Aug 29, 2009Having installed Snow Leopard today on my macbook, I was keen to set up Mail, iCal and address book with my exchange account. However, when I use any of these apps to detect my account settings, it crashes the respective programs. Entourage web services manages to connect my accounts but I don't find it particularly user friendly. Has anyone had a similar experience? If I can't resolve this, is there a way to manually configure accounts in the new apps?

But i wanted to also give them read only access to another folder on another drive. I'm able to easily access it and use my login to access the public folder on my home network. My question is, how can i set up a system by which remotely, I can login to access JUST the public folder on my mini. Is this possible? Mar 26, 2010One of my customers is experiencing an error with one particular Exchange 2007 shared calendar in iCal. The shared calendar he has access to is in the Delegation tab of the Exchange account as Read Only, which is his correct level of access. The calendar will initially load correctly, but over time it starts to display an error with recurring events similar to this -- "iCal can't save the event "office time - do not disturb" to the exchange server. The account can't be modified. To discard your changes and continue using the version of your calendars that's on the server, click Revert to Server. To save your changes on your computer until the problem is resolved. click Go Offline." After selecting both Go Offline or Revert to Server, it cycles through all the recurring events on an infinite loop. If you select Go Offline, the errors will stop, but taking the account back online to get calendar updates will result in the error immediately returning. Removing and re-adding the account in the delegation tab will refresh the calendar without error for a short period of time, but the errors will eventually pop up again.

Aug 28, 2009I bought a Seagate Free Agent Go Flex External drive. I transferred all my files from my previous external HD. When I went to access my folders on my external HD, the folders are all locked, with Sharing and Permission section in the Information "Everyone: Read" only! I can't change any of the information or move things! All of them are locked and "read only." I know how to change it, but only manually, individually. I have several hundreds of folders and I don't want to manually change all of them to "Read & Write." Is their a way to let me re-set the folders to "Read & Write" easily??

Jul 22, 2010I can't take Entourage (2008) any more - the constant garbling of the enormous single database file (and the database "repairs" which always seem to lose data) are driving me crazy.
Our institution is going to upgrade to Exchange 2007 (or perhaps 2010) in a few weeks, and I need to move to a more stable client. I'm running the latest 10.6. Can someone advise me: do I want Apple Mail, Thunderbird, or something else? My criteria are:
1) I need to be able to access Exchange email, Calendar, and Addressbook, but not necessarily with the same application.
2) I have a very large database of emails - 22 Gigs or so, and I need to be able to view and search them all. So,
3) which client will make migration from Entourage easiest?
4) which one is the most stable, so that this huge (and growing database) won't get corrupted? It's insane that one bad action can ruin the whole thing. Surely there are clients that store emails separately so that even if something gets damaged, the whole thing isn't munged.

Aug 21, 2014I Have two Microsoft exchange mail one mail works properly, but the other has developed problem from past one week. Mails are automatically getting deleted every day, sometimes every few minutes. I have to restart the computer to again download the mails. The mails only get deleted from my computer and not the exchange. Also, would like to inform my MAC pro book got infected with Trojan.gen.2 virus. Which I discovered with Nortons antivirus software. I installed this software as I doubted if my mails are getting deleted owing some virus. Although my MAC is free of virus, the issue with one exchange mail remains and emails still gets deleted.

May 3, 2008After numerous posts on the Apple Discussions site and spending 4 hours one afternoon with the "geniuses" I still can't send email from the SMTP setting for my Exchange account. I've literally tried everything, IMAP is turned on on the office server, we use MXLogic for upstream/downstream filtering but the IP address is the same as it is for our network. I'm beyond frustrated. Is anyone else having issues with SENDING mail via their Exchange server settings? Hotmail and my .mac account send and receive just fine. I've had to "send on behalf of" with every email that I respond to viw the work Exchange server and it's pretty ridiculous.
At the apple store, I used the same exact settings in their Entourage account that I use in Mail and it IMMEDIATELY connected and allowed me to send. I'm just not real fired up over spending $150 for bloated MS software when I've been operating just fine without it.

We've tried syncing our calendars in many ways and after thinking we found the answer (via mobile me) realized it was a mess because odd appointments kept showing up. So I have two choices. Either make my MAIL and ICAL app sync to the exchange server, or find a way to sync both work (laptop) and personal (the one that would be used as the server at home) without having weird appts coming up on everyone's calendar.

Now here's my dilemma. I want to set this up on my MacBook Pro for Mail. I'm running Snow Leopard, so theoretically it should work because Mail 4 and Snow Leopard support Microsoft Exchange, but when I enter my email address and password into Mail, it automatically creates the new account using the Gmail IMAP server instead of the Exchange server.
Is there any way to manually setup a Gmail account using the Exchange server in Mail 4?

When I re-configured, the inbox only seems to be downloading the previous three days of messages. I have searched all the configuration boxes and can't find anything about days of messages to download. I want it to re-downloard everything in the Inbox on the server.
