View 2 RepliesWhen I send an image from my phone to my Mac via bluetooth I get the Incoming File Transfer Window popping up.I'd really like to stop it, hide it or make it invisible. Can't work out how to do it though - can't seem to get at it via applescript, can't find a 3rd party app, Terminal tweak or a workaround.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I was toying around with this app I learned about recently called Secrets. It's an add-on for your System Preferences. For those who don't know what it is, it easily changes preferences in many Apple apps like iTunes, Finder, etc that Apple didn't make public for change and without you directly using Terminal commands to make the changes. Definitely check it out if you're interested in tweeking your system a bit.
Anyway, so while playing with it, changed some wanted things, and some things which I wasn't sure what they were but decided to change it anyway and see what happened.
I did something to my dock where when you minimize a window open, it'll go down normally into the dock, but instead shows the top left corner of that window rather than showing the whole window. It looks like this when I minimize...
[Sample of my dock near the trash bin with Preview, Quicktime, and Firefox docked.]
I want to change it back to the default option where it minimizes and shows the whole window rather than just the top corner. This is bugging me! I can't figure out what I did and went through all the options in Secrets.
Anyone know the Terminal command to change it back to the default or any other alternative to change it back to normal?
[If anyone asks what icons those are in my dock, it's the Litho 2.0 series from Icon Factory.]
I love how in OSX you can go to a Window in the dock and click hide:
Instead of the window minimizing and taking up even more room on the dock, it just hides in the already existing icon (in this case the active window hides in the safari icon). When I click minimize on the actual window this happens:
Now Safari is taking up two spaces on my dock. Is there any way to make it so every time, no matter what the window is, if you click minimize or even exit, it hides the window as opposed to minimizing it and wasting a dock space?
I found my dock is gone. When I moved my pointer over the edge of screen where the dock was, the dock does not show up. I went to the Dock preference, it seems that the option "Automatically hidd and show the Dock" is chosen. I turned it off. It shows no difference. And I went to the Dock preference again, the Option is still chosen. And the Mac->Dock-> Turn Hiding Off is not functional. And also the hot key combination. Now I have to went to the lunchpad to see my dock and all my applications. It is really annoying.

I'm new to the Mac and have been getting used to it quite nicely, but there's one thing that I peeves me just slightly. That one thing is that whenever I click somewhere that is off the application I'm using, it just disappears into the background and there's no minimized icon of it on my dock. Now if I hit the orange minimize button manually it will minimize off to the right side of my dock, but I would like to know if it is possible to somehow get the same thing to happen automatically when I click somewhere off the application I'm using.
This mainly annoys me on my MSN conversations. A lot of times, I've clicked on the video I was watching. Paused it to go do something and then when I was done watching the video and wanted to start chatting again, I find out that my friend had said something and I missed it. (My MSN dock icon only jumps up four times before sitting still).
Is there a key command to minimize every window that is open? I used to use Win+M on Windows to do this, but I really miss being able to do this since I switched to OS X.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while all applications that are open will stutter when I minimize or maximize them. I can't really explain it other then the fact that the animation in not smooth. When I restart the computer everything goes back to normal and is smooth. I notice this happening after I install or update a program. This usually occurs right after I see the color wheel spinning.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo i have it enabled, and that's great and all.
But the thing is, what are you supposed to do if you have more than one thing minimized? say 2 Safari Windows? Or the steam beta with 3 chats?
When you click to maximize you only get one, and then nothing else happens if you keep clicking with others minimized in there
Expose is nice but and you can right click on it, but is that it?
Suddenly my emails are taking up the whole screen so I have no editing options.. I cannot minimize without the options.. When I have emails up I have no dock icons.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCheck this out. Minimize iTunes using the green button to get the mini-player. Then plug in your iPhone. iTunes 8.1.1 no longer expands and pops to the front of your screen! That's really cool! I noticed this in 8.1.1, but it could have been introduced in 8.1, I don't know.

Since the update i can minimize other apps by double clicking the toolbar of the app - camino, littlesnapper, speedownload .... but not finder or safari - why? anyone else? it used to work fine....
In calendar, when I minimize it to the dock, the date is incorrect. It used to be today's date but is now stuck on June 17. I've restarted my Mac--no change.

Is there anyway to move the Close, Maximize and Minimize buttons to the right of every window?
Can that annoying right-bottom tip corner used to sizing windows be replaced with stretch arrows like in Windows?
I notice that whenever I am running an app from a disk image I notice that the minimize feature on the dock lags, and the only way to fix it is to either log out and log in again or turn off and turn on again. Does anybody have a suggestion how to fix this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI wonder if it is possible to hide the Dock completely. If you go to Dock settings and hide it, it will appear when the cursor near its edge. What I want, is to hide it completely - dont want it to appear all of a sudden and interrupt me. I found the app Dock Gone, which hides the Dock and makes it accessible via a keyboard-shortcut. Thing is, it costs $14.95, and I just want the dock to disappear.
Is there a way to do this? A terminal command or something? I guess there must be - Dock Gone is doing it somehow.
I don't want some applications to show their dock icon when they're running. Preview is an example. I've used the freeware app "Configure Dock Application Tile", but it always gives me an error saying I don't have permission. Is there another app that can do this?

I like to autohide the dock but it reappears too slowly, is it possible to start the reappear effect before I touch the edge of the screen, say 1 inch in advance. Or just have the animation be faster?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI have my last.fm scrobbler hidden from the dock. I recently changed my password on my last.fm account and need to do so on the scrobbler, but I can't figure out how to do it. When I launch the app from the apps folder, the program runs but I don't have the menu items across the top and thus can't find the "Preferences" menu item.
Is there a way I can unhide it so that I can access the "Preferences"? Is there another way to access the "Preferences"?
I like to automatically hide the dock, because it gives me more space on the screen. Sadly, I can't see mail and Adium notifications when the dock is hidden.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to only hide the menu bar, but keep the dock unhidden? I tried Menu Magic, but it hides both. Menu Eclipse can a put a black bar on top of it, but you can't maximize windows to fill up the space it takes up.
Basically I want a "Turn Hiding On" feature for the menu bar.
I indadvertently hit some keyboard combo that caused my otherwise hidden-by-default dock to remain permanently visible. Worse, the "hide dock" option is now gone from my system preferences. how to make the preference check box reappear?

To the point... I use TimeOut to remind me to get up and move, while I am on my computer. It is a handy app that will make the screen go blank for how ever long I set my breaks to last.
The thing is... I don't need the application icon to sit in my Dock taking up space telling me the application is open. I know it is open since it tells me to get up and stretch every 20 minutes by blanking my screen.
So, is there any way to take the application's icon off the Dock while still leaving it open?
So I'm trying to find a way to hide the SpaceSuit icon in the doc while it's still running. The main reason is that I use the command+W to close my applications and sometimes SpaceSuit gets closed accidentally in the process. I added:
<key>LSUIElement</key>
<string>0</string>
right above
</dict>
and tried dockless, but I've came up short.
Usually when I watch something on full screen the dock dissapears. However, a few days ago after installing a new software update the dock is still shown when Im wathching something on full screen.

The dock has a quick key combo to show and hide. When it's in hide mode and my mouse hovers below (were it is located) it re-appears. How can I make it to only show and hide with my quick key combo?
