So I used the internet this morning no problem. I come home this evening and can't connect wirelessly with my airport. Every time I open Safari and type in an address I get this message:

My brother has wireless internet for his house which is wha I connect to.
I've read about a thousand threads and can't seem to find a solution to my problem: my computer is able to recognize my Airport network and it has the green signal next to it with the full signal strength, but when I select it, the internet doesn't work. I'm using a Macbook OSX with an Airport Extreme.

I would like to use an Airport Express in the living room to connect to my stereo system in order to share my iTunes library from my Macbook. Therefore, is it possible to connect the Airport Express to the DrayTek router over wireless rather than a network cable? Or is a hard connection required?

I did this before, with the airport express connected to the network over its ethernet port, and that worked great. How do you do it wirelessly? It's basically putting it on the network in reverse - instead of clients connecting to it over wireless, it's a client connecting to the network wirelessly. How do you do that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I moved in there was a USB ADSL modem so I replaced it with a Belkin 54g modem router. I followed the belkin set-up cd and have a network up and running. Initially I could connect and browse wirelessly without problems. Then I got a few "timeouts" when trying to connect, that seemed to go away but now I connect with the password, full signal shows for a couple of seconds then it seems to disconnect and I can't browse wirelessly. All through this there have been no internet problems if I go 'wired' with the ethernet cable.
Is there anything I can try? When attempting to use wirelessly I've been in the same room as the router, no more than a couple of meters away. Is it a problem of G routers instead of having N?
I currently use a Powerbook, and I access the internet though our AirPort Extreme router. Recently, for some reason, although I am on the right network, and signal strength is full - I am unable to connect to the internet! I've called my provider, and everything is fine on their end according to their systems. I've tried power cycling, and checking my settings, and everything SEEMS to be ok.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought my MacBook Pro and a brand new Airport Extreme to go with it about 4 months ago. I have the MacBook and my wife's iMac hooked up wirelessly to the Airport Extreme with no problems. My son't Wii also hooks up with no problems wirelessly. My Xbox 360 hooks up sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. It's not wireless, it's hooked directly to the Airport Extreme via Ethernet cable. When I first got the Airport Extreme, the Xbox had no problem hooking up to it and the internet. But lately it sometimes hooks up, and sometimes it doesn't...with no explanation as to why other than maybe the position of the planets or something. Restarting the Airport Extreme helps sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. I'll just leave it be for a few days...change nothing...and then try the Xbox again and automagically it seems to work...for a few days. Then for no reason will just stop again. It can't connect through anything then, not even hook up to one of the Mac's using Connect360. It's as if the 360 is not even hooked to any network then. Also, the Xbox 360 had zero network problems when I was using a DLink router, which was the set-up to hook to the internet and the hub of the home network for the past year. The 360 could hook to the Macs and access the Internet. But the Dlink wasn't wireless, which is why I went with the Airport Extreme when I got my Macbook Pro.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've spent the past few hours attempting to connect my new Windows 8.1 laptop to my iMac's Airport signal without any success. I was able to do this very thing using Windows 7 on an old laptop. From what I've been reading, it seems that the ability to connect to networks secured with "WEP-Shared" type security has been removed in Windows 8 because of the fact that it was outdated and insecure. It's great that Microsoft is trying to force individuals to be secure, but unfortunately the iMac's airport utility does not offer any alternatives.

After upgrading to Lion on my Macbook Air, I can't seem to be able to connect to my external speakers through airport express. Somehow I can't get the little icon I used to do, on the bottom right corner of the iTunes window (on the left of genius) to select the speakers. I checked the preferences in vain.

i recently bought an Airport Express, and i finally took it out of its box after i purchased my new stereo. I connected the audio cable to the stereo and the airport unit and plugged it into an outlet. I opened up airport utility on my mac, AX appeared and i configured it to "join a wireless network". After completing the remaining steps, i updated it.. and waited for it to restart. Now here's my problem. It comes up with an error telling me it couldn't find the device after restarting. I have Verizon FiOS as my provider.. and I know that airport express has a history of trouble with the Actiontec router. Is there anything i can do with my current equipment to get this thing to work? I do not need to extend the network.. only join to use airtunes and print wirelessly... Also, my Actiontec router and FiOS connection are through my crappy dell pc downstairs, while i am using my 24" iMac upstairs in my bedroom trying to connect this. Should i change my router's settings?

I am trying to move files between one Mac and another wirelessly. They are both connected wirelessly to the Internet with an Airport Extreme Base Station (newest version).
It seems to me that the files are transferring slowly, as if they are transferring at Internet connection speeds rather than computer to computer speeds.
The way I am connecting them is by clicking on the other Mac's name from the Finder and then connecting to it. I have file sharing turned on on both computers. I then am dragging the files from a local folder to a folder on the other Mac.
The computer I'm using is a 13" MBP with wireless N, and the other computer is a 17" iMac Intel Core 2 Duo, which I believe has a slower wifi version (maybe g), which I could upgrade to N if I pay Apple $1.99 (I never did, but I remember reading about that a long time ago). Anyhow, even with the slower connection, I still should be getting faster speeds I believe.
Right now, I am trying to transfer a folder with 209 GB of files and the estimated time to complete was at first 45 hours and varied a lot until it stabilized at 30 hours. I canceled the copy until I can find if there's a way to make a faster connection?
I may end up just going about this a different way as I realize there would be faster ways, but I'm curious for future reference, as well�is there a way to tell the computer to route the data through the router rather than the Internet, or is that what it was already doing?

I tried "Creating Network..." under Airport menu on MacBook, but couldn't get it to work. Is it possible with ethernet cable? I've had my macbook for a couple years (I don't even know how to find out what year it was made, I'd guess 2008). It just suddenly stopped allowing me to connect to the internet wirelessly at my house. I brought it to my college campus, where I've been able to connect all semester, and I cannot connect there either. I'm receiving wireless signals in both places with my phone.
When I go to system pref - network....and highlight airport, it says it's not connected even though i have all my bars at the top right of the screen.
It says "Airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet."
I should point out that my brother's macbook pro still works fine wirelessly in our house.
Got my MacBook Pro today and can't connect wirelessly. Internet works fine when plugged in via LAN cable. I've noticed that whenever 'Mac friends' come round they can't connect either so it must be a Mac only problem. Obviously this wasn't really a problem but now I've converted it has become one.

I notice when hard wired I get settings of.

(I renewed DHCP lease and get the same)
(I entered all the IP and Subnet manually (same as wired settings) but it still would not connect.
I also tried re-install os X, as well as resetting my modem and setting my home network back up.
Apple tells me the TC can connect to my D-Link router, and D-Link tells me that the router can be connected to, but no one seems to know how to do it. I have searched and searched to no avail.
Does anyone know how to connect the TC to the D-Link to "extend" my wireless setup?

No matter what I do, I can NOT scan from my computer or to my computer, wirelessly.
I used to get an error to the effect of, "failed to create a session" when trying to scan. Now, I'm unable to locate the scanner in Preview at all!
It prints just fine. I've installed the latest Snow Leopard printer drivers, and they're working fine and are the correct drivers. Airport Extreme's firmware is up to date.
