Feb 13, 2010when i had leopard i had changed my login wallpaper to something else besides that old pic but when i upgraded to snow leopard it is just blue and it wont change.

MacBook Pro :: Wallpaper Keeps Disappearing Using Internet / Wallpaper Disappears And Turns Blue
Feb 14, 2007I'm not sure why but whenever I go onto the internet, my wallpaper disappears and it turns blue. If I want to restore it I have to click on a different wallpaper in system preferences then click back to the one I want. Any ideas?

Jun 26, 2012I've Google to no end and the bottom line turns out to be reformat. I've tried editing the symbolic link, renaming the wallpaper in the system folder, etc. but upon reboot no matter what wallpaper I change it to, it reverts to just plain blue. The last thing I did on it before this problem occured was full screen iTunes and set my own wallpaper from within safari (right click Use as desktop Picture). The full screen iTunes bit may be the culprit upon a google result I found. Does anyone know a definiative solution to this issue? Just google '10.7.4 wallpaper' to see the countless others with this issue.

Sep 13, 2009For two weeks my screen will go blue and then any data on the screen will come back, either to normal or expanded in scale. In the desktop preferences it will offer desktop and VGA options. Over the last two days it will resize smaller with black edges and display the last wallpaper I used not the current one. Any help in correcting this would be great it's an iMac and runs Mac OSX Version 10.4.11

May 9, 2012I recently had to turn off my MacBook Pro after it hung for a long period of time. When I turned it back on again everything started as normal and I was able to enter my password at the login screen. However, once I do so I'm just presented with the wallpaper and my (working) mouse pointer. So far, I've tried the following without success:
1. Boot in Safe Mode
2. Ran fsck from Terminal
3. Tried PRAM reset
I've seen it suggested elsewhere that I should insert the install DVD but that's not in my possession unfortunately.

OS X :: Snow Leopard Login Wallpaper Stuck In Leopard's Aurora - CANT CHANGE
Dec 25, 2009I don't know about you, but Snow Leopard's aurora is so much cooler. I used a program called "Desktop 2 Login" to change the default wallpaper for the login screen to a different wallpaper. Using this same program I changed it back to L's Aurora. (Still in 10.5). When I upgraded to snow leopard, the login wallpaper did not change. It is still stuck on L's aurora. I have used about every method besides Terminal, and it won't change.

Jan 8, 2010Today my imac done something wierd. When powering on it got to the blue screen before the password login and it just froze on the blue screen. I done a hard restart and rebooted a few times. Didn't do it any more after that.
Should I be worried? It's only a few months old.
Software :: Won't Use G5 / Blue Screen Freeze Before Login
Jan 7, 2009My iMac G5 (running 10.4.11) freezes at the blue screen, after recognizing the mouse, but before the login window. Some form of energy saver must be working because after the blue screen dims, moving the mouse will brighten it.
Steps I've taken:
Hardware test - everything passed (RAM, logic board, airport, display, etc...)
Zeroed the computer (7 times) and fresh reinstall
I CAN boot up in Safe Mode, Single User Mode, and Verbose mode. I can boot from CD, Knoppix CD, and into Target Disk mode (thank god for this MacBook I'm on now...)

Software :: No Login Window Just A Blue Screen?
Apr 22, 2010I love customizing my Mac and tinker with its preferences so I guess I had this one coming, although it's my first major mistake.
I'm running Mac OS 10.5 and I downloaded a loginwindow.bundle from deviantart to customize my login window but I realized too late that it was for Snow Leopard. What I ended up doing was:
- I replaced the original loginwindow.bundle with the one I downloaded; and
- I replaced the original com.apple.loginwindow.plist with the one included above.
- Thankfully, I made a backup of the original files which I kept in my Documents folder.
I then logged out and ... the login window never appeared, just a black blue screen and that round loading thingy at the bottom. I'm sure that's the only cause of my problem. (If it helps, I don't have autologin enabled, so I have two accounts to choose from before I can login.)
I've tried booting in single user mode and in safe mode but neither works.
I've narrowed down my options.
1. Use some commands in single-user mode to replace the new loginwindow.bundle and loginwindow.plist with the old ones, which are in my Documents folder (like in Terminal). Thing is, I don't know how to do this, if ever it's possible; OR
2. Use my Bootcamp partition (thank God for Bootcamp!) to manually do the abovementioned option with Transmac, which I already tried. Unfortunately, I can't write to my Mac OS partition since it's read-only, which leads me to the problem of having to change it to read-write via single-user mode.

Aug 31, 2010My Mac OS x is stuck on the blue login screen. I have tried unplugging, cmd-alt-p-r which still takes me to the login screen, held down until I heard the chime three times as suggested but went to login screen. Tried going in to safe mode by holding down shift key at start up still took me to login screen. Tried to fix with boot disc and nothing comes up. By the way I wasn't really doing anything. Was checking my emails but hadn't even clicked on one when the screen totally froze. When I powered down it came back to email page. I had to force a shutdown several times and no can't get past login screen.

