I'm incredibly new to Mac OS X (got my new iMac today) and was experimenting with changing the way the dock looks (replacing files in the Resources Folder) if someone with 10.6.2 would send me a copy of the Resources Folder under Mac HD > System > Library > Core Services > Right click on "Dock" and select "Show package Contents" > Contents > Resources.

I've literally just installed Snow Leopard on my Mac Mini and it went through successfully. Restarted my Mac Mini and it prompted me to log in, so I did and then the wallpaper comes up but no menubar and I can't see the dock when I hover over it. What's happening? I can still move the mouse.

The thing that I find very badly thought out in apple's implementation is that the furthest left icon on the dock (the finder one) becomes the top on when you put it on the left or right and there's no option to reverse the this. Now when you are switching between windows it takes much more time to travel with your mouth near the top and left or right than it would near the bottom for obvious usability reasons. So you end up having the closest to you those icons (minimized ones, stacks) that you will use less often to switch from one to the other, and the ones you will use more often such as the first few ones the furthest up. I can't see how people can work with this kind of set up and I am always amazed how some people manage to keep their dock on the left or right...

Having trouble accessing the App Store. I don't have the App Store Icon in my dock nor can I find it in the applications folder. I tried installing the Lion 10.7.3 update. I have a Lacie external hard disk that was originally formatted for PCs. I have some files there, but more importantly, my iTunes library is saved directly on the Lacie (I have everything on apple lossless, so they are some big files). I will keep using this PC while connected to the Lacie hard disk to syncro my iPod.
The problem is that I bought a mac now and I wanted the Lacie hard disk to be able to transfer files from mac to pc and vice versa. I have already read that I would have to copy the files that are on the Lacie, reformat the Lacie and then paste the files back. My only doubt is that if I do this reformatting, will I have any problems using the iTunes library while connected to my pc and iPod?
I just ask that because every time I changed any iTunes library folder on the computer, the iTunes would say that the music file couldn�t be found and ask me if I wanted to look for the file. I didn�t want to reformat the Lacie to later find out that I would have to �look for� every single music file, because that would be nearly impossible. I don�t know if I was able to make my question really clear�
After using Migration Assistant to transfer files from PC to Mac, I can not find the files on my Mac?

I have five different excel files on the dock (they appear below the line, along with the trash icon). When I click on them a question mark appears on top of the excel symbol, and "help" says this means they have been deleted. None of them were saved anywhere but on the dock. But I have not opened three of them for weeks, and cannot find any of them with "finder". I always save when prompted before closing the Excel application, and would never knowingly delete them, as they represent hundreds of hours of work.

A few days ago, I tried to open iTunes, and I got an error message that iTunes could not open because of error 13024. I tried to open skype, and I had an error message that it couldn't open as well.
Confused, I decided to restart the computer. When I got to the login screen, I entered my password and hit enter. The login wondow closed, but the login screen (the purple space picture) remained. I waited and waited, but it still remained. The cursor wasn't showing that the mac was working on it.
Frustrated after trying and retrying to restart the computer and login with no success, I started pushing random buttons dejectedly on the keyboard. When I hit the play/pause button, and iTunes started opening. The same errror message came up, but with it came the top iTunes bar, complete with the little apple symbol in the top right hand corner.
With that, I was able to open firefox, pages, and other recent items. But I can't open finder, and the dock is still gone.
Other issues that have come with this: history items don't save on firefox, copy & paste doesn't work for any programs, i can't sage changes I've made to existing pages documents.
I should note that my startup disk is full. I was in the miiddle of finding files I didn't need to delete when this all happened. I've tried deleting files through the "open..." function in pages, with no luck. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the issue.

I recently changed my Finder icon by replacing the .icns files in my CoreServices folder. The icon appears as it should in dialog boxes, but doesn't show up at all in the Dock. Instead there's just a blank space where it's supposed to be. It's still perfectly functional, but annoying. :-S
I've tried logging out/restarting, reseting the dock, deleting the dock plist, and creating a new user account (it's still missing on the new account). I'm running out of things to try, does anyone have a suggestion?

My mac has slowed right down with "start up disc full" warning. If I "get info" on mac HD it says capacity 249.72 Gb used 249.55 Gb free 166.7Mb If I "get info" on all users I cannot find more than 80Gb used. I have run Omni Disc sweeper and Disk inventory X and both show only 80Gb of files. I have used terminal to show all hidden files and run disc sweeper and disk inventory again with the same result. I have run disc utility > verify disc permissions, repair disc permissions, and verify disc. I also ran repair disc from the snow leopard startup disc.

I see that locate is installed on my Mac but invoking it does not always find what I am looking for I thought that maybe I need to update the database but $ sudo slocate -u gives me a command not found error. View 12 Replies View Relatedeverytime I launch fcp it asks for the serial number. Not so much a problem but it's semi-annoying. If there's a way to cut that out I'd be greatful to find out.
Second, I can't find the quicktime files i've exported. It goes they the menus and shows a progress bar and even stops normally like it would when the file is finished. I've check everywhere I can think to check. When I try to export under the same file name a pop up says "file already exisits". So I try a differnt name and we repeat the process.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have iTunes 10.6.1 running on MacOS 10.7.3 Because I was running out of harddrive space on my iMac (500GB), I had to move something off to my TimeCapsule. So I dragged my iTunes folder into the Data folder in the Time Capsule. (Time Capsule would not let me create any folders in the root directory so I had to use Data folder even though I thought that Data folder was reserved for the Time Machine.) My problem is that all my music files have an ! (meaning that iTunes can't locate the original file).
Current settings: iTunes Media folder location: /Volumes/Data/iTunes/iTunes Mediaunchecked "keep iTunes Media folder organized" I also tried moving the music folder with its many sub-folders to different parts of the Time Capsule. So now I can click on each song and tell the iTunes where to locate it. It will ask me whether I want to locate all the rest, to which I always answer "yes". But then it would tell me after half a minute that it can't locate any of the files.
