ITunes :: How To Transfer ITune Purchases Made Under A Different Apple ID
May 19, 2012have just purchased an I-Pad and downloaded Pages from I-Tunes account onto my MacBook Pro, with the intention of syncing documents between the Macbook and my I-Pad via the Cloud... however, without noticing it at the time, I must have had a different user ID when I first registered in I-Tunes a couple of years ago [on the Macbook pro].When I bought my I-Pad a few weeks ago, I registered in the Cloud with a nice shiny new ID and now, of course, when I want to download the Pages App I've just purchased on from the MacBook onto my I-Pad, it won't recognise on the I-Pad interface that I've already bought it [under my old ID].

Dec 16, 2009So like many people I have (had) a very unorganized iTunes folder. I decided it was time to basically put all my files in the same format and add a bunch of the missing information to the files, most notably the artist name. I have always saved my files in the following format: Artist name - song name .mp3. then I would just add the files into itunes and of course it would not add any info into the artist field for those songs. Through windows explorer, I added artist names to all of my files and changed some of the file names but how do I go about updating iTunes to reflect these changes?

Aug 31, 2008I have my iTunes music on an external drive. I set the location of the iTunes Music Folder to the location on the external drive in Preferences. But next time I open iTunes, it's reset back to the location on the built-in HD where iTunes places the folder by default. External HD is sometimes disconnected (though not when I'm resetting it). Maybe if iTunes can't find the drive it reverts back? Powerbook G4, OSX 10.4.11, iTunes 7.7.1.

Mar 25, 2009iTunes 8.1 just keeps bugging out on me. I set my iTunes Music Folder Location to a folder on my Time Capsule, but when i exit out and relaunch iTunes, the folder location is reset back to the default iTunes Music folder on my system drive! Why does this keep happening? Anyone else having this problem? I don't want to have to point my location back to the Time Capsule each time I load up iTunes.
A thing to note is however, is that my library file (and other misc itunes files) still remains in the iTunes folder on the system drive. Would that have anything to do with this?

Mar 9, 2010Is there a way to reset the position of iTunes video windows? I usually use an external 23" monitor with my MBP and sometimes I move the video I'm watching on iTunes out of the MBP screen (on the external monitor). But, when I use the MBP without external monitor and I try to play iTunes video, the video is out of the screen, basically I can't see it and I can't find a way to move it into the screen (I can see it using expose').

Aug 7, 2009not sure if this have been asked, i couldn't find anything in the forum search... I've noticed since i've done the latest OSX and iTune updates on my Macbook, that iTune will often freeze, esp if i have it running along any other apps, such as safari, firefox, or just even if my screen saver comes on while the music plays. The activity monitor will show iTune as Not Responding.. therefore i always have to Force Quit the application. if I dont do so, the whole system will freeze and i'll require to reboot it with the power button..
anyone else noticing this problem? I noticed that my other macbook pro does the same, thought I'd throw the question out there and see if other ppl are experiencing the same issue.

Sep 7, 2010So I downloaded a bunch of audio in .mp3 format that I drag onto iTunes.
The filenames are like 213.mp3 or 23.mp3
When I plugin my ipod, the filenames are all wacky looking.
Why is that? (note: the .mp3 audio is not in english)
Can I rename them so they show up as 213.mp3 on my ipod also?

Sep 9, 2009I am considering for new backup storage because my old seagate freeAgent is almost full. TimeCapsule is the 1st choice in my list. I hope that the nDraft wireless+internal harddrive will improve the transfer speed more than connecting USB with external harddrive. I'm using Asus WL-500W+external harddrive as a NAS in my home network. It data transfer rate is extremely slow, eventhough my NIC is 802.11n.
However, I have 4 macbook pro, 1 iMac, 4 ipod touch connected to my ADSL router so, it will be great if TimeCapsule is able to be the iTune server.
Many review indicate that the TimeCapsule is spontaneously dead after warranty date is expired T_T. Have apple fixed this point?

