i'm using hotmail and it's been a while that i know Mail doesn't support hotmail, until today...i found a post, below [URL]
it shows how to connect hotmails; however, i was concerned about safety.
it seems that mails are received through incoming server and outgoing server which i'm quite not familiar with.
will my personal info or mails be stored somewhere else or one might get touch to them some way or the other??
Recently, my email from my IMAC starting asking me for my Password. It won't accept my PW however, I can go to Icloud and check my email that way (with same password info). Does anyone have any ideas of how I can resolve as I would prefer to check email from the Mail icon on my homescreen???

So I may want to use the account from time to time but I don't need to be checking mail and downloading all the accounts. How can I set up a mail group to check mail from several accounts - but exclude one of the accounts (its duplicated you see). I am using outlook 2010.

I have a weird experiencing problem I have to shut email down and restart it to check on new email
when I tab the new e-mail icon it only checks for a 1/10 of a second not enough time to check server  so i shut down e-mail restart and finds new email
so question is were do i change in setting for e-mail to search a little longer

I'm using the native Mac Mail application, and I have a question regarding how the spell check feature works.
I currently have my preference set to have spelling checked when I send.
Mail not only spell-checks the text I've typed, but also the content of the forwarded text as well.
Everytime I open the icloud page I have to relog in with my username and password. Even if I click "keep me signed it." It is a royal pain.On a similar note...how do I get my icloud mail account to open in imail like allof my other email accounts?

My Spell Check in Mail (3.5) hasn't been "Checking as I type," even tho that setting is checked. I've done everything from restarting mail to shutting down my system and completely restarting the computer. That normally works when I've had this problem in the past. Not this time.
What's IS happening, is that Mail is doing a red underline in the first word of every new line of my email messages, even when those words are spelled correctly. However, aside from underlining the first word of each line, other misspelled words -- in the body -- are not being caught.
A few times now I have found my rules suddenly unchecked. I can't seem to find a pattern.

I want to only receive new email either once per hour or better still manually (once or twice during the day at a time chosen by me). That way I won't be bombarded with emails all day and can get on with my work.Â
So, I set the 'check for new messages' to 'manually'. Nevertheless I get email coming in frequently. Possibly every time I send an email, it also checks for new incoming mail (I'm not sure but that's my hunch).Â
How can I stop Mail from pulling in my new incoming email? Any answers to this? If I can't figure this out or it's not possible in Apple Mail, it might be time to switch (but I don't want to!)Â

new to apple, used to Thunderbird (window version) that detect your language and check the spelling automatically. I write emails everyday in 3 languages and so far what i do is: in a new email, right clic to open a menu, then clic spelling and grammar / clic show spelling and grammar / choose your language / close the menu. Mac is great, there MUST be a plug in or a faster way.

I have all the correct server settings etc and succesfully imported my mailboxes. The problem is that when I send an email it isn't from the right email address?? Is this a Mail problem or smth to do with my settings? Been having probs w Mac Pro w Lion seeming to hang on shutdown/restart. Have 'reopen windows' unchecked in prefs.  Was able to run through safe mode boot once but now seems to hang about 20% in everytime.  Have had to do shutdowns w power button (I hate that) or /by ctrl-option-command-esc Boot single user run rack -fy says 'apparently ok'Mount -uw / reports removed 10 orphaned or unlinked files and 10 directories?

I've been using my Gmail account just fine with the standard mail account provided by OSX and all of the sudden today its giving me this error "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Please check your settings". Its been working just fine for the past few months and my iPhone still gets new messages along wih my online GMail account. Any help?

I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me.
- Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail.
- If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.
