IMac PPC :: How To Recover Password Not Saved In Keychain
Apr 25, 2012
Trying to connect to a server on work computer, but nobody knows the password. The person who knows it no longer works here. It is not saved in keychain. How can I recover the password?
Every once and a while my fiance's computer will ask for the keychain password while using Safari. As she has forgotten the password everytime she just has to hit cancel. is there a way to reset this
My login.keychain password is not recognized anymore, i am very sure about the actual pwd string and I tried to restart apps and machine already, I believe the file got corrupted somehow, hence various applications such as FTP clients cannot autoconnect to external resources
I am bound to recover from a Timemachine backup, but all discussions are just dealing with recovering items in the keychain file once it is restored, what about the keychain master password? is it contained in the login.keychain file so that restoring that file to the HD will allow me to regain access to the saved items?
Safari keeps giving me popup windows saying a keychain can't be found. It's only just started doing this but it's really annoying. Could it have anything to do with the fact I installed a new flash player? That's the only difference I can think of.Also on another computer it keeps asking for a password to access the keychain. It only does this on one user account though. Any assistance is gladly accepted!
I am running OSX 10.9.2 on a 2011 iMac. For as long as I can remember it has relentlessly prompted me to enter my password for this keychain and that keychain. How to do I disable this annoying feature?
I have an IMACÂ OS 10.8Â I am terrible about remembering passwords and I am installing something and cannot remember my password. How to you recover it and or change it
I'm working on a Mac-mini running OS X Tiger. I've got one admin account setup and 5 or so standard accounts. I'm configuring a connection to a shared folder on a network server on the standard accounts and I wanted to connect to that share using an account id that is DIFFERENT than the standard account id. I enter that id and the correct password and I check "save password in keychain" (or whatever that check box says) and I get prompted to enter the "keychain password" to unlock the keychain. The problem is, I never setup a keychain password for the standard user account. I'v tried the password for the administrator account (even though I can't specify the admin id anywhere) and I've tried the password for the standard user account, neither of which work.
However, I can still get successfully connected to the shared folder. I just don't want the user to have to enter the password each time they login.
Additionally, after going through this, Safari is now asking for a keychain password for the "login" keychain when it first starts up and loads the default Apple.com home page.
so, i have gotten everything all set up and up and running but one thing that i have noticed is my network connection disconnecting itself. every time i have closed i the lid it has diconnected itself from the network. i realize that it goes to sleep when that happens and it shouldnt be really doing anything in sleep mode. but im kinda p-o'ed at how when i open it up i need to re enter the networs pass word. is there a way that i can make it so that it automatically connects to the network when its opened/turned on? i checked the box that "saves the password as a keychain" what ever that means too.
I am having trouble remembering th initial password I set up for my mac when I first bought it. I am having difficulty downloading programs because I cannot remember my key chain password (login password).ow to reset it?
My wife and son are at her parent's house tonight, and I'm back at our house. I sent her there with a new ipod touch, so we can Facetime (I have an iphone 4). I told her she'd have to input her dad's network password. When she gets there she calls and says he can't remember the password. Then I remember it's saved on my MBP. I look it up (Settings>Network>advanced>[His network]>edit) and I can tell it's 10 characters (10 dots), but the "show password" box is ghosted. Other networks are 9 or 16 or 14 characters. His is a WPA2 network, like most of the others on the list. I'm running OSX 10.6.4. I seem to recall there was a way to show the password of a saved network. My MBP connects automatically so it's on here somewhere.
I recently changed the password on my keychain and now when I boot up my computer, it'll ask me for the password everytime. It'll ask me randomly when opening some applications like Chrome, which stores its passwords in Keychain.
Here's a screenshot:
There is no "Always Allow" or anything like that. I have to enter it every time.
Also, I don't think this has anything to do with it, or maybe it does but I recently started using LastPass and 1Password (which I deleted the same day b/c I liked LastPass more). Could either of those applications be causing this problem?
