I searched the forums, and followed the advice of connecting the printer directly and getting the drivers. This worked fine - and I could then print from Win 7 (64 bit)... But still no Airport joy.

I just hooked up my Samsung CLP-600 Color Laser Printer to the Airport Express in the other room, configured everything so my Airport Extreme was talking to it and I made a connection, and I print. It works, great! Problem is, for some very strange reason, it only prints in black & white. I don't even know how that's possible!
The file is in color. It's a Pages doc. I even exported to a PDF and tried printing from that. Same thing -- no color.
I'm sure the printer has color ink because I just told it to print a demo page and it prints it in beautiful color.
I currently have a cannon MP620 all in one printer, I mainly use this for my PC notebook. If I were to purchase an Airport Express how would I go about printing wirelessly? Would I need to instal any drivers from the printer since it would be a network printer? I'm pretty confused as to how wireless printing works with the Airport Express.

(previously installed and works great) so i proceeded to do a test print on my via via windows, it stated to print fine but stopped 3/4 the way through it appears from looking via google that this is a common problem does anyone have a solution as it is driving me insane.

I've successfully connected it to my MacBook (10.5.8) using a Parallel-USB Converter Cable and Gimp-Print drivers - it doesn't have a built-in USB port. What I'd like to do now is connect the LaserJet to my Airport Express to allow me to print wirelessly. Has anyone done something similar to this before? Has it worked? I'd like to get advice first so I don't end up wasting hours and banging my head off a wall trying to get this to work.

The Mac Mini, which is also connected via Ethernet to my home network, can print to the CX5000 as a Bonjour printer connected to the base station. Both computers think they're printing. They both get a connection to the printer, and act as if the printer is printing the jobs, but no print job is forthcoming.

I can enabled sharing on the printer on the desktop, and added the printer to my macbook. My problem is when I try to print It send's a signal to my desktop, the HP "ink level" pop up comes up, the printer shows spooling in the details then it disappears and never prints. I know I am close but have been messing with this for 2 days and I cant figure it out.

Anyone do this.. is this the wrong approach is it really slow, (4mbit vs usb 2.0 420mbit) or is the printer pipeline unable to process large data packets anyway... I also bought an airport extreme base station to run my external harddrive and to print wirelessly. My problem is that I can't seem to add the wireless printer to the printers list. Each time I try, the computer recognizes the printer on the network but I can't select drivers for it in the 'Print Using' menu. I already have the printer drivers on the computer (I got a link from Canon customer service and downloaded the CAPT driver installer)

One was for the Time Machine/AirPort and the rest for the iMac. The computer would not restart after the updates. After spending the weekend reinstalling the system software and rebuilding the whole computer I went to restore from the Time Machine (but no!) and the Mac no longer communicated with the printer wirelessly. I think I figure out the Time Machine thing but I cannot print wirelessly even though the Mac says the printer is installed. I have a Brother MFC-J825DW?

