When I send an image from my phone to my Mac via bluetooth I get the Incoming File Transfer Window popping up.I'd really like to stop it, hide it or make it invisible. Can't work out how to do it though - can't seem to get at it via applescript, can't find a 3rd party app, Terminal tweak or a workaround.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while all applications that are open will stutter when I minimize or maximize them. I can't really explain it other then the fact that the animation in not smooth. When I restart the computer everything goes back to normal and is smooth. I notice this happening after I install or update a program. This usually occurs right after I see the color wheel spinning.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I was toying around with this app I learned about recently called Secrets. It's an add-on for your System Preferences. For those who don't know what it is, it easily changes preferences in many Apple apps like iTunes, Finder, etc that Apple didn't make public for change and without you directly using Terminal commands to make the changes. Definitely check it out if you're interested in tweeking your system a bit.
Anyway, so while playing with it, changed some wanted things, and some things which I wasn't sure what they were but decided to change it anyway and see what happened.
I did something to my dock where when you minimize a window open, it'll go down normally into the dock, but instead shows the top left corner of that window rather than showing the whole window. It looks like this when I minimize...

I want to change it back to the default option where it minimizes and shows the whole window rather than just the top corner. This is bugging me! I can't figure out what I did and went through all the options in Secrets.
Anyone know the Terminal command to change it back to the default or any other alternative to change it back to normal?
[If anyone asks what icons those are in my dock, it's the Litho 2.0 series from Icon Factory.]
Suddenly my emails are taking up the whole screen so I have no editing options.. I cannot minimize without the options.. When I have emails up I have no dock icons.

Instead of the window minimizing and taking up even more room on the dock, it just hides in the already existing icon (in this case the active window hides in the safari icon). When I click minimize on the actual window this happens:
Now Safari is taking up two spaces on my dock. Is there any way to make it so every time, no matter what the window is, if you click minimize or even exit, it hides the window as opposed to minimizing it and wasting a dock space?
Check this out. Minimize iTunes using the green button to get the mini-player. Then plug in your iPhone. iTunes 8.1.1 no longer expands and pops to the front of your screen! That's really cool! I noticed this in 8.1.1, but it could have been introduced in 8.1, I don't know.

I've gone to Finder/Preference/Advanced and unchecked the 'show all file extensions' option, but it does nothing. To remove the file extensions, I literally have to go into each individual file. While copying files from my digital camera xD card onto my mini, the Card reader un-mounted itself and remounted its self several times, I have no idea why...Now I have a load of 0Kb files in the folder where I was copying to. I can delete these, but they come up with a "file in use" error message so I need to click for each file to be deleted... ~350 left I did try a restart thinking that may clear up any "pending" file transfers from the system to allow them to be deleted like a normal file

There is probably an easy fix to this, but I am clueless. I just made the big switch to Mac recently, so bear with me.When I am in Safari trying to upload an image the file upload box remains blank. The little load icon is constantly "loading" but nothing ever really loads. So, I cannot uplad any files. Originally, I thought it may have just been a bug in Facebook. But, I went to my blog as well to try and upload images, but the same thing happens.

Rebooting this question to keep it simpler. Using the above, when I try to relink to files that are definitely the same type and size (WAVs or AIFFs only), the process SEEMS to work; the progress bar to confirm matching file goes through, file name disappears from the link search window and at the bottom it says (when searching for 1 file) Matched: 1 out of 1.
But nothing changes, still just red empty clips in Event Browser and Timeline. I've tried deleting original file references / aliases from the Original Media folder, tried linking to the new file from various older folders, tried changing the names of files, just nothing. I've trashed preferences with Preference Manager. Is this some bug they left behind in Mountain Lion because they think we should all be in Mavericks by now? I'm afraid to upgrade to 10.1.1 anyway with some older projects I still need to use - and I have other reasons to wait as well.
I have a 17gb movie that I had to complete for school and finished it at home on my PC, now I have to transfer the 17gb thing from home to school. Names of any Portable HD's that work between both OS? Willing to spend money if that helps I just have to drop the file onto the mac so i can sumbit it, So would NTFS work?

When I have a folder open, say downloads, in a list view, and I delete a file, the scroll bar will automatically jump to the top of the list. It's absolutely non-sensical. One of the most annoying things ever when your trying to organize a long list of files. Happens in 10.8.5 and in Mavericks on two separate computers. It's worse in 10.8.5 as sometimes it will glitch out and do it even when I am scrolling down the list. . Kind of thing that makes you want to switch to windows.
How do I turn this off?
I work all day on my MAC 27" and am constantly opening files....
But how do I customise the 'open file' window. Every time I open a file I have to increase the size of the window, change the view and then look for my files.... is there a way to set the default view to what I would wish it to be?
I have enclosed a screen shot of the default open file window.... I would like a bigger window...... and be able to see 'list view' as opposed to icons each time.

I was copying some music over from a CD onto my computer and I can listen to it all on itunes but it still says it's copying over. I can't eject the CD because it says it's still in use! What do I do to make this stupid transfer box go away!?

I did the data migration (used the network. we don't own a firewire cable) for her user account and files, she is still using parallels v3.0, and during the migration the 19 GB parallels volume file didn't transfer properly? so after a successful migration (other than the above) I went back to her 17" macbook pro, ran parallels successfully, compressed the parallels volume, ran parallels again successfully on the 17", then moved the volume file over the network to the 24" iMac, again the parallels program on the 24" iMac (which was just migrated from the 17") reports the parallels volume file is corrupted? what/where should I look for an answer on this one?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am transferring a folder of files from my MacBook Pro to my MacBook over wi-fi (Time Capsule / 802.11n network). Total folder size is 1.41 GB, and Finder is telling me it will take about 30 minutes (down from an initial estimate of 2 hours, which quickly dropped to an hour, then 48 minutes a couple minutes later).
The transfer rate is roughly .5MB every 1.5s or so in real time. . .is this about right, or do I have something set up very wrong?
These are two Macs, connecting to each other over a Time Capsule network (wirelessly); I have file sharing and Back-to-my-Mac turned on on both of them.
