So far I haven't seen any uninstall options in all the software that I've installed, so if I were to uninstall programs that are linked to the Start Up list, how should I do it? Can I just delete them from the HD? Because for Windows, messing with files that are related to the registry or system can really cause big problems for the computer.

I installed this pinball game yesterday. I used a package to install it, so I didn't just drag the application into the folder. Now I don't want it anymore, so how can I completely remove everything it installed? I can't find an uninstaller file anywhere... but I want to make sure all of it's files and settings are gone.

Ok I've tried to completely uninstall Adobe CS4 Suite with no success. I've uninstalled using the Adobe Uninstaller, then deleted every Adobe folder off my hard drive. I've also tried using the clean uninstall script from Adobe.

I have Mac OS 10.5.8 running on a G4 tower (Power PC). I installed Adobe TidySongs for the Mac, but it didn't work correctly so I tried to uninstall it with App Delete. When I try install it again, the TidySongs installer says I already have the same version installed. Does anyone know what I need to look for to get rid of all remnants of previous install (including js file and where this would be located). Do I also need to uninstall Adobe Air installer (which would affect Adobe Media Player as well)?

I did an uninstall of Firefox, wanting to just go back and start over, clean. I went into my profile & deleted that (after saving to USB). Now I'm wondering abt getting rid of the icon and how do I check to make sure there is nothing at all on my computer. Isn't that what I want in the event I just want to start over? I love Firefox and just want to get it back on my system, operating properly.

I've been running the Little Snitch demo for some time now and have been noticing that the links that it tells me are active are wrong. This is what I read when I hover my mouse over the icon in the menu bar.
For example I'm downloading the Aperture 2 manual now from Apple however Little Snitch says that Safari is downloading it from [URL] or something. Like what the heck?
No other webpage, download or application was using the internet at the time. Is it that Apple uses this address or is it that Little Snitch has gone crazy?

Just curious if anyone knows of a program with similar features to Little Snitch that is shareware.
This has probably been brought up in another thread already but I wasn't able to find the answer I was looking for. If you happen to know of that conversation it would be awesome if you could post a link to it.

A few days ago I installed a legit version of Little Snitch on my iMac. The program and the internet worked fine but the pop ups were just too annoying. I uninstalled Little Snitch using the uninstaller that came with the program, restarted my computer and then my internet was crippled. I could access the internet through Firefox and safari but all other programs were unable to access the internet, including a shell script that I embeded on my Desktop and Azures. After trying everything I could think of, including restarting and looking for /System/Library/Extensions/LittleSnitch.kext I re-installed Little Snitch and all my programs work fine. Any way to get rid of Little Snitch while keeping my internet working?

One of the features I mostly like about Little Snitch is the Alert Panel pop ups, which give me full control of what type of access is given to which applications. Here is the alert panel: I found that some users dislike it, and even some discussions were started on how to get rid of it. That's not my case today. My Little Snitch was working perfectly until I decided to upgrade my Macbook HD to a higher storage. I went to an authorized Mac store, which replaced the new HD into place and advised me to go back home and boot the MacBook with the installation disk pressing C.
Then, after installation, I chose to restore my files from the last Time Machine backup. However, after doing this it seemed that many applications including Little Snitch started to operate differently... as if I would be running them for the first time. So in addition to the automatic Time Machine restore, I went to a manual restore of applications and library items. When I tried to overwrite the files of Little Snitch on the Library folder, I was asked my Administrator password. Then after typing it, I received the message that I did not have sufficient administrator preferences................

I upgraded to Snow Leopard last week but before I upgraded I exported all the Little Snitch settings. After the upgrade to Snow Leopard, I installed Little Snitch and imported the settings that I exported. Now everything works fine except MobileMe sync. I suspect Little Snitch is blocking some process that is causing this. I turned off the Network filter in Little Snitch and was able to do that MobileMe sync perfectly.

