I am able to login to everything and set my username as the administrator, but I can not set a password for it, if i try to input a password or change the password I get an error message saying I have input an incorrect password. When I purchased the computer everything was blank except for the user name was set as mac user, as I said I was able to change the username but not the password.

It comes up and asks me for the password which is then rejected.Beyond reloading the OS not sure what options are. Did a permissions repair but no other luck.

Recently brought iMac in for software upgrade. now 10.10.1Â
After i got home, i realized that the iMac now always asks me to login with my password (which i do). But i would prefer not to have to login/put in password every time. just want my iMac to open as it always had.Â
I assume i go to system preferences/users & groups. i see i am the current user/administrator. When i click "change password" it says: "*** is using an iCloud password to log in and unlock the screen.
do you want to change your iCloud password or stop using your iCloud password to unlock this mac AND CREATE A SEPARATE PASSWORD?"Â
Don't want separate or any passwords. Do i just want to click the "change iCloud password" button? Ijust want to log in without a password. How do i do that?Â

He is now just setting it up again after he has recently moved and this will be his only computer… finally getting rid of the PC world of Bill Gates and into a real computer. However, he has forgotten the login password at start-up which was set-up at the Apple Store. Can I reboot the machine with a CD (have one for Snow Leopard) and change administration details this way even though is running OS X Lion?Â

I bought a pre-owned iMac, late 2011 running Lion, took it to the Apple store to have the hard drive wiped and Lion re-installed. Then I brought it home and migrated files via Time Machine over from my Mac Book Pro , early 2009, running Mavericks. Now my log-on password no longer works. What happened?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running OS X Mavericks, and when I want to, let's say, install a Sims 3 game, it asks for my administrator password. Now since someone else owns the computer (and they don't want me to know their password but I can install the games with their permission) I don't know the admin password, and I want to know, is there a way to bypass that admin password without having to reset it to a pass I know? Or do I just have to deal with the fact that I have to ask?
