10, 2012I have a problem after updating to 10.7.4. It seams that the red color has changed after the update. I can notice it in the US flag for the keyboard layout. I have no idea what to do. I have tried to use different color profiles and calibrate the monitor, but nothing helped. I think maybe it is connected with the fact that I didn't disconnect the external monitor while the update process.
I had an issue with the red color before while I connected external display and used only it. After I disconnected the display the red color changed itself. At that time the reboot only helped. But recently I started to use both displays of my macbook pro and external one and the issue with red color did't appear any more. And now after the update the red color has changed and I don't know how to return it back.
I've just made a clean install of Lion on monday and everything was perfect. Now I don't want to do it again. It took the full day of setting my system. I don't have time for the second time. I need to Work! I have MacBook Pro 17" of mid 2009. The external display that I use is Dell 2408WFP.

App Store :: Update Not Recognizing Changed Email Address?
May 13, 2012has any one else had a problem using the app store for updates? It recognizes my new e-mail address everywhere except for in the update portion of the program. Because of this issue, I can't update my apps easily.

May 15, 2012I was running a high resolution just fine for the last month or two on my screen, then after todays update and restart my desktop came back at a much lower resolution (1024) than previous and now some of my apps wont even fit in my screen. When I navigate to system preferences to toggle resolutions, the one I have now is my only option. How do I reset the resolution if I cant get to it in system preferences

Jun 5, 2012I had Win XP servicepack 3 installed via bootcamp. Recent OSX updates changed bootcamp and it supports now only Win 7. I was not informed about this change. So to be able to use my Win XP applications again I bought Win 7 Pro 64 bit OEM. The CD will work until I have to install and format the new created partition. I cannot choose between FAT or NTFS the installation continues and Windows will be unpacked. The counter remains on (0). Nothing happens further.

Nov 20, 2010Once i installed the latest safari update and the computer restarted, my date settings were changed to December 31, 2000. Also, random programs popped up, asking if i should allow or deny them. As well, i was disconnected from the internet. I'm not quite sure what has caused this.

Mar 28, 2010I'm in the "waiting for Arrandale" camp and am considering one of the intel SSD's. All of the reviews suggest updating the firmware. I'm not too experienced with computers and would like some information on what that process involves. Aside from that, I would also like to know the easiest way to transfer the files on the default HDD to the SSD. I will likely use the SSD as the main drive (i don't use too many files), and the HDD for additional storage. So questions...1. If anyone knows of any walkthroughs of how to update the firmware and get the SSD up and running, could you give me some links?2. What is the best way to transfer all of the default stuff on the HDD to the SSD? I've heard this being referred to as "cloning" the HDD and would appreciate the best ways to do it, any necessary programs, etc.

OS X :: Looking For Wallpaper Folder?
Aug 21, 2008Not that long ago, I found the folder that contains all the wallpaper backgrounds - I think it was somewhere in the Library? Anyways, after I found it, I added some of my own wallpaper images to the folder, so that they showed up in the pre-set folders of Nature, Plants, Abstract, etc, and not in my New Desktop Wallpapers folder. Well, now I have some new backgrounds I want to add, and for the life of me I can't remember where I found that folder before! I looked in the Library and the closest thing there is the Screensavers folder, but no wallpapers. Anyone know where this is located??
