So I literally just spent hours putting together a video for school. I exited out of iMovie knowing it was supposed to save the file on its own. I open it back up to check on it and *poof* it's completely gone. I searched my hardrive and the file exists but it will not open with iMovie or Quicktime. Is there any way to recover this video?

A few years ago in high school trip to europe i made an imovie hd project. i am on a new mbp and i have a backup of my old mbp and when i transfer the file macintosh hd->user->movies->europe movie project it doesnt seem to bring the video with it (i cant even locate it!) i opened with imovie and the old imovie hd and the same thing, no video file! any ideas as to where the video files are located? im freakin out here lol

I have Leopard and I was working in iMovie on a project and when i finished i went to save it and then the color wheel came up for over 5 minutes and then it automatically shut down imovie! i lost the whole project that took me over 5 hours to do! i still have the DV files that i imported, but not the editing that i did! i havent used TIME MACHINE due to the fact that i dont have a external HD. View 2 Replies View RelatedAlright so I was making this video that was really really really difficult to do and I got to like 3:00 of it today and I've been saving, then it just freezes and refuses to do anything. I then realise my external drive somehow turned off for a random reason, so I plugged it back in and it started working again, but then I reopened my project and I get this error

I click on ignore all and it's all in the trash, and what really pisses me off about this is that it took me weeks and weeks and weeks of time to do, there's no way I can redo this all over again. What can I do to get rid of the skipped message and make it all work again�
I'm in SL using iMovie (not iMove HD). When I make a project I can't seem to save it. Apple S doesn't work and there is no save option under any menu in it. Also, if I quit without saving there is no save prompt...

Today, I opened up my project and I could not play the project (the red line would move, but no picture would show up in the upper right hand corner box) and ALL of the options in the "share" tab were gray and unable to click them. Many options in the "edit" and "file" tabs were unable to be clicked as well.
Another project i completed months ago is working perfectly. The clips in the events play/show up on the window in the upper right hand corner
I was making a mix and I was almost done, and iMovie '09 crashed on me. I see it in the iMovie projects folder, but when I click on it, it loads up iMovie, shows the clip for a second, then disappears.How can I get my mix back??
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to export a two hour movie to watch on dvd after editing for 4 months, and was running on 12gb left on my macbook. I then tried to export it HD (8gb) and it eventually failed, saying it had no space left. Even though the movie wasnt exported, it took my 12gb left down to 4gb, so I tried high quality exporting, and it almost finished but failed right at the end, complaining of no space, and even when the file wasnt where I asked it to be it still took my memory away, now leaving me with 400mb. So i finished my first ten-minute long short film, i'm really proud of it. I wanted to share the whole thing in 1080p HD and then import it into after effects for some finishing touches. I did sharing < media sharing < 1080p hd.
1. Where did my movie go? it doesn't show up in iMovie anymore, and I found a big file over 1GB which appears to be my movie (but no way is it in 1080p, and I filmed with a sony HDR xr520v). I cant put that back into iMovie nor after effects.
2. Can I import this file into after effects cs4 and then re-export it in an equal quality?
I have a 2GB m4v file that I wanted to use iDVD to create a movie for. But even taking it off of Best Performance and instead using High Quality, the movie is too large to be burned. It's showing it as a 4.81 GB project.
I'll admit my ignorance here...what gives? How does a 2GB file grow that large when being encoded as a DVD?
I need a free converter that will convert a WMV file into a file that iMovie will recognize. Also, an application that won't leave a watermark on the video.