I am new to Mac. Recently I bought a Macbook Air with OS X v10.7. I have a ADSL router with the Canon printer with fixed IP 192.168.2.100. I have a wireless router connected to the ADSL router. This wirless rouer is in another subnet 192.168.3.0.My Windows 7 notebook I am able to print wirelessly to the Canon using a manual configuration (IP printing). As for the Mac, I have installed the latest Canon CUPS drivers and the Canon IJ Network Tool. I use the Canon IJ Network tool, I am not able to scan for the printer. I configure manually with the IP address such as IPP://192.168.2.100 but it still cannot print. The status of printer goes from idle to busy.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move files between one Mac and another wirelessly. They are both connected wirelessly to the Internet with an Airport Extreme Base Station (newest version).
It seems to me that the files are transferring slowly, as if they are transferring at Internet connection speeds rather than computer to computer speeds.
The way I am connecting them is by clicking on the other Mac's name from the Finder and then connecting to it. I have file sharing turned on on both computers. I then am dragging the files from a local folder to a folder on the other Mac.
The computer I'm using is a 13" MBP with wireless N, and the other computer is a 17" iMac Intel Core 2 Duo, which I believe has a slower wifi version (maybe g), which I could upgrade to N if I pay Apple $1.99 (I never did, but I remember reading about that a long time ago). Anyhow, even with the slower connection, I still should be getting faster speeds I believe.
Right now, I am trying to transfer a folder with 209 GB of files and the estimated time to complete was at first 45 hours and varied a lot until it stabilized at 30 hours. I canceled the copy until I can find if there's a way to make a faster connection?
I may end up just going about this a different way as I realize there would be faster ways, but I'm curious for future reference, as well�is there a way to tell the computer to route the data through the router rather than the Internet, or is that what it was already doing?
I have an Airport Extreme, with two USB hard drives connected to it. The Airport Extreme shares these disks to my wireless network via Airport Disks.
Upstairs I have an Airport Express, that wirelessly connects to my Airport Extreme downstairs, and extends the wireless network so I get a good wireless reception upstairs.
My problem is, that it does not seem like me Airport Express does a good job of forwarding my 2 USB Airport Disks to the extended wireless network upstairs.
For example, when I use the AirVideo iPhone app to stream video from my USB Airport Disks I get a server connection error when I go upstairs and the iPad/iPhone switches to the Airport Express networks. I cannot reconnect as long as it is on the Airport Express network. If I turn the airport Express off, and thus switch to the poor wireless reception from the Airport Extreme, I can connect to the USB Airport disks again.
The Airport Express is connected to the Airport Extreme in bridged mode.
Just a question for those who have used the Airports. Can a USB hub be used to expand the number of devices the Airport can use? i.e., an external hd, a laserjet, and an inkjet.

I've got a dual-ethernet Airport Extreme base station. I've connected my AIO HP c309a to it by every possible means; ethernet, wireless and USB.
No matter what I do, I can NOT scan from my computer or to my computer, wirelessly.
I used to get an error to the effect of, "failed to create a session" when trying to scan. Now, I'm unable to locate the scanner in Preview at all!
It prints just fine. I've installed the latest Snow Leopard printer drivers, and they're working fine and are the correct drivers. Airport Extreme's firmware is up to date.
After configuring wireless security on my Airport Extreme base station, the Airport Express I use to stream iTunes music to my whole-house stereo system has disappeared. Airport Utility can't see it. Yes, I checked connections. All I get is a blinking yellow light on the Express. The base station works as its supposed to.

MBP 2.2; OSX 10.4.11; Airport Express 802.11n (version 7.3.2); WD MyBook 320GB (format Mac OS Extended) I'm trying to get the WD HDD setup as a wireless hard drive, but it's not showing up at all in Airport Utility (I don't even have a 'disk' tab in the 'manual setup' menu). Airport Disk Utility just says "no airport disks found." Of course the HDD works fine when plugged in directly to the MBP. I've searched apple support and these forums, but haven't found anything that works yet. All help I have found says use the 'disk tab' in AE manual setup window. What do I do without a 'disk' tab? (or how do I get one?) is this a firmware/software issue with the AE?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI currently have the apple extreme as my wireless router. It works great. I absolutely love it. I have two macbook pro's (wife and I both have one) and use it for my PS3 and Xbox 360. I started a new job and was given a free HP desktop (not my choice, but hey, it's free, so what can I say). The desktop is not wireless and I am not able to put my computer near the airport extreme because my TV already owns that territory. Today I bought the Airport express to use as a bridge (and other things in the future). I have plugged it in. I opened the airport utility using my macbook. It finds my extreme and my express. I select that I want to set up the express. I select that I want to set it up using an existing wireless network. I select my airport extreme. It tells me that it has to restart the express. I wait approximately 3 minutes. It then tells me that the settings to the express have been changed but it's not able to find it.
My main goal is to use the express as a bridge. I have the express plugged in beside the desktop and want to run an ethernet cable from the express to the desktop to allow for wireless capability.
AirPort Express doesn't show up in AirPort Utility 6.0. I haven't updated the AirPort utility on my laptop, and can find it there. 6.0 doesn't even has a scan button... I've done a hard reset of the AirPort Express, still isn't showing up.