Jul 15, 2010After what seemed to be an improper shutdown my Macbook will not boot. I have tried using fsck to no avail. Booting to the leopard dvd causes it to restart. Flashing PRAM doesnt seem to help and it will not boot into safe mode.

Dec 26, 2008I created a new user the previous evening and shut the computer down as normal, now when i start up I get nothing but a blue screen no login in screen nothing. I tried going into the command as root, have done fix disk errors no problems there, then tried lunchctl load/Users/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.... plist cant rember the bit in between. I did this from the apple website, but all i get is no file to load, so anyway continued to do ls users/ get the names and tried reseting the password for the login's and i get a odd error. I have no idea where to go from here, as i cant find the original discs, can i use mybrothers os x 10.5 discs to re-install and save the files i want to keep and do a clean install?

Apr 2, 2012I have faced some known symptoms of a problem for which I was not able to find any sound resolution. I have an account with which I am unable to login. When I enter login details for a session, the system immediately kicks me out showing a blue screen, logs out and goes back to the login window. An interesting observation during a sudden logout is that I spotted a vague image or window of an open application (probably Finder) at the background which is like 95% transparent in comparison to the Mac's desktop and therefore barely visible. The white-ish edges of that window is more distingushable though for a short duration.
I can ssh to this username and work remotely. But there is another username which has not been affected with this issue and works fine. The console logs show that loginwindow process is crashing everytime. Look at the output below. There have been notes with similar effects but with specific causes (e.g. MS Excel 2004 inc Rosetta, Blootooth peripherials, eBook Studio, Photoshop CS3 etc.) which might be related cases.

Just installed lion and still the same problem when it starts blue dots, when startup in safe mode loads of blue lines and dots on the screen.

Jun 4, 2009got back from vacation and was moving pics around iPhoto. Couldn't seem to make a copy to a flash drive so I deleted the pics and figured I'd start again.
1/2 of the pics were already off my digital camera !!!
OK....breath....now the last nice pic from the 50% of my family vacation is on my wallpaper. OK....how do I save my wallpaper to a new image ?
In other words, the image should no longer exist because I deleted it....but its on my desktop wallpaper....I need that image !!!! Any way I can save it ????

Aug 7, 2009After a few minutes of rebooting the machine i will use spotlight and it will be very flickery. Like when updating results, the blue bar flickers white and blue very quickly and almost unnoticeable. Also, related, when scrolling a list in the dock through a stack shown in list mode, it flickers a lot there as well. Is this normal behaviour for these machines/leopard in general? I'm used to using a crappy old iBook so i dont know if im just being pedantic.

So I just installed Tech Tool Deluxe onto my macbook and then shut it down later. I went back to use it again and when i turned it on a login screen appeared asking me to put in my password. I did that and the screen turned blue (looking like it was loading) and then went back to the login screen. Every time i put in my password it just takes me back to the login screen. Jan 6, 2009I work for a company that has several Macs available for customers' use. These are basically demo-machines that they can play with, and at the end of each day, the machines are wiped and rebooted.
The way we do this is simple: the machines auto-login to the Guest account, which will wipe the account at the end of the day. Well, getting a few new Macs in this week, I simply copied over the entire Guest user account to the new machines to avoid reloading all the demo content, preferences, etc. And truthfully, the machines have been working great.
Except one thing. The computer keeps giving me that annoying message that says "Safari (or Finder, or System Preferences, or anything!) wants to use keychain 'login'". And asks for the login keychain password. Well here's the thing: the Guest accounts don't have passwords!
So I looked up a little bit on this topic, and did things like... Went to "Keychain List" in the Edit menu of Keychain Access, and deleted both the "login" and "system" keychains. No help. I went to Preferences in Keychain Access and said "Reset My Keychain". When doing this, however, it asks for the new password for the login keychain.
The problem with this is that I cannot leave the field blank! The Guest account doesn't have a password, so how am I supposed to not create a password?

Apr 15, 2010G4 MDD networked with Mini for approx. 3 years now via a LinkSys BEFSR41 wired router. Ethernet cables are CAT6's with gold-plated ends. Did an erase/install (+ updates) of Panther on G4. ISP is Comcast Cable. Just upgraded my Motorola modem from Surfboard 5100 to SB 5101 yesterday. My network settings are ok...file sharing is turned on...I can ping each 'puter from the other (showing my connection is good).
I have internet access (showing that the router is still good according to Cisco). Now, however, I can't even bring up the window on the G4 asking for my pw....all I get is connection failed, no response from the server. From the Mini, I get Unknown User, incorrect password or login is disabled. I haven't a clue what the problem can be. Everything I do daily depends upon the network connection.

Oct 20, 2010i ve recently activated the default guest account in leopard. However even though when I check in the accounts.prefpane it says that it is on and its 'login only' and when I click on the account it says 'allow guests to login into this computer' and its on.
However when I boot up my machine and click on the guest icon, it wont let me in as it shakes the menu(login failed).
