For some unknown reason (well to me at least) I keep getting the following come up when I surf the next with Safari. I have done nothing as far as I am aware to the settings & my imac worked fine for the passed 4 months
Anyone have any ideas??
I used to be able to surf the web wirelessly on my Macbook laptop over my home network with no issues. I have Verizon FIOS router. Now, every time I try to run Safari I have to re-select my home router and type in the WEP password, every single time. I tell it to save the password to my keychain and it just doesn't remember my previous connections

View 2 Replies View Relatedit's a random thing, and it's happening to all 3 accounts I have in Mail. When it happens a box comes up and says that I need to enter the password. I have it stored to save and when the box comes up I click "remember my password" but it keeps coming up. it's not ever day, it's random.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSafari keeps giving me popup windows saying a keychain can't be found. It's only just started doing this but it's really annoying. Could it have anything to do with the fact I installed a new flash player? That's the only difference I can think of.Also on another computer it keeps asking for a password to access the keychain. It only does this on one user account though. Any assistance is gladly accepted!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a Mac-mini running OS X Tiger. I've got one admin account setup and 5 or so standard accounts. I'm configuring a connection to a shared folder on a network server on the standard accounts and I wanted to connect to that share using an account id that is DIFFERENT than the standard account id. I enter that id and the correct password and I check "save password in keychain" (or whatever that check box says) and I get prompted to enter the "keychain password" to unlock the keychain. The problem is, I never setup a keychain password for the standard user account. I'v tried the password for the administrator account (even though I can't specify the admin id anywhere) and I've tried the password for the standard user account, neither of which work.
However, I can still get successfully connected to the shared folder. I just don't want the user to have to enter the password each time they login.
Additionally, after going through this, Safari is now asking for a keychain password for the "login" keychain when it first starts up and loads the default Apple.com home page.
1. when i first startup my macbook the finder doesn't appear at the very top of the screen and my trash will not open as well.
i think this problem occured when i clicked force quit on finder and now i cannot retrieve finder. i am not a computer person so i don't know all the mac slang. any suggestions?
2. when i open safari it always asks for a password and anytime i search something it asks for the password again how do i turn this off?

I am trying to uninstall Virex 7.5. I have got the Terminal uninstall command which opens Terminal. So far, so good. However, Terminal is asking me for my admin password but it's not allowing me to enter it. The cursor is not blinking it's just a solid black oblong - just bl**dy sitting there! Absolutely no response to any key except the enter key - then terminal helpfully says, 'Sorry, try again' What's going on? I just wanna get rid of Virex!!!
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor the last week or so I've been having an increasingly regular problem with Mail. Upon launching, the app opens a dialog window saying, "Mail can't connect to the Google account 'Gmail'. Enter the password for user (username)." Then when I enter the password, the app crashes. Sometimes clicking the "Cancel" botton allows the app to open, but sometimes that results in a crash as well. Also, when I can launch Mail successfully, sometimes when I try to send mail, the outgoing mail will sit in the Outbox unsent.
I've been getting these warnings with both my Yahoo and Gmail accounts. Until a few days ago I was using Yahoo as my primary account, but the inability to send mail caused me to switch to Gmail as my primary. After a couple days of smooth sailing, I'm now getting the same errors with my Gmail.

I was downloading microsoft software last night and all of a sudden I began getting these little pop-ups that say "A keychain cannot be found for safari" with the option to cancel or reset to default.
how can I fix this so it doesn't happen?
I've never used OSX before about a week ago, but I am picking up on it well (I've used GNU/Linux for almost ten years so I know my way around an operating system). But I don't really think keychain access is working as it should...It's hard to explain. I mean, the way I understand it, shouldn't it be saving the passwords I type into Safari and auto-filling them? Because it only auto-fills some passwords. Paypal autofills, but my bank's website doesn't, and even this forum doesn't autofill. I have to type in my password every time I visit.
Is this working as intended? Is there a way I can get Safari or Keychain to fill in all passwords for me automatically? This is leopard on an iMac G5 iSight model. I did a fresh install like a week ago. Sorry if my question is vague but that's the best I can do with the amount I understand.
My girlfriends Macbook has this popup about every 2-3 minutes while youre browsing the web. She doesnt remember ever setting a "keychain" password, and tried to type in the password that she uses to log into her macbook, but apparently it's not the same password. What can I do to get rid of this if she doesn't know the password? Can I delete and then reinstall Safari? Do I need to reformat and install the entire OSX? Should I just use Firefox and forget about Safari?

On my iMac, at times I get prompted, other times I don't.
I just downloaded handbrake and installed but there was no PW prompt.
The day before I installed a plug in for Quicktime and was prompted for a PW.
How can I get so that I get prompted for a PW every time before anything gets installed?

I have an account for my parents, and they don't need a password, but if they try and install software etc - it comes up with the Password Prompt window. Obviously, you don't enter anything into the password field and just continue on, but seeing how there is no password in the first place, why does it still ask for one?

When I turn on my Mac mini it asks WiFi connection password eveytime.it does not save the password. I tried everything.it is too annoying and my children do not want to use it. Even worse when wakes up from energy saving mode asks both passwords.

I have enabled the prompt for a password when waking from screensaver and this works fine as long as I respond to the password prompt quickly. However, if I don't respond fairly quickly then the password prompt disappears leaving a black screen with just the mouse pointer visible. No matter what I type I can't bring the password prompt back up and therefore can't gain access. The only way I can do this is to press the power button and wait for 5 minutes or so before bringing it back out of sleep and typing my password more quickly.
The machine is a new iMac 2.4G 24" if that makes any difference. All latest updates applied.
I would like to disable the login password prompt when I boot the computer. I cannot seem to find a way to do that.

I pressed "option" to switch between drives but it came up that I needed to put in a password. I know the password anyways. Here is what I am getting at, is there any way when I boot my computer it can ask me for the password before getting to the desktop?

View 14 Replies View RelatedBoth iCloud and FaceTime are continually prompting for passwords. Hitting 'cancel' usually dismisses the iCloud box, but the FaceTime box just keeps reappearing.
I don't want to enter either password until I'm ready to, and I especially could care less about FaceTime because I don't use it on this computer. It can go away completely. So how can I shut it off and tell it to stop bothering me?
Looking to stop the password prompt from coming up every time I try to delete a file after enabling SMB file sharing for my administrator account (while working with files in that account). Everything else works fine with regards to file sharing.

I have my password and hint set up so that only people close to me will be able to figure it out in case they ever need to use my laptop, however at the moment the hint doesn't even show up. Also, I'm aware that you can change the text to the login page for user accounts, but is there any way to change the text for the screensaver login prompt? If so, where would I find it in "Library"?
