When I try install it again, the TidySongs installer says I already have the same version installed. Does anyone know what I need to look for to get rid of all remnants of previous install (including js file and where this would be located). Do I also need to uninstall Adobe Air installer (which would affect Adobe Media Player as well)?

We got the battery out and it unplugged right away, but when I turn it on the screen violently flashes on and off. It does seem to run fine other than that, though.

Is it technically possible for Snow Leopard to build into OS X the WINE project, and have seamless ability to install and use Windows applications on OS X (without X11 cluttering it up - and with the realization it wouldn't be 100% compatible?) Windows On Mac :: Running MSN Using WINE / CrossOver?

Jan 6, 2010

I've been meaning to sign up for ages but only now am I getting around to it.Anyway, here is my question.I have been running Linux for quite some time, and am fairly adept at using terminal, WINE, etc. As with most people, I still cannot completely avoid Windows (Borderlands is addictive ok?) and I still use MSN, seeing as 95% of the people I know use it, not Yahoo messenger, AIM or Skype. Which is a nuisance for me, because while I like Adium, it really does suck compared to the real MSN client. And as usual, Microsoft pretends to be nice to Apple "developing software for it" while making sure its products are crippled so people either need to run CrossOver / Wine or Parallels / VMware to use it inside OS X, or create a boot camp partition for Windows. This doesn't make me want to use Windows, it makes me even more glad I purchased a Macbook.Ranting aside, I find the Wine client for Mac kind of 2nd rate compared to the Linux version.Installing winetricks fails miserably, where on Linux it was simple. Also, the lack of a decent DMG file or package makes installing it that little bit more difficult, I've never had good luck at installing things via terminal, even on Linux. My question is, has anyone found a way to install Wine and Winetricks on Mac to install MSN messenger?-IMPORTANT NOTE-I have Adium installed, as well as Microsoft Messenger, aMSN and I've tried basically all the other clients out there. Do not suggest these as solutions. This is about how to install the OFFICIAL Windows Live Messenger on Mac OS X using Wine, CrossOver or another method.

OS X :: Is It Possible To Hide Dock Completely

Dec 5, 2010

I wonder if it is possible to hide the Dock completely. If you go to Dock settings and hide it, it will appear when the cursor near its edge. What I want, is to hide it completely - dont want it to appear all of a sudden and interrupt me. I found the app Dock Gone, which hides the Dock and makes it accessible via a keyboard-shortcut. Thing is, it costs $14.95, and I just want the dock to disappear.

Is there a way to do this? A terminal command or something? I guess there must be - Dock Gone is doing it somehow.

OS X :: 10.5.8 Upgrade Not Completely Installed

Nov 2, 2009

I thought I'd help my Dad out by upgrading his MacBook Pro from 10.5.1 to 10.5.8. I downloaded using software update. I acknowledged the restart request. After a quick 'reboot' of sorts I have a blue screen with 'Installing 1 Item', a 1cm pulsing bar and 'configuring installation underneath. This has persisted for 4 hours. A Mac friend recommended letting it run all night, but it keeps going to sleep. I am waking it every ten minutes.

I was thinking of forcing shutdown and rebooting in Target from my powerbook, repairing permissions, and reinstalling the upgrade from a disk image instead. I need to get into the drive to quickly backup the home folder, although I did backup a few documents that I think were important before all this.

OS X :: Spaces Completely Lost My Windows

Oct 31, 2007

I've played extensively with Spaces. Today I had 4 Spaces, with multiple Safari windows and multiple TextEdit windows open in Space #1 and in Space #3. I moved back an forth quite a bit, but then spent some time opening and closing windows only in Space #1, finally closing all Safari and TextEdit windows there.

When I pressed F8, Space #3 had no windows open! In the Dock, Safari and TextEdit were active. If I clicked either of them in the Dock, I'd switch to that application's menus and see my windows from Space #3 listed in the "Windows" menu, but the window would not actually appear anywhere in any Space if I chose it from the Windows menu.

The same with control-clicking in the Dock; the windows were listed, but would not display.

The windows for a separate application I had open only in Space #3 were also gone. I hadn't used them in any other Space.

I tried control-click-Quit on TextEdit in the Dock, knowing that I should get a "Do you want to save the changes?" prompt. It played the alert sound but showed me no TextEdit window or prompt. I couldn't view my window, save it, or Quit without saving!

There seemed to be no clean way out, until I tried collapsing all windows into Space #1 (by pressing F8 and then C) and then disabling Spaces in System Preferences. Instantly, my missing Safari and TextEdit windows reappeared in Space #1. My windows from the other application are back too.

I re-enabled Spaces and everything seems back to normal.

OS X :: Screen Color Gone Completely Solarized

Sep 7, 2009

So I was playing World of Warcraft with out the battery in since I find when removing the battery the temperature diminishes. But I accidentally pulled the power cord and my computer shut down. When I rebooted my computer screens color has gone all funny. This isn't the first time this has happened. The first time I just turned on my computer and the color was like this. After 3 months while watching a movie on an external monitor and accidentally ripping the monitors plug out of my laptop, it magically fixed itself. The second time was while I was in college. I walked into library, sat down, turned on my computer and it was back. I slapped my computer around a little bit out of frustration. Repeatedly turned it on, then shut if off with the power button for about 30 minutes, and again it decided to work properly after awhile.

Now this third time, while playing WoW, I've tried both previous solutions over and over again but nothing has changed. I've taken it in to apple store seeing as how i bought the extended warranty but the problem is the 2 closest corners to me have minor dents in them and they said accidental damage isn't covered in my warranty even though I doubt these dents have anything to do with my problem since those dents happened over 2 years ago. I've attached some pictures. The first one is how my screen should look, the second one is how it actually looks. The third is of how movies look, and the 4th is how my games start up screen looks. For some reason it wont let me upload the images. The only way I can describe the problem in words is that it looks like an imaged I edited with the solarized option on a cell phone. All bright reds greens and blues.
