I have a 8gb memory stick and want to transfer my 5gb zip file to it but I get error code 0. I read this is because my zip file is too big in FAT format and that if I change it to ntsf or something I'll be able to transfer it.
1. How do I change it into ntsf format
2. What should I download to write into the ntsf format memory stick on my mac.

I have a number of hard drives I have used over the years to back-up my photos from my memory cards and would now like to create a single ("master") drive with a single copy of each photo I have taken. Unfortunately there is a far bit of overlap on the multiple drives - that is, the same exact photo has been backed up to more then one drive and quite possibly in a different directory location. Is there a program for the Mac that will compare what is already on the "master" drive and just copy over the unique photos from each separate hard drive?

I've got a problem with my Mac - it's a 2.1ghz Macbook (not the new type, the polycarb one) running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and all of the latest updates. Well, apart from the newest iTunes version as for some reason it won't let me install that...anyway.
Whenever I open a folder with a large number of JPGs in it (about 300, 700mbs worth) in Finder, it only loads that screen of thumbnails. Scrolling up and down will crash Finder for about 3 minutes until those thumbnails load. Trying to Quick Look any of those images will crash Finder completely and bring the whole machine to a standstill with the spinning pinwheel - in the end, it will quit with a EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) message.
This has only started happening recently. At first I thought it was a problem with Finder, but if it's causing other apps to crash then it's something else...
Opening any of the images in that folder with an app such as Xee will cause that app to crash with the same message.
I've done these things so far:
- Delete preference files
- Clear all DSTOREs from the boot volume
- Reset SMC
Looking at the problems other people have had, it points toward possible bad RAM although the BAD ACCESS message seems to be fairly generic.
I've had a Mac for about a year now and I can't count how many problems I've had like this. Most of them have been solved by Google-ing the symptoms, but I'm at a dead end with this. The last Software Update prevented the machine from booting past the loading screen so I've already had to reinstall once. In the two years before I had my Dell with XP, I never had any problems, however small...and I've had to hard power down this thing due to software crashes more times than the Dell. If these problems are part of Mac ownership, it's a shame as I really like it, but I'm going back to XP otherwise.

A coworker in the office often sends me images for ads and jpgs with apple mail that come from her come through much smaller than they were sent to her, and they come in the body of the email instead of as an attachment. I've watched her do it and she is attaching correctly. PDFs come through just fine. Even when she just forwards an email with a jpg, it still comes through small and in the body of the email. Is there something in the preferences that needs to be changed? Any idea what might be happening. I use gmail myself so I'm not sure what to tinker with.

I know about the "actual size" button, dragging from the desktop instead of using iPhoto, checking outgoing size with control-click Quick Look, Send Windows-friendly attachments, etc., but none fix the problem. All JPG attachments get reduced to thumbnail size. I have to zip them and the recipient then needs to decompress them to get the full size images.Â
Is there a way to reset all preferences without uninstalling/reinstalling? I don't want to have to archive/export mailboxes and then reimport.Â

So my question is simple. I have the base 13" mbp. So I have 2 x 1GB sticks. Can I get 1 x 4GB stick and make that total 5GB? Or do I have to purchase in pairs (2 x 4GB)?

I have a few USB sticks of 2GB size each, and I am trying to copy some image files onto them. I can copy a few images, and then the systems says that the USB stick is full!!! I know that's not the case though because when I go to the "File info" of the files already copied on USB, they are all together much smaller than the USB stick size.
Does anybody knows what is going on?
PS. I am using Mac OS X 10.5.6, on a new Macbook Pro. I have already updated the system software and iTunes (someone said it might cause problems).

How to reformat a memory stick in Mac OSX SL? Because I have a 128MB empty memory stick, yet it says there is only 5.2MB free, and when I try to copy a 17MB file to it, it says it won't fit.
How do I reformat it completely so it fixes?

I have been doing some research on the MacBook Air's Flash Storage and according to the repair and servicing manual for the MacBook Air (see attached files) there is an actual Memory Sick that is in the MacBook Air and is not soldered to the Main Logic Board. This part of the service manual tells you how to remove the memory stick and replace it. Everyone clams it is "non-user replaceable" but this guide suggests that is it possible, if one was able to purchase one of the Memory Sicks.

Is it possible that when you are going through the process of installing windows from the Boot Camp that you can boot XP from a USB stick instead of a CD to install Windows on my Macbook Pro?
It seems that my dvd drive is no longer functioning properly because it won't read any dvd/cds in it. So I wanted to know if I could install windows via a usb stick instead of a cd.

I am looking for a USB TV-stick for my MacBook. I will be using it to watch Freeview (Digital TV in the UK).
The things I'm looking for is that the stick works well with Macs, the software is easy to use, and some recording/scheduling function.
The choices I found so far are:
Elgato EyeTV for DTT
Equinux TubeStick
Miglia TVMini2
The current champ seems to be the Elgato, but pricey at nearly 50. Any ideas about the other two?
I am also open to suggestions to other USB TV-sticks that work well with Macs.

I purchase Lion from the App store & set up Lion on my Macbook, on a partition on my Exterior Hard Drive. Also wanted to install Lion on my early 2009 Macmini. I want to install it, on a partition on the Macmini. A clean install of 10.6.8. is on that partition.
Instead of downloading it again, I put the "InstallESD.dmg" on a 16 gig USB stick. I boot into the Mac OSX USB Stick Install, then near the end of the installation, a error message said ''Cant Download the Additional Components Needed to Install Mac OSX''

My company started to use encryption software on our computers in work. They use PeeCee, I have an iMac 3.2GHz Intel. I bought a 16GB Tough N Tiny Verbatim Memory Stick. The encryption software used was TrueCrypt as you can use it both on Mac and PeeCee. Â The problem is I can see my memory stick on a PeeCee but not on my Mac. The IT is indifferent to my issue. He reformatted the stick a number of times. Says it comes up on the Mac in his workshop, however, it doesn't come up on every Mac computer in work. And more importantly it doesn't come up on my Mac. Â
I have reformatted to FAT32, reformatted to Mac, given it to the IT guyS!!, updated all software on all computers, I've used terminal to locate it, I've used Disk Utility to locate it. is it my Mac's fault (other memory sticks come up), is it my sticks fault (it did work once, and works on all PeeCee and some Macs), should I burn it and buy a new one (theres nothing of any importance on it?

I have a G5 and added 2.5 GB of RAM sometime ago. I added 2 1GB sticks and two 256MB sticks. The computer was fine. Recently I checked the system profile and it only showed I had 512MB of RAM. I moved the sticks around and when I placed the sticks starting with the outside slots and worked in, it will recognize the first two slots but not the other two.

I keep my files (movie, tv shows) on a separate hard drive. When I drop them into iTunes, I tag them (get info, then put the info). But, they don't seem to stick to the files themselves. Meaning, if I put them on the iTunes on my laptop, I have to do the same thing over again. Kind of a pain with so many tv series. So, can anyone recommend a tagging software for videos.

I have a 4GB Kingston usb stick and I have it formatted to MS-DOS (FAT32) so I can swap files between my Mac at home and PC at work. All works fine except when I put the files onto it from my Mac it takes soooo much longer than to do the same from my PC (similar specs with regard to CPU and Memory, if that makes a difference?). Why is it so slow copying files to it from my mac than from my PC? Is it because of the formating of the stick