My MacBook continually and randomly asks for my Keychain password. I have to cancel (or enter it) every time, it's pretty irritating. It seems to be totally sporadic.
Mail keeps asking for my Keychain password about every half an hour or hour, randomly, it seems. Also, when my Mac wakes up from sleep Mail always asks for my Keychain password. I think it started after I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Before Snow Leopard, Mail would ask me for my Keychain password once when I started the app and from then on never again until I relaunched it.
Keychain Issue. Keeps asking for the password for my mac account. When i type it, i keep getting "rejected the password. But it is the correct one. Verified in keychain access."The .Mac server [URL] rejected the password for user XXXXXXXX. Please reenter your password, or cancel."
A week ago, my computer (Macbook) "crashed". When I powered it up, it would go to the grey apple screen, then it would go to a blue screen, then it would switch to a light blue screen, then back to the darker blue screen, etc and never fully boot into OSX. I finally found my install discs for OSX and reinstalled my operating system from scratch, formatted my hard drive, and started new. Once I reinstalled, I realized how outdated and different everything looked... and I realized I was running OSX 10.4. So from there, I found my Leopard disc (10.5), put that in, and "Upgraded" my system to 10.5.
And basically here's where I'm at now:........................
Yesterday I changed the password to my keychain. Now every time I start up my MBP and start ichat it keeps asking for my keychain password. How to keep this from happening each time?
I recently created a Sparse Disk Image that I've password protected. When I try to open the Disk Image I get a popup window that has the words "Keychain Access" as the window title and the following text below that: "To perform this action you must unlock the keychain. Please enter the keychain password." Now, this is pretty straight forward (obviously). My question is, how do I (once I've unlocked the keychain and opened the Disk Image) immediately lock the keychain again so that if I step away from my computer my keychain isn't still open?
Hello i've noticed my applications e.g. Skype, Adium are no longer saving passwords even though I've checked the save to keychain option. I've repaired permissions and it still continues?
A few weeks ago I started getting some error messages from my AEBS that I have a couple of HDDs and a printer attached to.
After a long talk with Apple Support the problem mostly went away but now whenever I try to access my AEBS disks from the shared panel in finder is is gives me "connection failed" and I have to click on "Connect As" and enter my password.
The real problem is that no matter what I do I cannot get my keychain to remember the password.
Ever since I got my macbook, I've been trying to get everything in sync between it and my imac using mobile me. I had a lot of trouble with saved passwords and other things not syncing so I deleted both keychains and started over fresh. Now everytime I log on to either my imac or mac book I'mn asked for a password to access my keychain.
How can I disable this? Have a made a mistake somewhere in all this configuring? I've never really messed with keychain so I really didn't know what I was doing.
I've read a lot about Keychain but I must be missing something. I want to be able to secure Keychain itself whereby if someone where to get to my Mac while I got up for a second, they wouldn't be able to open Keychain at all without a password. I don't want them to be able to gain access to the program at all without a password. Is that possible?
How do I reset my "login" keychain password? I can't remember it. If it needs deleting, I don't have many passwords stored in that since I use Firefox most of the time and it doesn't store passwords in the keychain.
But when I use Safari it keeps asking for my login keychain password repeatedly.
So long story short I set up an account for my husband a while ago on my Macbook, he had full admin rights and privileges as do I, but he hasn't signed on for a few months. He has a ton of work on his account that he moved over from an old hard drive but he's forgotten his password. We've had history with password issues and he doesn't want me to see his and I don't want to know it. I was wondering if there was any way if I let him log on my admin account if he could simply view his password even though he was another user. According to him he remembers locking a bunch of documents using the same password so a simple reset won't work. Is there any way to use keychain to look at his admin account password without resetting it?
How can I change the password in keychain. My son put a password on safari and the one he used is different from the login password and I'm affraid one day I will forget it and have to reinstall everything.I would like to change it to the login password if possible or erase the password alltogether. Can I just delete safari from the keychain list or will this safari from working.
