MacBook Pro :: Take A Picture Using Built In Camera?
Jun 5, 2012
I have a late-2011 MacBook Pro 15" and currently running Mac OS X version 10.7.4. How can I use the built in camera to take a picture? Where exactly is it stored? What is the file name?Â

whenever i use my built in camera on my macbook pro its dark as if there isnt any light in the room. it only started doing this after i tried to use the "rollercoaster" effect on photo booth.
I have an external iSight Web camera and want to use it with an iMac with a built in iSight camera. Can I disable the built in iSight camera and instead use the external camera?
Every time I try to use my build in camera on my Macbook the green light that says its working comes on but the screen just shows up black. It just started working 2 days ago and Ive been using it on iChat but now when I try to use it it goes back to the black screen.
My brand new macbok pro arrived today, everything works fine apart from when i try to open FaceTime/photobooth and the message "camera cannot connect" is displayed, despite having an in-built camera.
On my desktop MacMini I have a Logitech USB webcam. As it is on a cable I wanted to use the Logitech with the MacBook. I plugged it in and it is recognised as an alternative by Skype, but not by Photo Booth or iMovie.
I want to use it with iMovie to make a short video of a maintenance procedure, but I can't find any preference setting that will discover the Logitech cam, let alone allow me to choose it.
I am having trouble with my mac camera. It is suddenly just not working in any program including ichat, FaceTime, and photo booth. I have no idea what to do.
I have OSX 10.5.8. In the past, I was able to use PhotoBooth, but now when I open it, all options to take a photo are grayed out. The screen, where, I believe, previously I'd seen whatever was in the built-in camera's lens (generally whatever I put in front of the screen to photograph), I now see all black with a white camera icon crossed out. Skype works fine though. When I try to load iChat, it crashes unexpectedly. For clarification, I'm using the built-in cam and do not have external camera hooked up to it. I don't really care about iChat, which I never use, and am very, very glad that Skype, which I do use, is working. However, I would very much like to get PhotoBooth working.

I know this may sound very elementary but there was no documentation with my Mac when I bought it new (except a thin flimsy pamphlet with very basic stuff in it) and the support menu comes up with nothing at all when I search for webcam, webcam or isight. Where do I go to learn about how to use the built-in camera/webcam as a camera and also as a webcam?
Since my last update in September or October (either to 10.9.5 or 10.10), I lost all built-in camera functioning. This past weekend, I updated to 10.10.1 (what a complete nightmare - that's another discussion) and still have no camera functioning.

can anyone tell me if the built in camera on the new imac is capable of capturing video? can this only be done in ichat? i figured out how to take pictures using photo booth but i figured there must be a way to use this camera as a webcam without video conferencing or chatting. any suggestions?
can anybody help me please? i want to take a picture from my canon camera and view it straight away to my mac, what cable and software do i need to buy to do this?
Surely this is a pretty standard feature in laptops now, particularly with Apple's obsession with iPhoto etcDoes it come as an option? How do you get your pics off your camera? You have to connect a usb cable from the laptop to the camera?
I want to change my user profile picture to a custom picture on my hard disk - but can't seem to figure out how. It only gives me the option to choose from the default pictures ...
Info: MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
As stated in title, the desktop picture will randomly revert to a picture I had up there months ago, usually when I run the battery all the way down on my unibody MB, but also when I change display settings when i plug into an external monitor.
Do I just need just reset the PRAM or is there something else I'm missing.
BTW, I have searched and I know I only have a few posts...
i was wondering if Imovie HD has any tools to let me put one video inside of another. i'm trying to record guitar and i want to show the video for two parts at the same time?
today i'm setting off on an ambitious undertaking, building a wireless 3g modem (on the at&t network of course) that would fit into the MacBook airport card slot and act in place of it, therein giving me 3g internet signal anywhere i go. Only problem is, i have no idea how to do this, i was hoping you guys might be able to help
