OS X :: Unable To Know About Blue Highlights
Oct 15, 2010
Getting rid of random blue highlighting by Nancy Holloway.
I posted a message a week ago on "Pure MAC newbie" forum, but no one has replied. How can I solve this problem? Or, if you don't know, where could I find the answer?
I'm using a new MacBookPro with Snow Leopard. After installing Parallels and Windows 7, the system started behaving weirdly (blue highlights show up randomly in Pages and email messages when I scroll up or down).

While surfing safari my macbook pro will randomly start highlighting wherever I move my cursor. It happens randomly and it is annoying because I can not get it to stop and it refuses to click on things because the text icon is displayed as it is in highlighting mode. I was wondering what is causing this and how I can stop it?

Working from OS 10.4.11 on PowerBook G4, iMac G5, and (early) MacBook. Have noticed while working in Entourage 2004, and possibly in other applications, not sure, that from time to time while typing I will accidentally press a key with my right hand, some key in the vicinity of the 'return' key, which will cause a contiguous string of text to be highlighted and deleted. It happens so quickly that I can never tell which key(s) I pressed to make this happen.
I think what actually happens is that the accidental keypress is causing the highlighting and then as I continue to type the highlighted text is of course deleted.
I can recover from this (once I notice it) by pressing command-z, but would like to prevent it from happening as I can lose other edits done before I notice the accidental deletion. If I knew what keystroke is responsible I might be able to disable it, or at least knowing might help me to avoid it.
I've done many google searches and have found nothing relevant. Have also searched these forums and the archive of MacFixIt forums and have found nothing.

I'm a medical student and as such I have to read a lot of PDFs in Preview. I usually read the text and highlight as I go to mark the important stuff. I was wondering if there's a way to create a new document composed of only the stuff I highlighted. That way I would have a great study guide and I wouldn't have to re-type all the content. So to summarize:
Copy highlighted sections ONLY and paste selections into a new document

Tablet devices, and more specifically Apple's iPad, are bound to forever alter the landscape for print and digital publishers, as evidenced by captivating concepts such as motion magazines like one being worked on by Alexx Henry Photography for Viv magazine (videos included).
Together with co-directors Cory Strassburger and Ming Hsiung, the firm recently produced a so-called "motion magazine cover" and feature spread for the all digital magazine, enabling it create content that will come to life on the iPad and other tablet devices where digital magazines are expected to thrive.
In a behind the scenes video covering the making of the motion cover that was sent to planet5D, Alexx Henry and partner Andrew Gant describe how they were able to "put motion into print" in ways never seen before.
The living art interactive motion spread was shot with Red Digital's latest RED ONE camera and new Mysterium-X sensor, allowing them to capture the energy of a still-life action shoot with the motion of a blockbuster film. In addition to action spreads, this enables them to "present a story" to readers before the final frame of their motion covers.
The production team shot all of their living models on a green screen at a high frame rate and slowed them down, so when the action stops, the textual article can appear. After constructing their own 3D environment, they composited the photography and did all the camera moves. The end result is a motion spread that sends readers on a journey, introducing them to each article while giving them time to read or the freedom to move on at their own pace.
"As photographers, we can build off the foundations that work really well in print, because in the end, we aren't making moving pictures," Henry says. "That's what movies do. We're creating pictures that move.

I have been running low on memory space for a while and just recently I turned my laptop on and all I saw was a blue screen. Fortunately there was still a bar on the top of my screen and I was able to access Safari by selecting the apple icon->Recent Items->Safari. I still cannot see the time or any of the other features. Safari seems to be the only application I can open, my itunes won't open and neither will just about any other application.

ok my macbook wont boot. i hit the power button, i hear the cd drive move, grey screen comes up with the apply logo and the little progress loading spinner thing, boot sound rings, then it goes to a dark blue screen for a second then it turns a lighter blue and the cursor is there and i can move it around, and then nothing happens it just sits there
i tried holding command/option/p/r till i heard the boot noise twice then let go and it stopped at the blue screen again. i didnt download anything new or change any permissions or system settings, just powered off last night and went to turn it on this morning and this happened

The first time I connected to my HDTV using a mini displayport-dvi and a dvi-hdmi adapter, it worked flawlessly. Stupidly, I set my TV to a resolution it couldn't support. Now the screen only turns blue until System Preferences eventually crashes and the TV gets no signal.
I've tried clearing my PRAM, deleting the profile in the colorsync folder, and even deleting /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist out of desperation. I've confirmed that it's not a problem with the adapters by successfully getting another HDTV to work. Where could could OS X be storing the display's settings?

After a few minutes of rebooting the machine i will use spotlight and it will be very flickery. Like when updating results, the blue bar flickers white and blue very quickly and almost unnoticeable. Also, related, when scrolling a list in the dock through a stack shown in list mode, it flickers a lot there as well. Is this normal behaviour for these machines/leopard in general? I'm used to using a crappy old iBook so i dont know if im just being pedantic.

while i am using my macbook the screen will suddenly go blue and flash between different blue colors like it is trying to work. sometimes it comes back on but most of the time it stays like that. I have to force shut down with the button and then restart...about half the time it is still flashing blue after the restart and if it does work, it goes blue eventually.
dont know if its a problem with the screen or what because the computer continues to work...if there is a movie on, you can here it in the background and the screen just flashes.

I know yall probably get this a lot but I am having a lot of trouble rebooting my macbook. A while ago I was using my computer and all of a sudden it froze I then tried rebooting with the start up disk and was successful and everything began working fine again until all of sudden my mac just froze. I powered the mac down and i wouldnt turn on, so I tried to reboot the system again and everything was going fine the computer was installing all the software so I left it going overnight for Disk 1 to complete, when I woke up all I saw was a blue screen with a white box saying MAC OS X and under a blue bar with "starting Mac OS X" underneith. I then powered the computer down and redid the apple, option P R to reset the Ram again but I still get this blue screen that I cant get past. I have read about booting the computer up in safe mode and i tried that but that didnt seem to work.

I tried booting up my Mac Pro, and it boots into a blank blue screen. I tried this several times, but no dice. Cannot boot into safe mode either. This happened about a month ago, and I did another reinstall. When I booted into my Apple Mac OSX Snow Leopard disk to repair, and it said everything was repaired.

I just installed the graphic card and when I turn on my Mac I get the Apple Logo and the spinning progress wheel and then the screen turns blue for 5 mins and then turns on. The tech at OWC said that it is normal to do that the first time but should speed up after the subsequent restarts, etc. Well, it is continuing to take 5 mins to start up.
Here are some screen shots of my Graphics card info and then another shot thats drivers installed YES and drivers installed NO. Is that correct?
