I uninstalled LittleSnitch with Appcleaner but I still have the network icon on my menu bar. Every few moments I get a notification that LittleSnitch trial is over. I did a search through spotlight for "little snitch" and I get no results.
how to fully remove LittleSnitch?
I've been running the Little Snitch demo for some time now and have been noticing that the links that it tells me are active are wrong. This is what I read when I hover my mouse over the icon in the menu bar.
For example I'm downloading the Aperture 2 manual now from Apple however Little Snitch says that Safari is downloading it from [URL] or something. Like what the heck?
No other webpage, download or application was using the internet at the time. Is it that Apple uses this address or is it that Little Snitch has gone crazy?
Just curious if anyone knows of a program with similar features to Little Snitch that is shareware.
This has probably been brought up in another thread already but I wasn't able to find the answer I was looking for. If you happen to know of that conversation it would be awesome if you could post a link to it.
A few days ago I installed a legit version of Little Snitch on my iMac. The program and the internet worked fine but the pop ups were just too annoying. I uninstalled Little Snitch using the uninstaller that came with the program, restarted my computer and then my internet was crippled. I could access the internet through Firefox and safari but all other programs were unable to access the internet, including a shell script that I embeded on my Desktop and Azures. After trying everything I could think of, including restarting and looking for /System/Library/Extensions/LittleSnitch.kext I re-installed Little Snitch and all my programs work fine. Any way to get rid of Little Snitch while keeping my internet working?

Here is the alert panel: I found that some users dislike it, and even some discussions were started on how to get rid of it. That's not my case today. My Little Snitch was working perfectly until I decided to upgrade my Macbook HD to a higher storage. I went to an authorized Mac store, which replaced the new HD into place and advised me to go back home and boot the MacBook with the installation disk pressing C.
Then, after installation, I chose to restore my files from the last Time Machine backup. However, after doing this it seemed that many applications including Little Snitch started to operate differently... as if I would be running them for the first time. So in addition to the automatic Time Machine restore, I went to a manual restore of applications and library items. When I tried to overwrite the files of Little Snitch on the Library folder, I was asked my Administrator password. Then after typing it, I received the message that I did not have sufficient administrator preferences................
I was wondering if anyone could suggest some other port blockers than little snitch.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo far I haven't seen any uninstall options in all the software that I've installed, so if I were to uninstall programs that are linked to the Start Up list, how should I do it? Can I just delete them from the HD? Because for Windows, messing with files that are related to the registry or system can really cause big problems for the computer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Snow Leopard last week but before I upgraded I exported all the Little Snitch settings. After the upgrade to Snow Leopard, I installed Little Snitch and imported the settings that I exported. Now everything works fine except MobileMe sync. I suspect Little Snitch is blocking some process that is causing this. I turned off the Network filter in Little Snitch and was able to do that MobileMe sync perfectly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm getting the following report from LS on startup: ".sunupdate wants to connect to the following... then followed by a series of nonsense URLs: vxvhwcixcxqxd.com; stxeapbewbblp.com; and tygoiuoigwodd.com and then all again as .info/.net. What's going on?I've denied those connections in LS, but am now worried as I've heard about the Flashback trojan. I've also run through the Terminal commands to check and see if I'm infected, but those come back clean (or at least the instructions I followed for the '.K' version did... I don't know of any other check for other kinds).I've also written down the info for IP addresses, rev DNS names, process numbers, etc. that came along with the LS alert. But thought I'd better find out if it's a worry before typing in all that info.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a MacPro (Intel), and I had my Music folder on a second (non-boot) internal drive. That drive was getting full, so I bought yet another internal drive to put in one of the other bays, thinking to copy the folders to the new, larger-capacity drive. So I bought a 2 Tb drive and transferred all my MOVIES to the new drive, but then went back and deleted my MUSIC folder and emptied the trash. I knew immediately that I'd made a mistake.
I haven't written anything to that drive whatsoever from that moment on, so absolutely nothing should have been over-written. I have plenty of room on the new drive to which I can recover the deleted files. Unfortunately the folder/directory was very large, with over 20,000 files, mostly of podcasts/spoken word stuff, much of which is no longer available or would represent thousands of hours of download time, plus all my digitized folk music from long out-of-print LP records.