Jun 24, 2010So I clicked on an ad for an app store app and was taken to the app detail page in safari, which then launched itunes to display it in the app store.
It instead took me to the same page in safari....but shown in iTunes. I can now navigate the apple website in place of the iTunes store.

I have a backup my old Itune library into my backup disk (I copied the whole folder in the HD>Music>Itune into the disc). Now that I have reloaded my machine and subscribe to some of the new Itune podcast that I am interest in. Now I end up with 2 library (one in my machine and another one in my backup disc). Is there any way to merge 2 library together? I really doesn't want to redownloaded everything again.

May 10, 2010I am in process of setting up a new computer system. I've purchased a Windows 7 PC and am migrating my music from a PowerPC Mac. Both systems are active authorized iTunes computers. I set them up to share and used the share utility to import my entire library into the new system.
Every single non-iTunes songs transferred without issue - 27,000+ of them but every single iTunes purchased songs, only 400 of them, did not.

MUST FIX: I CANNOT MOVE any icons or folders whatsoever (except to the Trash)! I checked the log too, but I have no idea what to look for there. This happened right about 1-2 days ago (11/20-22/2009).
BONUS FIX: As for iTunes, well it got bugged (clicked and didn't activated), so I deleted it and I don't know how to reinstall iTunes. This happened some years back, so I almost forgot about it.

May 18, 2010I have a long oversea flight coming up, do you guys know if the below setup will work? google result is inconclusive, some say it does others say it doesnt..
1) download itune movie rentals to my macbook pro at home
2) once on the plane, with the internet off, play the downloaded itune movie.
Will it play? does it require internet? some of the reports are saying they get error message saying cannot connect to itune store etc... but those are from early 2009. Anyone know for a fact if this works, or not work?

Feb 28, 2010 recently had a small USB issue, so I reset my PRAM which fixed it.Now every time I boot the PRAM will reset itself. This particularly annoying because:1) It takes longer to boot as it restarts again and again (sometimes 3-4 times).2) I have the boot volume set to 0 and when the PRAM is reset it will go back to default which isn't fun [and it loud].
3) I have verbose mode on and a PRAM reset removes that as well, so I need to do the 2-finger combo [which on the bluetooth keyboard doesn't work half the time].I can't seem to fix it. I've done all the usual things (ie: manual PRAM reset with 4-finger combo, SMC reset, reseating hardware, disconnection hardware) and I've also gone ahead and installed OS X on a new volume for testing. Nothing is working and this getting a little frustrating.I try not to restart my computer, but recently I've needed to it a couple times. Apple Support doesn't know what to do and they're reluctant to send a on-site tech because they're not sure what the issue is. They want me to take my computer to the Apple Store, but (1) I don't have a car, (2) it's windy and snowing like crazy outside so there is no way I'm walking a mile to the Apple Store carrying the Mac Pro by hand, and (3) even if it was sunny outside my computer weighs a lot.Anyone know what's going on here? The computer passes all hardware tests and disk scans reveal no bad sectors.

MacBook Pro :: Resetting All Settings?
Sep 8, 2010I had a MacBook for about a year now and a few weeks ago I started having problems with videos from online (ex. YouTube). They would start loading and stop, on and off. It would load about 2-3 seconds of video every few minutes. So I reset safari and everything, that didn't help. Anyway, I got a MacBook pro last week, and I transferred everything from my MacBook to the MacBook pro via ethernet cable. I am not experiencing this problem on the MacBook pro since the transfer. I reset safari again, no help. Have had friends use their computers on my wifi network, they all work fine. My speeds are over 10mbps. So my question, I don't want to erase all of my data, as I have no means to backup my iTunes library which is huge and all my documents and such. Is there a way to go back to factory settings though? Like should I reinstall the OS without erasing my data?

Oct 10, 2010I set my fn key to display all windows (same as F3 default). I would like to remove this, but it doesn't show up on the system preferences shortcut list. Pressing "Restore Defaults" does nothing to alleviate the problem. Is there a way that I could reset all of my default shortcuts through terminal or something more powerful than system preferences?
