My imac takes my password and then the color wheel displays. The screen cycles quickly and then comes back to type password again. I have shut down and restarted the computer multiple times.Â
I have just bought iMac and on installation did a transfer of settings from my Macbook Air. Now my iMac does not recognize my password or master password
basically i have an old imac computer which doesnt come up with cd and i forgot the password, I have read some tutorial that tells how to reset the password by:
holding down the command +s key when we hear the tone of imac at the startup and then insert some command line.
The issue with me is that i tried it in mnay ways but i cant get to the terminaleverytime at the startup i use apple+s key ,nothing happens ,it loads normally and gets to the login screen, keys seems to be fine what can be the issue and is it there any way to get to the terminal w/o having cd etc.
I do not know if this is in the write section, but oh well.
I pressed "option" to switch between drives but it came up that I needed to put in a password. I know the password anyways. Here is what I am getting at, is there any way when I boot my computer it can ask me for the password before getting to the desktop?
If I want to sign in to this message board, I can do so. I can also sign in on my iPad to download updates, purchase new apps and songs, etc. And I can sync my iPad to iTunes on my iMac. But when I open iTunes on my iMac, it asks for my password and I can't sign in. What is causing this problem with iTunes on my iMac repeatedly asking for my password when I open iTunes?Â
This is very frustrating. I am also worried that I won't be able to sync when my new iPad arrives March 16.
I just purchased a iMac G5 iSight (PPC). It had OS 10.5.8 Installed. I have to install some programs. How do I go about changing the new iMac's old owner's ID and password with out reinstalling the operating system?
The computer was my friends old one, which she gave to me as a gift. I'm trying to set a lock/password on it but it won't let me set one without the old password, which she doesn't know.
my 11 year old son just told me yesterday that he forgot his password on his imac. i don't know why he would have one, but he for got and now i need a way to get it back with out restoring the mac. i heard there is a prompt in terminal to get the password and possibly change it. does anyone know what this procedure would be?

I have an old school Indigo IMac. It was my uncle's and unfortunately he just passed away. I am attempting to install software but it wants the password. Obviously I cant ask my uncle. If I can not install my apps then this Mac will be worthless to me.
I want to know how I can assign a password to a couple of folders that I don't anyone opening. I saw this done in a movie but since its a movie I don't know if its possible...it was done on an Macbook
I use a new imac (recently replaced my old one for iCloud readiness) with 4GB memory, OS 10.7.3, and Mail regularly rejects my icloud password. I have checked the account settings and they are as suggested. I have no problem with my iPad or my iPhone which are both running iOS 5+, and my password works fine everywhere else Apple,
It happens at least once per day, and when I cancel the request for password in a few minutes, without further action on my part, Mail decides it does know my password after all! Not debilitating, but mildly annoying. Could this be an icloud issue? Maybe they need to work on this? Or (gasp) is it just me!
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 13333MH
Upgraded to Lion fairly smoothly. All seems to be OK (hate the monochrome finder icons..another stupid change like removing the blue progress bar with SL) Main problem is mail rejects my password on my imac but it works fine on iphone and ipad.
Trying to connect to a server on work computer, but nobody knows the password. The person who knows it no longer works here. It is not saved in keychain. How can I recover the password?
Does anyone know of a password protected browser for the iMac?  I have Atomic Browser for my iPad and would like something similar for my iMac. It needs to be quite simple (like safari ideally) but need to able to bookmark sites, use history etc so the multitude of "private" browsers (that don't store cookies, history etc) are no good.
