What do I need to do to get the hard drive Macintosh HD to display so that I can reset my password on it?Â
I upgraded my imac to yosemite and now my kodak printer won't work. I have figured out how to fix this problem by reading through the community post but now need my system password to proceed. However I have forgotten it and not sure how to reset it.

I recently bought an early Imac G5 1.6ghz with 256mb ram and a 80gb hard disk. It came with no keyboard or mouse. All seems fine but when I try to change any settings it comes up with a password box which I obviously dont have and the guy I bought it from is not available. Its got Mac OS X v 10.6 operating system on it. Can anyone tell me how to reset the password without having the original DVD operating system disk.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro 13 inch (early 2011 - Intel Core i5 2.3Ghz) cannot get beyond password screen (bar half fills and freezes thereafter). Recently download Yosemite OS X as offered as free upgrade. Also changed the password last evening but that hardly is related to the issue. The bar is new on start up! It has worked albeit very slowly in recent days since Yosemite dowload. Was working in Mavericks okay.

I am trying to run Cache Out. The program asks for the system password. I type in my usual password that I use for installing programs, or trashing stuff from the system folder... It won't allow me to run the program, saying the password is wrong.
Does the login keychain have anything to do with the iTunes authorization required to play iTMS purchased music? If so, how do I reset the keychain without losing it?
The problem is that every so often the login keychain pops up asking me to enter a password. I've changed it and the keychain did not so they are out of sync. The only solution I've found was to delete the keychain. In 10.4.11 there doesn't appear to be any other way to sync the login password with the keychain password. Furthermore as I do not remember my old dotmac password nor my iTunes Music Store password, and as I no longer have access to either the Music Store nor dotmac, I worry that reseting the Keychain would lose access to all the music I've purchased throughout the years, and that's a lot of money spent for me to lose it.
The problems these brilliant people created are just so stupid I shutter to think what else they're messing up. I realize it's my fault for having to reset the password (even though it's a system bug in Mac OS X), but how do I resolve this problem?
I am having trouble remembering th initial password I set up for my mac when I first bought it. I am having difficulty downloading programs because I cannot remember my key chain password (login password).ow to reset it?
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy mother recently passed away and I've inherited her Mac Pro. She was the official "administrator" and no one knows her password. Is there any way to reset the password without knowing the original password? Or, is there a way to reset the whole laptop to factory settings? I'm not concerned about losing content from the laptop.

I have a mid 2007 24" iMac. It has been slowing down recently.I'm not clear as to the problem.Might it be due to the fact that it is running the latest operating system, 10.7.2, bloated, with only 4G of memory?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi bought a used 24" aluminum imac (2008 model) that was about 6 months old, but recently the screen has began to flicker...usually from a half to a full second every few hours or so. it sometimes will flicker if the mac is nudged on either side, but this doesnt always happen, even when i TRY to initiate it. its not really major, but im just worried that the whole display will crap out soon. ive found threads about screen flickering with macbooks and led displays, but nothing for imacs yet. im not sure if this matters, but the person i bought it from opened it up and replaced the hard drive. another contributing factor may be that i constantly run torrents and my mac sometimes stays on for days at a time. it doesnt seem to overheat and ive never had this problem with my other imac (2007 17" white). when im not using it, i keep the disks active, but put the monitor to sleep to prevent burn in. im assuming that since this guy replaced the HD, this would void any warranty, so i think im pretty screwed as far as thats concerned unless i pay out of my own pocket.

The only thing I remember doing was repairing disk permissions and changing a few iChat preferences. View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a macbook 3yrs ago and I let my brother use it and he locked it and I dont know what to do.
I tried to put the osx cd in and press c or option on startup and all I get is a lock asking for a password. On normal logon it asks for user name and password. He remembers the user but not the password. Is there any way to reset it completely?
He deleted my user and saved my files on his side.
I want my pictures and things but I dont have to have them
I just recently got an iBook G3. I found it in my towns recycling center and brought it home. The user on it does not have admin privileges. Seeing how it's old and is running 10.2 I was just going to install some sort of Linux on it. I went to go boot into a CD and it came up with a grey screen with a password prompt? I don't have the password. Does the same thing if I try to boot into single user mode.
