In calendar, when I minimize it to the dock, the date is incorrect. It used to be today's date but is now stuck on June 17. I've restarted my Mac--no change.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night I left my charger at a friend's house, so it ended up dying completely. When I turned it on again, it alerted me that my date was set to something prior to 2008, (Actually December 2000) and that this could cause problems. Also, it no longer remembered my wifi password (which I have had saved for a little over a year now, with no problems.)I also noticed that my hard drive icon was missing!
I restarted the computer, hoping that would fix my problem. When it didn't, I checked for an update and got everything updated. The date is now correct, but my hard drive icon is still missing. I did at some point back up my computer onto a portable hard drive via time machine, but it has been a few months, and I don't know if I would lose any data that I have used or obtained until this point?

My sister's Macbook is set to go to sleep after 16 minutes of no activity.
She went out for half an hour and when she returned the macbook had shut down.
The date is showing as January 1st 2001 and the clock began the time at 00:00.
Everything else on the computer is fine, but she cannot correct the date and time.
When she tries restarting the computer she is given a warning that the date and time are incorrect but still cannot fix it.
In the last 2 weeks, when I try to search - take for instance at Amtrack - I put in the date I want to travel (March 22) but when I click search it comes up with January 23 and then won't search because it is in the past.And it's not just with this website, I have other travel websites that act the same way.This is getting pretty annoying and as I am a secretary for about 6 people, I need to make travel arrangements, but I can't find an anwer.I cleared the cache and reset Safari and it didn't help.I checked to make sure my date and time settings were okay.

The date in the menu bar is correct but Incorrect date Shown on Migrated Files. I bought an iMac running Leopard last 22 November and migrated all my files from my old eMac. Subsequently all my email messages have been dated 22 November 2008. Other timed events have the same date. And now that I've bought a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard and migrated files from the iMac, the same thing has happened. So, operating Time Machine for the very first time yesterday on the iMac, it displays the backup date as 22 November 2008.
View 4 Replies View RelatediTunes is showing me bizarre dates in the "Date Added" column. Examples are "6/29/14180", "1/5/145", and "12/29/12364". I should note that I'm running the latest version of iTunes and the latest version of Mavericks, but the iTunes library that I'm using is the library on my Snow Leopard drive (because I don't know a simple way of importing all of that music--25,000+ songs--into the Maverick side).Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the Mac and have been getting used to it quite nicely, but there's one thing that I peeves me just slightly. That one thing is that whenever I click somewhere that is off the application I'm using, it just disappears into the background and there's no minimized icon of it on my dock. Now if I hit the orange minimize button manually it will minimize off to the right side of my dock, but I would like to know if it is possible to somehow get the same thing to happen automatically when I click somewhere off the application I'm using.
This mainly annoys me on my MSN conversations. A lot of times, I've clicked on the video I was watching. Paused it to go do something and then when I was done watching the video and wanted to start chatting again, I find out that my friend had said something and I missed it. (My MSN dock icon only jumps up four times before sitting still).
So i have it enabled, and that's great and all.
But the thing is, what are you supposed to do if you have more than one thing minimized? say 2 Safari Windows? Or the steam beta with 3 chats?
When you click to maximize you only get one, and then nothing else happens if you keep clicking with others minimized in there
Expose is nice but and you can right click on it, but is that it?
So I was toying around with this app I learned about recently called Secrets. It's an add-on for your System Preferences. For those who don't know what it is, it easily changes preferences in many Apple apps like iTunes, Finder, etc that Apple didn't make public for change and without you directly using Terminal commands to make the changes. Definitely check it out if you're interested in tweeking your system a bit.
Anyway, so while playing with it, changed some wanted things, and some things which I wasn't sure what they were but decided to change it anyway and see what happened.
I did something to my dock where when you minimize a window open, it'll go down normally into the dock, but instead shows the top left corner of that window rather than showing the whole window. It looks like this when I minimize...

I want to change it back to the default option where it minimizes and shows the whole window rather than just the top corner. This is bugging me! I can't figure out what I did and went through all the options in Secrets.
Anyone know the Terminal command to change it back to the default or any other alternative to change it back to normal?
[If anyone asks what icons those are in my dock, it's the Litho 2.0 series from Icon Factory.]
Is it possible to tweak the minimize to the dock to auto hide the window instead?

Instead of the window minimizing and taking up even more room on the dock, it just hides in the already existing icon (in this case the active window hides in the safari icon). When I click minimize on the actual window this happens:
Now Safari is taking up two spaces on my dock. Is there any way to make it so every time, no matter what the window is, if you click minimize or even exit, it hides the window as opposed to minimizing it and wasting a dock space?

Since the update i can minimize other apps by double clicking the toolbar of the app - camino, littlesnapper, speedownload .... but not finder or safari - why? anyone else? it used to work fine....
It was one of those times when it "stuck" to the cursor, and got dragged to the desktop, where it disappeared. Now, I can't find calendar anywhere. "Calendar-info" is empty.Â

I notice that whenever I am running an app from a disk image I notice that the minimize feature on the dock lags, and the only way to fix it is to either log out and log in again or turn off and turn on again. Does anybody have a suggestion how to fix this?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI am pulling my hair since friday trying to get my MBP's time machine work with a 1TB drive connected to a early 2009 AEBS. First I spent half a day doing the first backup by connecting the hard drive directly to Mac using USB and later when I connected that drive to AEBS, time machine would not recognize the drive as the same one and I had to spend a good part of yesterday backing up my complete drive again.... and just when I thought I can rest easy knowing that my eternal dream of getting time machine work wirelessly, I saw time machine complain that there is not enough free space left to backup my paltry 103 GB worth of data on just second day.
Turns out, the Time machine backup volume (volume created by time machine on the AEBS disk) shows that the used space is 1TB.... but the size of the sparsebundle is only 103GB and my airport drive mount itself shows plenty of free space (800GB).... I have tried to search for similar problem, but I couldn't find much help... can anyone help me out here....
Btw, when I tried to repair the volume in disk utility, it says something about incorrect allocation blocks and then says it cannot repair and I need to backup and reformat the drive or something of that sort....
Today is the 19th and my ical dock icon is displaying the 18th. My dates and times are correct in my preferences and display properly every where else. When I launch ical it is also on the proper date and the dock icon will display the proper date as long as ical is open. When I close ical the dock icon displays the wrong date again.

I remember that this has worked flawless before, so I must have changed something (maybe the 10.6.3 update)? When I start the iCal Application, the number (e.g. 9 for 9.4.2010) gets updated, but as soon I close it, it'll go back to 6 (for 6.4.2010).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a folder where I place an ever growing collection of my favorite songs. Before I switched to Mac, on Windows, when I wanted to revisit songs I most recently added to the folder, I would sort the songs by the Date Modified and it would order the files I placed in the folder by date.
In OSX, however, there must be a slightly different meaning to "Date Modified," as it does not quite sort my songs by the order they were added. It gets some of it right, but there's plenty of files that are out of order--tune "x", which I know was placed in the folder a week ago is actually listed further down the list with songs placed in the folder months ago.
Is there a way to have OSX sort files in order of the date it was placed in a folder? Neither "Date Modified" nor "Date Created" works 100% as I thought it would. Or is the OSX definition of Date Modified/Created slightly different than Windows?
I've noticed recently that when in Finder, all folders/files have a Modified Date of somewhere in January 2009 or January 2008, regardless of when it was actually modified/created. My clock at the top left-hand corner says Oct 20 though. Any thoughts?
