Got my MacBook Pro today and can't connect wirelessly. Internet works fine when plugged in via LAN cable. I've noticed that whenever 'Mac friends' come round they can't connect either so it must be a Mac only problem. Obviously this wasn't really a problem but now I've converted it has become one.

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro to a new Netgear router (the Mac worked flawlessly with the previous wireless router). It claims to be connected to the Internet through Network Diagnostics but cannot resolve any sites (or gmail etc) in both Safari & Firefox. (And yes, all updates have been installed, and yes it connects flawlessly via Ethernet.)
I don't think it's the new router as my iPhone happily connects through it as well as a wireless PC notebook that I have, so why is the MacBook Pro having a problem?
I have a blackbook (intel core 2 duo) and I can connect to my landlord's wireless network (they have a netgear wgt624) but I can't actually use the web (Safari or Firefox will just "think"). I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.
*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?
I cannot connect my 2006 macbook pro to landlord's netgear router. It won't connect at all. I can connect my windows XP laptop though with a netgear rangemax wireless PC card (not without it even though my ibm t41 has wireless built into it).
Password to the router is 13 digits long, 64 bit (according to the landlord) and WEP encrypted. I tried adding $ symbol but then it won't let me add some of the other password digits. Using Mac osx 10.4.11, 2.16ghz Intel core 2 duo.
I have a Netgear N900 router and although I can find the signal I cannot connect to the wifi. Each time I clicked on it, it would fail to connect and say to move closer to the router. However the router has already been upgraded to make the signal strong enough to reach my room. I have tried restarting the router and it has not worked. I have gone into the router through my browser and reserved an IP address and changed my network settings on my computer to "using DHCP with manual address" and entered the reserved IP address. I restarted my computer but now my macbook pro says that it is connected but I can't connect to the internet when i open a browser. I'm not sure if I'm not reserving the IP address correctly or if there is another solution to this problem.

The computer recognizes both printers that are connected to it and will print to each one if they are directly connected to the computer, however, I am unable to connect to the print server. Has anyone done this? I have contacted both Apple and Netgear and no one at either place

All my devices (ipods/tablet) see and connect to the replacement router, except my iMac. so the problem is with this desk top.It sees but refuses to connect to the new router. I suspect the imac is not allowing the previous profile to be overridden.

It took me a lOOONG time but I finally bit the bullet and bought a macbook. So far so good, I will be giving it a memory upgrade in a few weeks but right now I could use some serious help.
The computer won't connect to my Netgear WGR614 wifi router. I called Apple, they said the airport works and I may need a router firmware update. I updated the Netgear router. I have tried using the WEP, the WPA and also tried with the router set to zero security. The macbook still won't connect. Here is the kicker, my old windows based laptop and my wifes newer netbook picked up the new upgrade without issue.
The macbook (I loaded all the macbook updates with hardwire) will go through the network diagnostics and end up being unable solve the problem.
Yesterday, I attempted to wirelessly connect to the internet and I am getting "your computer is being managed by The Gaines Family6 (that's my host computer)". I thought it was my router so I unhooked everything and started over and still the same thing.

I've had my macbook for a couple years (I don't even know how to find out what year it was made, I'd guess 2008). It just suddenly stopped allowing me to connect to the internet wirelessly at my house. I brought it to my college campus, where I've been able to connect all semester, and I cannot connect there either. I'm receiving wireless signals in both places with my phone.
When I go to system pref - network....and highlight airport, it says it's not connected even though i have all my bars at the top right of the screen.
It says "Airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet."
I should point out that my brother's macbook pro still works fine wirelessly in our house.
So I used the internet this morning no problem. I come home this evening and can't connect wirelessly with my airport. Every time I open Safari and type in an address I get this message:

I notice when hard wired I get settings of.
IP: 192.168.2.10
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
When not Wired I get
IP: 169.254.209.184
Subnet: 255.255.0.0
(I renewed DHCP lease and get the same)
(I entered all the IP and Subnet manually (same as wired settings) but it still would not connect.
I also tried re-install os X, as well as resetting my modem and setting my home network back up.
Apple tells me the TC can connect to my D-Link router, and D-Link tells me that the router can be connected to, but no one seems to know how to do it. I have searched and searched to no avail.
Does anyone know how to connect the TC to the D-Link to "extend" my wireless setup?

I've read about a thousand threads and can't seem to find a solution to my problem: my computer is able to recognize my Airport network and it has the green signal next to it with the full signal strength, but when I select it, the internet doesn't work. I have an iMac (early 2008) and I would like to use my Sony Bravia TV (46EX520) as a monitor. Pretty easy so far but the trick is that I would like to do it wirelessly. I have the Sony wireless / LAN adaptor (UWA-BR100) which enable me to connect my TV to my modem/router (D-Link DSL-2730B). However, I do not want to stream movies, music or pictures from my computer to my TV. I want to use the TV as computer screen. When I moved in there was a USB ADSL modem so I replaced it with a Belkin 54g modem router. I followed the belkin set-up cd and have a network up and running. Initially I could connect and browse wirelessly without problems. Then I got a few "timeouts" when trying to connect, that seemed to go away but now I connect with the password, full signal shows for a couple of seconds then it seems to disconnect and I can't browse wirelessly. All through this there have been no internet problems if I go 'wired' with the ethernet cable.
Is there anything I can try? When attempting to use wirelessly I've been in the same room as the router, no more than a couple of meters away. Is it a problem of G routers instead of having N?