I'm getting the following report from LS on startup: ".sunupdate wants to connect to the following... then followed by a series of nonsense URLs: vxvhwcixcxqxd.com; stxeapbewbblp.com; and tygoiuoigwodd.com and then all again as .info/.net. What's going on?I've denied those connections in LS, but am now worried as I've heard about the Flashback trojan. I've also run through the Terminal commands to check and see if I'm infected, but those come back clean (or at least the instructions I followed for the '.K' version did... I don't know of any other check for other kinds).I've also written down the info for IP addresses, rev DNS names, process numbers, etc. that came along with the LS alert. But thought I'd better find out if it's a worry before typing in all that info.

I want to completely re-install Mac OS X on my Mac Pro for several reasons:
The system is old. I started it with 10.4.1 and upgraded it to 10.5, then to 10.6. On the way there, the system has been moved from an old Mac Pro to a new one.
The system has seen a lot of playing around with, tons of installs (incl. drivers) and by now is simply a grown mess with a lot of problems that I can't seem to fix nor want to fix.
So - I want a fresh start. And I need some help planing this.
Back in the days of 10.5 you had the option to "archive and install", which would simply move the old system to a folder and install a baby fresh Mac OS X on the system. You could then go ahead and move things like applications, the user library and what not from the archived location back to the new install, one by one, piece by piece, in a very controlled fashion.
With 10.6 that option is no longer available.so the question is: How do I erase and install Mac OS X 10.6 while retaining my old stuff? I know how to do the fresh install, the point is more like how do I keep and import old stuff...
How good is the migration assistant? I figure you can use it to import old stuff from a time machine backup.
In the end, I want a fresh install and be able to import things like preferences/library for certain applications (that I don't want to rebuild from scratch, like a huge Plex Media Center install) - without reimporting things that are causing problems on the current install.
Any ideas,

Anyway, before the celebrations begin I want to know how I can completely copy my current Mac's hard disk to an external hard disk so that I can then copy this all onto my new Mac. Forget networking old and new Macs, that's out of the question for reasons too complicated to go into here.
Ideally I'd like to have my new Mac with all of the apps and documents and what have you that I've got on my current Mac.
Can I achieve this all with Time Machine ie. can another Mac read the backed-up data from another Mac?

There have been many brief posts mentioning that unlike previous MBAs, the new MBAs do not slow down the CPU when heat goes beyond a certain point. Does this mean there is completely no CPU throttling at all? Or that it still throttles, but at a higher heat level? If there is completely no CPU throttling, then logically it should fall back to another common method of handling overheating which is to automatically turn off the machine (not a very elegant method, but at least it's something). Do the new MBAs do this? If not, how do they handle overheating?

I wonder if it is possible to hide the Dock completely. If you go to Dock settings and hide it, it will appear when the cursor near its edge. What I want, is to hide it completely - dont want it to appear all of a sudden and interrupt me. I found the app Dock Gone, which hides the Dock and makes it accessible via a keyboard-shortcut. Thing is, it costs $14.95, and I just want the dock to disappear.
Is there a way to do this? A terminal command or something? I guess there must be - Dock Gone is doing it somehow.

I opened up Garageband, went into preferences to configure the audio for my peripheral audio device, and the computer and curser locked up, so I had to shut it down by pressing the power button for 4 seconds. I restarted the G4 and it would only boot up to a blue screen with the pointer curser, but would not finish loading anything on the desktop, no icons, no menu, nothing. I tried restarting repeatedly this way, but got the same result each time.

My question is how can i find out what causes the freeze?

I have a:
Power Mac G4
1.25 GHz PowerPC G4
1 MB L3-cache
1.75 GB DDR SDRAM
And I would like to know how to completely powerclean my computer, I know that most of the things you delete or visit somewhere on the internet, or messenger conversations still get stored somewhere inside your computer, but not possible to find or simply delete. I want my computer to be faster etc. again because sometimes it's getting a little slower than it used to be. Also I maybe want to sell it, so I thought this would be useful then. I don't want to reinstall mac OS X again, because i have many important files, photos, memories, ... etc. on my computer and I am too lazy to make a huge backup. Any good free downloadable software that deletes all the hidden files, messenger history, caches, deleted files, etc.
