i need a good usb hub that can be powered off the other usb port on my 13in macbook pro cause i have a portable usb hd that when one usb port wont power it can get power off the other and operate but that claims the other port
View 2 RepliesI had a powered USB hub attached to my computer, w/ a mouse and two printers attached to it. For a while, it seemed to work fine, but then the printers wouldn't work, and I had to connect them directly to the computer. I decided the problem must be with the hub, so I went out to MicroCenter and bought a new powered hub. Again, it seemed to work for a while, but then the printers again wouldn't work. There aren't enough USB ports to run all my peripherals so I have had to disconnect a backup USB hard disk. The hub is now disconnected entirely, and I have to switch connections around. Needless to say, this is a pain.

I recently got a Macbook and have a iPhone and iPod shuffle. The thing is there isn't enough usb ports on the Macbook so I had to get a hub. The hub I got IS self powered and does not require a external power adapter. My concern is that I am withdrawing too much power from my usb port through this hub. It is a 4 port hub and a External HDD ( has own power supply), Optical mouse is connected to it. also I charge my iPhone and shuffle via the same hub.
I am afraid that there is power limit feature and it will fry my computer. I notice if I boot in boot camp to windows. Windows will display a error message telling me, I am not allowed to have this many device drawing this much power. Anyone know if I should be okay as long as OS X doesn't give me a message or should I really consider getting a USB hub with its own power adaptor?
Which of the two USB port has full power, not shared with everything in the Mac?

3. Diamond Vid Card (for multiple monitors)
That's it so now I need to find a hub
So I just go a new umb 13 and since opening last week the battery only charges to 99% after the first charge (went to 100% only the first time). I ran it down once to see how long the battery would last and when i recharged it, it says its fully charged but only at 99%. I then tried calibrating it but it once again stop at 99%. It has 3 load cycles so far. Is this normal? if this has been asked before im a newbie to a mac and i tried searching for it but couldnt find anything.

Do i go with a 4GB setup 11.6 inch laptop or spend the extra 300 to get. better cpu, better battery life, SD reader and More screen re-estate.I don't want the macbook air to be too fast that it will replace my 2007 macbook (which will soon be a mac-mini 2.4GHZ). I just bought the $1199 Macbook Air (2012). It works great but the start up time from when I hit the power button is significantly slower than my 2011 Macbook air. My 2012 takes about 35-40 seconds to boot-up. My 2011 takes about 15-10 seconds. I have downloaded all the updates and restarted several times but every time its still 35-40 seconds, Is this normal for the 2012's?

Recently I bought Macbook Pro 13inch Mid 2012 and seeing very low battery life around 1.30 -2:00hours. Moreover laptop get quite hot sometime.

This is one of the biggest problems i have with my macbook. It has only 2 USB ports... on a regular basis i need atleast 4 USB ports and sometimes 5... What should i do about it ?I used one of those china made USB hubs (with colorful leds) but the speed of access to connected devices becomes really slow. I need a really high speed USB hub.

I've got all the latest boot camp drivers installed, I've tried viewing different videos trying to see if the video was the culprit, but unfortunately it wasn't. I searched around and I've seen others with this issue, but haven't found a fix.
I've watched the same videos in Leopard that I did in Vista and they're a lot louder.

It's like a burned image, like you would get on a TV. I didn't do any physical damage to it, I know that for sure. Here's a photo. The charger has been playing up for a while now - the light going out but coming back on when I move the cable a bit - faulty connection it seems. It has now stopped working at all. Apple UK charge a whopping £65 for a replacement - and the reviews are AWFUL for it, but I can't use my MBP without one.Â

Sometimes there's a USB HUB written in there. What is going on? I've tried switching from a rather generic hub to a Belkin one, and most recently I just plugged in my aluminum keyboard and immediately got a KP. They've been happening with regularity over the past while, all when I unplug or plugin my USB hub with an iPod touch, keyboard/mouse, USB drive and headset (though recently I've been removing peripherals). I'm about to do an archive and install (assuming my MB works long enough for me to download the combo updater) but want to kill this bug soon.
What kind of USB hub are you using with your Airport extreme? I would like to run my printer and external HD's off of it, but I'm not sure what kind of hub to buy.
Does it need to be a powered hub?
Find it a bind that the iMac does not have readily accessible USB ports. They are on the back but in my situation to turn the monitor round is a bind. Bought a small USB hub but this does not seem to work with half the devices I want to connect.
Anyone any ideas or suggestions to buy a hub that will work with all devices. e.g iPhone etc.
My Mac Mini had the Belkin un-powered hub but it seems underpowered. It adds 4 usb and 2 FW800 ( big deal ).Â
I wanted to add a powered 7 port USB plus this belkin hub but don't know in what order.Â

last night my MacBook Pro (13inch early 2011 model) froze on me so I let it be and closed the lid. In the morning it was still frozen. I did a hard restart and got the question mark on a folder icon. I tried everything, resetting PRAM, etc, etc. Northing seemed to work untill I plugged in my external hard drive (used as my time-machine backup) and I got to the re-installation/ utilities / safari / restore from backup screen. In the utilities it saw my external hard drive, but not my internal main drive. Any ideas? I've read hundreds of similar posts and nothing seems to resolve an unseen hard drive. Oh btw I plugged in another SATA HDD and it didnt recognize that either.

View 5 Replies View Related I share a quite common problem. My macbook doesnt boot-up.It does power on and gets into the booting up process but nothing happens...
To be more precise, after powering on the MB, the grey display appears and after a while the apple logo and the circle of lines starts to move around.
After that nothing else happens...
I ve tried everything possible... SMC reset, PRAM reset, verifying the disc by booting up either from single user and check it with fsck or with the booting disc and run all the verifying tests and the repair ones... Everything there were just as NORMAL...The OS refuses to open either in normal mode, or at safe mode or even the verbose mode, though it does boot up in single-user mode.
I even took out the HDD and place it in a HDD cover and then plug it as an external device to my other MBP. I run the tests once again but everything seems to be NORMAL again...The only thing that is left to check is whether the boot files have any problem...
Will Apple's external Superdrive work through a powered USB hub?
Or does the Superdrive need to be plugged directly into the MBA?
Are there any other USB devices that will only work directly plugged in?
I bought a Belkin powered USB hub and hooked my MacBook Air Superdrive to it and it won't work. I was under the impression it would in a powered USB HUB. Anyone share any experiences with me on this?