My HD had 101Gb free space. This morning there was an error warning that the project could not be completed because the HD was full. I checked and there's 0kb of free space! How do I fix it? get video recorded from my cell phone (motoroala Hint) imported into imovie so I can edit the video and merge clips. The file extension of the video file is .3g2 . Quicktime will play this video, but imovie apparently does not support it. I have found a number of different video apps by searching forums (iskysoft imedia converter, handbreak, mpeg streamclip, applemacsoft video converter) of which only iskysoft imedia converter does what I want to do. The only problem is the trial version does not convert audio and has "evaluation copy" imprinted into the video. The full version costs $50
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a project file that was created using iMovie 5 HD. In this project file were a large number of unused clips and also the final film, edited with transitions, backing music, end credits, etc.
However when I import this project file into iMovie 8 I cannot find the final edited film anywhere, just all the clips that were both used and unused within the project file.
How can I get the final film back without spending about a week re-editing everything?
So, I have all of my imovie projects backed up on my external harddrive, as well as the imovie program. I accidentally deleted all of the imovie projects and events from the imovie application on my laptop. When I try to re-import the imovie files into imovie, it doesn't recognize the files. I have tried to convert them with iSkySoft Video Converter. That converter program does not recognize the files either. I also tried burning the files onto a disc and then pulling them off the disc with the Handbrake program. This doesn't work either. I also tried importing the files into iMovie HD, which I have on my desktop, but to no avail. Are these files alll useless now? I'm at my wits end because I have spent literally months compiling footage for a documentary.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a dead La Cie Big disk terabyte external drive. It won't mount and it isn't recoverable the way it is. So I looked inside, it's 2 x 500 gig Seagate drives. So, I took the 2 drives out and installed one of them in a Mac Pro to see if it would mount on it's own. I figured probably not, since there were two drives mounted in this La Cie external case, they must have been RAID-ed together. I don't really know much about RAID, obviously.
Disk utility saw the disk, but it wouldn't mount and gave the unreadable message. Tried to disk utility it, and it gave file system errors, not surprised. It looks like you can't separate them, the RAID must split the files onto the two disks.
Is there any point to trying the utility Data Recovery on it? Or should I just tell my boss the only way to get the data back is to send it out to a data recovery place? I don't want to try and reformat them if there is still any possible way to get the data off them. I think the drives are fine and would work as a terabyte drive in the Fantom case if reformatted, but then we lose all these important projects.We seem to have the worst luck with external hard drives.
The odd thing is that I have another dead terabyte drive, a Fantom drive in which one of the 500 gig drives started clicking. I took both 500 gig WD drives out of the Fantom case and installed the two Seagate 500s from the dead La Cie case. It shows up in Disk Utility as an unformatted 1T drive. I was hoping it might just reconstitute itself in another case, but no go. If worse comes to worse, I will reformat it and it will probably be useable.
Ok so I have my project in iMovie 09. I select a portion of the project, hit clip adjustments so I can speed it up, and then it just reselects the entire clip. Is there any way I just get a part of a clip and speed it up once it is my project?

What I'm trying to do is take a 5 second audio clip from a piece of video (a bunch of 3 year olds screaming happy birthday) and use it as audio over a still image to start the video. I detached the audio that I want to use, highlighted it and copied it. I can't figure out how to use it elsewhere. Maybe it's not possible to do this in iMovie 09?

I am having weird problems with Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 and it's functionality with Snow Leopard.
Based on feedback I found online, I am being told to delete the com.apple.FinalCut Preferences and the /User Data folder. Still, I have to do that repeatedly. Whenever I open the Project file externally , FCP jams. Afterwards, it won't start up again.
Also, it is claiming not to recognize an DVCPro HD 1080i60 connection ; although, this is the same camera on my G5 Mac with FCP 5.1.4 and OSX Tiger

I want to know if there is way to take Video TS files and convert them straight into a .DV file so they can be edited in iMovie.
My situation is that I use a program like Mac the Ripper to extract a DVD into the Audio and Video TS folders. My step 2 is to use Handbrake to convert it to MPEG and then MPEG-Streamclip to convert it to .DV
The problem I am having is that while this process works, the final product video quality is slightly off. I know that the loss is either in Handbrake or the MPEG-Streamclip program. How can I go straight to DV, either through a program or straight from the DVD?
I have a 27" imac and mostly use it for music. I got on today to put some music on my iphone 4 and to my surprise I have like 12 songs in my itunes library. These songs are a free sampler cd download which I downloaded the other day from Austin City Limits Music Festival. Where did all my music go? Please tell me I haven't lost 35 gigs of music!! I do have an external hard drive that is supposedly used for backing up. Is it possible the music is on there, if so how do I go about getting back into my itunes?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up my sequence so it is DV PAL 1024 x 576 and I can't seem to find the option. My sequence currently says it is 720 x 576.
I can import clips as 1024 x 576 but when i put them in the sequence it cuts the top and bottom out and when i tried to scale them in the sequence window it wouldn't let me but in the source window I can see the edges.
