i have a movie that was on bluray 720p and it was a MKV file so i converted it to AVI so that i could stream to my ps3 from my mac using medialink and when i tried to play the file it wouldn't work from my ps3 but worked from my imac. It had a error code
When I try to play a video in the web browser, the video won't load. It stays blank and sound plays ok.After posting this here, I was told to erase my quicktime preferences file. It works and the problem is solved - but only temporarily. Minutes later, it happens again. I'm sick of erasing this file all the time. What can I do?!

View 8 Replies View RelatedAll the iTunes songs that I have purchased in the past 6 months and converted to mp3 will not play in my Harley Davidson radio. I have several mp3 CDs that I have created over the last 2 years that work just fine. The latest discs that I have tried to make (at least 6 times) will not play any new songs. The older songs on the disc play but the radio skips through the recently purchased songs that were converted to mp3 in iTunes. Odd as it only affects the recent purchases. Is there something new happening with the latest update of iTunes or the iTunes Store? BTW I have checked the MP3 button when burning, I have tried three different kinds of CD-Rs and all the usual possible troubles.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems playing .avi files with my computer. At first it was running 10.6 and after being upgraded to 10.7 the problem is still there.
I have been trying to install different codecs -- Perian(1.2.2 & 1.2.3 and uninstalled DviX first), flip4Mac, etc, but everytime i try to play an avi file with quicktime player X, it says that quicktime player can not open the file 'A required codec is not available'.
I have also tried to open the file with Quick Player 7 and VLC, the strange thing is that the video 'plays' (the sliding bar is moving), but i see no video in the application window -- it was just all black.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 2011 Mac Mini running the latest version of Mac OS-X and iTunes, output to a Samsung D6530 Television and for some reason I can't seem to play HD movie or TV show content purchased through iTunes. 99% of the time I don't get any error message at all, just a scrambled signa (sound is fine)l however, the one time an error message did appear it suggested the TV did not support HDCP (High Def Content Protection). Looking at the documentation that came with the TV it does support HDCP so I can't figure out why it doesn't work.

It's not that it has an error when trying to import, it's that it won't even let me import it - the file is unselectable in the file browser for importing. Today, I had an mp4 video and I just dropped it into iTunes where it will play there just fine. However, it will not sync to my iPad. So, I went into the iTunes Advanced menu and had iTunes convert it for the iPad. Even that video will not sync to my iPad. I don't get it. I just converted it with Toast and now it will go on my iPad thru iTunes. I don't get why it doesn't work when iTunes converts it.

Simple question I have downloaded a few seasons of Southpark and other tv shows in hd how do I burn them to a dvd or get them to be able to play on my ps3. I have vista home premium 64 bit and can't get it to stream through tversity. I do not want to buy an appletv I just want my shows to play on my tv in hd and not have to hook up my ipod. I have a program, Jing, that saves my screen recordings in to .swf (which I think is an adobe flash player) but I can't really watch them unless I am running that program, then I can watch it as a saved file, but I want to use it as a .mov (or maybe a .flv, .m4v, .avi so I can at least convert it with the program i have) in iMovie and such. Is there any way I can convert these, or any software I should get to do so?

I use MPEG streamclip and sometime i get an error after converting saying that file cannot be played, not a movie file. thought when i play it in AVI format it works fine. View 9 Replies View RelatedIve noticed that a couple of websites that have only .wmv available to download movies. I am running a Mac G4 with OS Tiger and Opera/Safari/Firefox for the net. I can easily play wmv's with my QTpro and or VLC.
The movies that I typically DL are usually 300 to 400 megs. They completely DL on my browser (Opera, Safari, or Firefox) after about 10 minutes or so. However once I DL the .wmv files onto my harddrive , they show up at only about 3 or 4 kb!!?? So thats about a total of like .2 seconds of play back!!?? Therefore one second of total playback.I believe this is not an Apple vs Windows issue, but something else. Any ideas?

Able to play the stand alone video but not the streaming video URL.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an old DVD custom made from old super - 8 home movies. It plays well in a home DVD player meant to plug into the TV. My MBP 15" mid-2010 8x SuperDrive optical drive cannot play this - on calling up the files to be played, I see a folder with grayed-out files. Furthermore, I can't get out of the DVD player easily and have to do the Force Quit to shut down the program and use Disc Utility to eject the disc. (I use Disc Utility to dismount all types of discs, by habit).My SuperDrive works fine for commercial DVD movies, reading and writing CDs, etc. The "home movies" DVD's file extensions are: .vob, .ifo, .bup. The "home movie" files are:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB and so on for the chapters
Do I need to have the "home movie" DVD remastered in a different format?

On my iMovie, i can't get asf, avi, or mov video files to work. It would only show up as a white screen and take 15 minutes to load to imovie. But when i convert my asf to mov with a converteri downloaded, it took like 1 hour for a 30 second video, it worked and only took like 1 minute to load on imovie??? Is there any video codec for my imovie or a really good video converter?
View 3 Replies View RelatedA few years ago in high school trip to europe i made an imovie hd project. i am on a new mbp and i have a backup of my old mbp and when i transfer the file macintosh hd->user->movies->europe movie project it doesnt seem to bring the video with it (i cant even locate it!) i opened with imovie and the old imovie hd and the same thing, no video file! any ideas as to where the video files are located? im freakin out here lol

I open it back up to check on it and *poof* it's completely gone. I searched my hardrive and the file exists but it will not open with iMovie or Quicktime. Is there any way to recover this video?
