View 4 RepliesHow long should I be stuck on the screen "calculating space required to restore data"? I've been on this screen for about 20, 30 minutes. The "hash mark wheel" is spinning, but just not seeing anything new. Is this normal? My backed up data is ~100 GB.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have a 120GB hard drive in my macbook and want to put in a 500GB one. I have a ton of stuff already installed and don't really want to re-install everything from scratch on the new 500Gb one. Question is can I use Time Machine on an external drive that already has stuff on it? Or do I have to use a freshly formatted one for it to work?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've searched the forums but still can't find the answer I'm looking for. This morning, I tried something on my iPhone called MyPhone+ which syncs my contacts on my phone with my Facebook account. This was all well and good, until I realized that it overwrote all the address information. which then went to mobileme, and then overwrote everything on my mac. SO, I looked in Time Machine, and my address book is perfect as of 6:00 am this morning. I selected that point in time, and clicked the RESTORE button, but nothing changes. Is it not possible to restore the data in address book to a point in time from the Time Machine backups?

I am a recent convert to Apple products & have a macbook. The hard drive was upgraded with a 500gb drive. Having imported all my files from old pc it seemed to work fantastically well for approx 2 months, then it started to misbehave! It seems that I have a problem with the HD. I have removed the faulty HD and replaced with a spare. All of my data remains on the faulty HD. I have purchased a external drive caddie & have attemted to 'mount' the faulty drive to copy info back onto mac.

My Powerbook is all banged up. Anyway, the little needle-type thing in the power hole broke off so it's no longer operating. I have a bunch of eMacs and iMac G5s/Intels around the house.. Can the powerbook harddrive connect to them so I can restore some data or do I need to find another solution?

I like many of you Mac users am very interested in Snow Leopard. I'm wondering however, if I decide to do a clean installation, will I be able to bring back all my files with Time Machine like you could do with Leopard? (I remember when I first connected my Time Machine HDD to my current computer it asked me if I wanted to restore my data) Also, will my Apps also be in restored onto Leopard? Or would it just be my files?

I had a problem with my Macbook pro for some unknown reason my HDD crashed and stopped working, so I had to replace it, with a new one. Fortunately I have a 1TB My Passport Time Machine Backup that contains all my data. I had spent hours to reintsall Snow leopard, update the machine and then upgrade to Lion. The only thing now I need to do is to restore all my data. can I restore my Apps, Music, Video, my sketch up drawings and projects? or am I forced to repurchase my Apps and media?

How to reset iTune
View 1 Replies View Relatednot sure if this have been asked, i couldn't find anything in the forum search... I've noticed since i've done the latest OSX and iTune updates on my Macbook, that iTune will often freeze, esp if i have it running along any other apps, such as safari, firefox, or just even if my screen saver comes on while the music plays. The activity monitor will show iTune as Not Responding.. therefore i always have to Force Quit the application. if I dont do so, the whole system will freeze and i'll require to reboot it with the power button..
anyone else noticing this problem? I noticed that my other macbook pro does the same, thought I'd throw the question out there and see if other ppl are experiencing the same issue.
So I downloaded a bunch of audio in .mp3 format that I drag onto iTunes.
The filenames are like 213.mp3 or 23.mp3
When I plugin my ipod, the filenames are all wacky looking.
Why is that? (note: the .mp3 audio is not in english)
Can I rename them so they show up as 213.mp3 on my ipod also?
I am considering for new backup storage because my old seagate freeAgent is almost full. TimeCapsule is the 1st choice in my list. I hope that the nDraft wireless+internal harddrive will improve the transfer speed more than connecting USB with external harddrive. I'm using Asus WL-500W+external harddrive as a NAS in my home network. It data transfer rate is extremely slow, eventhough my NIC is 802.11n.
However, I have 4 macbook pro, 1 iMac, 4 ipod touch connected to my ADSL router so, it will be great if TimeCapsule is able to be the iTune server.
Many review indicate that the TimeCapsule is spontaneously dead after warranty date is expired T_T. Have apple fixed this point?
So I clicked on an ad for an app store app and was taken to the app detail page in safari, which then launched itunes to display it in the app store.
It instead took me to the same page in safari....but shown in iTunes. I can now navigate the apple website in place of the iTunes store.
Anyone has any idea of merging your current Itune library with the previous library?
I have a backup my old Itune library into my backup disk (I copied the whole folder in the HD>Music>Itune into the disc). Now that I have reloaded my machine and subscribe to some of the new Itune podcast that I am interest in. Now I end up with 2 library (one in my machine and another one in my backup disc). Is there any way to merge 2 library together? I really doesn't want to redownloaded everything again.
I am trying to restore my MacBook Pro to its factory settings. All data were erased and tried to reinstall the Lion. When my apple ID and password were entered, the following message came out:Â "This Apple ID has not yet been used in iTune Store"Â
Then, I was not allowed to reinstall the Lion. Yes, I did not buy anything from the iTune Store. How can I reinstall the Lion.Â

Every single non-iTunes songs transferred without issue - 27,000+ of them but every single iTunes purchased songs, only 400 of them, did not.
