OS X :: How To Record Video With Built-in Camera
Jan 3, 2010I'd like to record myself speaking for use on a YouTube video.
How could I use the built in camera for this?
Is iMovie good for simple editing?
thanx

Just want to record voice with my built in iMac microphone...guidance? Eventual goal is to use audio voice track for FCE, but want to lay down an audio track for a placeholder to measure length (time) and make some queues. Garage Band or something else.

My built-in external mic doesn't record any audio when recording at all with the webcam. I've seen that this problem happens a lot in iMovie and Photo Booth, but my problem is a little unique, in that it doesn't record audio when recording with any program, not just Photo Booth and iMovie. I've tried QuickTime and even YouTube's webcam capture option, to no avail.Â
However, the most puzzling aspect of this is that I know for a fact that the built in external mic is functional, because I can make video calls from Skype without any problems.
Every time I try to use my build in camera on my Macbook the green light that says its working comes on but the screen just shows up black. It just started working 2 days ago and Ive been using it on iChat but now when I try to use it it goes back to the black screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI know this may sound very elementary but there was no documentation with my Mac when I bought it new (except a thin flimsy pamphlet with very basic stuff in it) and the support menu comes up with nothing at all when I search for webcam, webcam or isight. Where do I go to learn about how to use the built-in camera/webcam as a camera and also as a webcam?

On my desktop MacMini I have a Logitech USB webcam. As it is on a cable I wanted to use the Logitech with the MacBook. I plugged it in and it is recognised as an alternative by Skype, but not by Photo Booth or iMovie.
I want to use it with iMovie to make a short video of a maintenance procedure, but I can't find any preference setting that will discover the Logitech cam, let alone allow me to choose it.
I was in the middle of a skype video chat when the camera in my macbook just stopped working. I'm not sure how to fix it, or what's wrong with it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince my last update in September or October (either to 10.9.5 or 10.10), I lost all built-in camera functioning. This past weekend, I updated to 10.10.1 (what a complete nightmare - that's another discussion) and still have no camera functioning.

For photo booth you simply have a black screen. Been told that re-install the operating system but will this wipe everything?

I have OSX 10.5.8. In the past, I was able to use PhotoBooth, but now when I open it, all options to take a photo are grayed out. The screen, where, I believe, previously I'd seen whatever was in the built-in camera's lens (generally whatever I put in front of the screen to photograph), I now see all black with a white camera icon crossed out. Skype works fine though. When I try to load iChat, it crashes unexpectedly. For clarification, I'm using the built-in cam and do not have external camera hooked up to it. I don't really care about iChat, which I never use, and am very, very glad that Skype, which I do use, is working. However, I would very much like to get PhotoBooth working.
