Oct 29, 2007Is this feature missing in Leopard? I have icons all over the place. There's a new option to "clean up" but the auto arrange options are gone or at least I can't find them.

OS X :: How To Auto Arrange All Icons
Nov 23, 2008In windows, we can go to the folder options and choose "Apply to all folders" to apply the setting of a current folder to all other folders. I opened the finder, pressed the "windows" key and choose view > keep arranged by > kind.
It does arrange things by kind, but if i move or delete a folder, it does not auto arrange it again by kind. Can someone please elaborate upon this? How can I keep my folder auto arranged by kind?
OS X :: Remember Window Position And Auto Arrange Icons?
Mar 17, 2009Whenever I open the programs-section of the finder, the windows is always slightly positioned off-screen (about 1/3rd is out of the screen to the right). When I drag the window to a new (so I can see all) position, it always jumps back whenever I close and reopen the finder. Any fix for this?
Also, is there a way to get the icons to auto-arrange themselves like I can setup in Windows?

Sep 6, 2014How does one arrange icons from left to right a Windows. I would like the Mac disk icon in the upper left of the window followed by app and file icons to appear in alphabetical order from left to right. I know it will go vertically and then to the next row.

OS X :: Folder Auto Arrange And System Cleanup?
Feb 5, 20101: I can't seem to find a way to disable folders from auto-arranging themselves. I want to organize some of my folders randomly but I can only seem to arrange them by Name, Date, Label, etc. Some direction would be helpful, as I haven't used anything but Windows until now.
2: In Windows I had System Clean-Up and System Defrag to help maintain and keep my system organized/clean. Does OS X have similar programs or is there any other type of program Mac has for users maintain their system?

Aug 29, 2009I'm using Leopard and just reformatted my macbook. Whenever I drop an icon into the finder window the icon get placed wherever I drop it instead of being placed alphabetically. I can go to view>clean up, and it fixes it but I want it to go back to where it always just did it.
Also, the icons do not increase or decrease columns when I make the finder window larger or smaller, it just always stays at 3 columns.

Feb 14, 2012I have a finder window of pictures which I am displaying as icons, but I want to order them so that the most recent image is at the top. When I choose to order by date created, I get this new thing where the icons are in horizontal rows by date and many of the files are no longer visible unless you scroll to the right. Kind of like a combo of icon and coverflow. Is it not possible to just have the icons appear in a grid as normal, but most recent ones at the top, or whatever ordering method I choose?

Jun 2, 2014Macbook air, Mavericks os. since I've updated to mavericks, Ive noticed the MacIntosh Harddrive Icon on the desktop (which does change location), is covering icons of images underneath it. This is not only unusual, but it makes viewing the filename difficult. Why is this happening....it makes no diference how I arrange the icons on the desktop, one ends up under the HD Icon.

Applications :: ITunes Cannot Find Music Anymore (Mass Find Option)
Jan 30, 2009Yesterday, I had to re-format my external hard drive so that it could be "recordable" within Pro Tools, which wasn't a major issue, I just had to move everything from my Lacie drive to another drive, do the format, and then throw it all back on. It took a little while but this also included moving my nearly 60gb itunes library. Now that it is on the newly formatted hard drive, itunes doesn't seem to be able to find the majority of the songs any more. I've tried changing the music folder and a few other things, and there is no way I'm going through and doing the "cant find music - click here to find it" palava. Is anyone aware of a way that you can "mass find" all of the music in any way other than starting the library again and adding all the music (I don't really want to lose all of my play counts and ratings if possible!)

It is honestly a pain to restart and hold down the Option key then choose windows. Aug 19, 2010I installed windows xp on bootcamp and it completely screwed up my os x partition. Everything's still there, but when I boot up it's an endless loop of blue screens ... So I'm just going to reinstall.
I had to boot from, the disk.. And there aren't any options to archive documents, like there was when I upgraded my pc to windows 7 I did a clean install but there was a folder called windows.old.
Some other threads said that it does automatically and other says it doesn't.

Dec 18, 2008My iMac won't boot unless I boot it into safe boot. It won't even boot from the Leopard disc so that I can repair the disk and the permissions. Every time it starts up the screen would dim and then I get the message that I need to hold down the power button and restart the computer, which I believe is a kernel panic. I get this same message when I try to boot from the Leopard disc. I've tried repairing disk permissions while in safe boot and it fixed the permissions but still no luck when I tried a normal boot. I've tried replacing the RAM hoping it was faulty RAM as well as changing the slot the RAM was in and that didn't work either. How come it will boot in safe mode but not normally? I also ran Apple Hardware Test and it said everything appeared to be ok.
The iMac is a 17" Intel Core Duo, 1.83 Ghz with 1GB of RAM.

I created a public link (Alias) and it has gone into my clipboard but, when I click on it, to copy and then paste into, for example, an email, I don't have an option to do that. Therefore, I have to write the link down and then re-type it into the email.

Feb 26, 2009I was very excited like everyone to install new Safari 4 and the excitement sustained for a while. Ubiquitously, it is visually delightful meeting Apple Standards. However, I lost lot of plugins that I had for earlier Safari version. Plugins like: DivX player, Real player are gone after I installed the new version. It is not recognizing by itself if there are missing plugins and neither I see an option where I can install by myself.
