View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a mid 2010 13 inch macbook pro in the mail about a week and three days ago. Couple of days after doing some work with it, I noticed a little fiber (dust) approx. 1 centimeter long that is lying underneath the glass cover for the display. Anyways, I called up AppleCare, and the support adviser told me that she could either replace it, repair it, or just give me my money back. I certainly don't want a replacement, since most of my software cannot be installed on multiple machines without having to deal with the developers directly.
So my only options are to either get it repaired, or deal with it. Since the repairs would be free, it is what I'm leaning towards doing, but I have read some cases where people send their gear in to Apple to get dust removed, only to get it back with more dust, or even worse: they replace the display entirely, and it happens to contain dead pixels! Also, over time, even if your display is perfect when you first get it, do these displays tend to get dust behind them anyway? (if that makes sense.)
So I just go a new umb 13 and since opening last week the battery only charges to 99% after the first charge (went to 100% only the first time). I ran it down once to see how long the battery would last and when i recharged it, it says its fully charged but only at 99%. I then tried calibrating it but it once again stop at 99%. It has 3 load cycles so far. Is this normal? if this has been asked before im a newbie to a mac and i tried searching for it but couldnt find anything.

[URL]
I've tried a couple other cards that have been lying around, but none of them fit in the two pci slots. The pictures of the Stallion GE-II on the website show that the copper connectors don't match the motherboard PCI.
This is the hardest decision for me. Do i go with a 4GB setup 11.6 inch laptop or spend the extra 300 to get. better cpu, better battery life, SD reader and More screen re-estate.I don't want the macbook air to be too fast that it will replace my 2007 macbook (which will soon be a mac-mini 2.4GHZ). How are you guys liking your 13 inch vs the 11.6 inch? I see more people at the mac store going nuts over the 11.6 inch.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought the $1199 Macbook Air (2012). It works great but the start up time from when I hit the power button is significantly slower than my 2011 Macbook air. My 2012 takes about 35-40 seconds to boot-up. My 2011 takes about 15-10 seconds. I have downloaded all the updates and restarted several times but every time its still 35-40 seconds, Is this normal for the 2012's?

Recently I bought Macbook Pro 13inch Mid 2012 and seeing very low battery life around 1.30 -2:00hours. Moreover laptop get quite hot sometime.

I've got the latest MBP 13inch with Vista installed on Bootcamp. I've turned the sound all the way up and it's still very low. I've got all the latest boot camp drivers installed, I've tried viewing different videos trying to see if the video was the culprit, but unfortunately it wasn't. I searched around and I've seen others with this issue, but haven't found a fix.
I've watched the same videos in Leopard that I did in Vista and they're a lot louder.
Could you somehow put the 8-hour battery of recent macbook models, into the macbook book late 2008 model?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out what happened, and what is wrong, with my computer screen. I know it's not a dead pixel, since it's still visable. It's like a burned image, like you would get on a TV. I didn't do any physical damage to it, I know that for sure. Here's a photo. It's the ghosty off-white area that's on the left hand side of the black rectangle. (I made it back so you can see it better on camera, it's not the problem).Â

I have a MacBook Pro 13inch 2.4GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM, 250Gb HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, SD card slot, up to 10 hour battery life) bought in October 2010. The charger has been playing up for a while now - the light going out but coming back on when I move the cable a bit - faulty connection it seems. It has now stopped working at all. Apple UK charge a whopping £65 for a replacement - and the reviews are AWFUL for it, but I can't use my MBP without one.Â
View 3 Replies View Relatedlast night my MacBook Pro (13inch early 2011 model) froze on me so I let it be and closed the lid. In the morning it was still frozen. I did a hard restart and got the question mark on a folder icon. I tried everything, resetting PRAM, etc, etc. Northing seemed to work untill I plugged in my external hard drive (used as my time-machine backup) and I got to the re-installation/ utilities / safari / restore from backup screen. In the utilities it saw my external hard drive, but not my internal main drive. Any ideas? I've read hundreds of similar posts and nothing seems to resolve an unseen hard drive. Oh btw I plugged in another SATA HDD and it didnt recognize that either.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm sure I saw an Ad somewhere at MR for a company that make a quite expensive but really nice looking Macbook shell - one in carbon and one that looked iridescent. But I can't for the life of me find it! Does anyone know what I'm talking about.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI ordered some 3M Di-Noc Carbon Vinyl off eBay (~20 CDN Shipped) to wrap the top shell of my Mac. It turned out pretty good (I think) especially how the reflection from the pattern changes according to the lighting around it (unlike cheaper ones where it's just a printed pattern on a glossy sheet), close to how real carbon fibre would shine.
The vinyl was pretty easy to work with. I took the top shell off (iFixit) so it's easier to cut the apple logo out and also wrap around the edges. Other than the tools to take the shell off, all you need is a hairdryer for the corners and a cutter blade to trim the excess material.
If so, do you use them and what sound system do you have?

What possible damage could be had to the logic board if I were to go ahead and give this a try? Â

I bought a Retina Macbook a couple of days ago, and rather than migrating with Setup/Migration Assistant from my old MBP (2.26GHz, running 10.7.4), I wanted to start fresh & manually migrate the stuff I want to keep for the new machine. My intention is to wipe the old MBP with a fresh Lion install for my wife. As a precaution (in case I forget something crucial) I made a Carbon Copy clone of the old HD, saved onto a 2TB Seagate Backup Plus external drive. The Seagate is USB3, with optional adapters for Firewire and Thunderbolt.
I formatted the drive & setup 2 partitions, both MAC OS Extended (Journaled), GUID partition, one for the clone, the second for general storage, and the clone process went smoothly. I checked that I was able to boot from the clone on the old MBP, with no problems. However, when I attempt to boot the clone on the Retina MBP, I get the grey screen & no entry sign. Same if I try through system prefs, startup disk. Why the clone will boot onto the old MBP, but not the Retina?

it is possible, but however some of the hardware features may not be supported by Fedora unless the Kernel can be patched such as back-light, iSight etc etc.