You'd think I'd be more responsible with >600 Gb of data! However, fortunately the drive is in good working order, it just requires a good recovery strategy. I know that services that do recovery charge a fortune, and because I haven't written anything to that drive and it still mounts without problems, I'm hoping I can do this myself with a good data recovery software package. Because I am talking about literally thousands of files, it is just too painful to think about editing all the metadata about each file (name, artist, album, etc.), and ideally I would like to recover the files and the file structure so podcasts are recovered as such, etc.
Is this at all possible?
If so, what are the relative merits of File Salvage vs. Data Rescue vs. Kernel for Macintosh (Nucleus Data Recovery) vs. VirtualLab Data Recovery vs. Stellar Phoenix? Is there something better than these--these are the only ones I found on a Web search. Are there any head-to-head reviews of which someone is aware?
Okay so i downloaded the the iTunes 10, and installed it!
But the when i would like to see my Music Libary all my music was GONE!
As the title says i have installed the new version of itunes and it has removed my playlists, everyone even the recently added etc.
I deleted the mail app by accident is there any way to get it back? would prefer without the install cd but if this is the only way will have to find it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedShe just got an iPhone and I am trying to teach her to use the calender. I went onto her Mac to set up the sync (via Mobile Me) and realized that in her messing around on the computer she has somehow managed to erase iCal. And its not just that she moved the icon or anything simple like that but she has actually somehow deleted the app! I have no idea how she managed that, and neither does she. She is using OS X 10.5.8 I tried to reinstall it from the original install disc by using Pacifist (it is not an option to just install iCal for some reason from the start-up disc). But the version of iCal that it installs will not run. A message pops up saying that the version of iCal can not be run on this computer. (Or maybe it says ...on this operating system. I can't remember) I checked and the version that it tried to install is iCal 2.0.5 So I tried a system update and it said everything was up to date. how do I get iCal back? I don't want to have to reinstall everything.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have accidentally deleted Utilities/Terminal application By searching I have found that it may be possible to restore Terminal using Pacifist app. But there is a problem, because I don't have my CD/DVD now. I would appreciate if someone could place Terminal on the web that I could download it, or send me it in email. My OSX version is 10.5.8 (but I think it doesn't matter when considering Terminal app).
EDIT: Unfortunately it probably depends on OS version. Terminal from 10.6.2 doesn't work on 10.5.8. If someone has 10.5 MacOS version
I have both my gmail accounts set up with teh Mail app on my Macbook Pro , I went ahead and deletd a bunch of files, some that contain attachements and I emptied the trash, they appear to be gone, not really, if i restart the computer and start up Mail again and click the ALL MAIL box all the emails show up again!! and if i search a phrase or name via Spotlight all the emails show up again! I want the emails gone for good, I went into Mail Prefrerence and checked/unchecled all the necessary tabs, I also checked that I dont want messages saved offline, FYI when I check the email inbox via browser www.google.com / gmail teh emails arent there but they seem to be stored on my mac.

Well he got porn and he printed some stuff out. He then cleared the history. Is there any way we can recover that history? We have one actual image that he printed, but we can't prove that it came from the computer that he was working on at the time. What we were told was from another student and we can not just go on that for disciplinary reasons.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure why, buy every so often I get prompted to upgrade some songs to iTunes Plus for $0.30 a track; songs that were originally purchased well after iTunes switched to 256kbps for everything anyway. Not sure why that is, because everything in my library already should be 256kbps since I did the massive upgrade when it was first available. That aside though...
In the last batch I accidentally hit buy all, not realizing it also included 9 music videos I once had but deleted long ago when I decided to make my iPods for music only. So when I saw them downloading, I just stopped them and deleted them, problem solved--or so I thought. Now everytime the iTunes terms and conditions change, or iTunes updates, or whatever, it automatically starts downloading these videos again and each time I have to delete them again.
my sister opened iphoto on her G4 iBook and found that all her photos were gone. I did a bit of troubleshooting from my knowledge and found that her "iphoto pictures" folder isn't located under her account. Not in the trash, etc.
I've stressed the importance of remembering anything that she changed/deleted etc, and also to remember any notifications she might have recieved. She couldn't give me anything.
She doesn't back up her computer (i just backed up my parents for the first time today but not hers, oh the irony) and now shes stuck in this jam.
I have my Yahoo! eMail downloaded into my mail app. This works great and is not a problem. That is until I go to delete messages. If I delete them in the Mail app, they remain on my online inbox, and Vice Versa. I've tried hitting Sync Account in the mailbox drop-down menu but that doesn't do anything.
