OS X V10.7 Lion :: Finder Not Showing Files?
Feb 24, 2012i copied a user folder from my old windows machine it was a ntfs hard dive to my dekstop. I can see the folder structure and the folder took a while to copy over but there are not files in the folders. They seem to be hidden?

Mar 22, 2012I have two NTFS external drives. I used to copy files through my bootcamp partition which is Windows 7. However, when I copy certain videos from my Mac partition. It shows up normally on windows side, when I get back to Mac OS, I cannot see them. Everything else are showing up fine, exactly for certain video files, with both NTFS drives missing the same files. When I connect both to another PC, both are showing up those files fine.

Mar 26, 2012Roughly two weeks ago I started noticing all kinds of unfamiliar system files showing up in a number of my folders. They are always grayed out and as far as I know have nothing to do with the actual folder. These are just straight forward folders and/or my actual Mac hard drive. Any idea where they may be coming from? I don't know that any of them are actual system files that might be important. The second link, the CODES folder should be the only file in that folder. Mar 31, 2012I have backed up my image files to an external drive. I use Bridge to view and sort images that came with Photoshop CS5.0 i have built some collections and would like these to move with the images on to to my back up drive so i can acess them from both my MacBook and my iMac, both are 10.7.3 mid 2007 machines. the images appear along with and labels (colours and stars) but collections do not!

Apr 28, 2012I've deleted all the movies from my mac and when I open my system profile it shows I have 42GB of movies somewhere hidden on my macbook. I've tried searching .mov in my spotlight (which yields nothing) and manually searching through the iTunes folder and movies folder (which are empty). Where I can find these hidden movie files -- 42gb is pretty hefty.

And when I create my own recent files saved search, it's hit or miss as to whether it actually shows my recent files. May 16, 2012I recently upgraded to OS 10.7 and now can't find my Time Capsule under devices to access individual files stored on it. The system is recognizing it under time machine and is doing full backups to it, but only the backup portion is accessible through Finder. How do I get back to where I can pull up the contents of the Time Capsule on an individual basis?

Aug 27, 2009I had a dvd in the drive of my imac and it had no idea it was there. it wasn't on my desktop and it wasn't listed under devices. I tried to open the dvd player, and it told me that there was no supported disc. After I ejected and reinserted it, it worked. Was this just a mac brain fart?

Aug 31, 2010Last week I put an extra hard drive into a powermac G4 - i didnt know if the hardrive was working or not, and I was asked to put both Harddrives in the one machine to find out if it was working. I did this and nothing happened. I changed the jumpers and still nothing happened.
the existing hardrive was being read but not the new one that I had put in, so I went to start up disk and changed the disk that I was starting up from to the other hardrive. It wouldnt boot, i took the hardrive out and tried to put the computer back to its original state and nothing happened. just a blank screen. I have tried pressing OPT and the hardrive appears but after this screen nothing happens. if I were to use the install disc, would this wipe the hard-drive at all?
Software :: Transferring Files From Lacie To Pc / Itunes Unable To Find Music Files?
Aug 15, 2009I have a Lacie external hard disk that was originally formatted for PCs. I have some files there, but more importantly, my iTunes library is saved directly on the Lacie (I have everything on apple lossless, so they are some big files). I will keep using this PC while connected to the Lacie hard disk to syncro my iPod.
The problem is that I bought a mac now and I wanted the Lacie hard disk to be able to transfer files from mac to pc and vice versa. I have already read that I would have to copy the files that are on the Lacie, reformat the Lacie and then paste the files back. My only doubt is that if I do this reformatting, will I have any problems using the iTunes library while connected to my pc and iPod?
I just ask that because every time I changed any iTunes library folder on the computer, the iTunes would say that the music file couldn�t be found and ask me if I wanted to look for the file. I didn�t want to reformat the Lacie to later find out that I would have to �look for� every single music file, because that would be nearly impossible. I don�t know if I was able to make my question really clear�

Apr 25, 2012I have my 15" flat panel connected to a Topfield 7160 PVR by an ethernet cable. The Topfield has a built-in FTP server. So, using the built-in FTP (read only) facility in OS X Tiger, I can show the Topfield files on the Finder.
Recently, however, the FTP facility has not been accessing all folders on the Topfield properly. Some folders are shown as empty when they are not. When I disconnect and reconnect, different folders are shown as empty.I have tested the Topfield FTP server with the Cyberduck client. Everything shows properly. So, there is an issue with the OSX Tiger FTP client and/or how it sends commands to the Topfield FTP server.

Windows On Mac :: Won't View .rtf Files On OS X 10.6.2 / Showing Error
Feb 3, 2010A company is sending statements as .rtf files. I cannot view them in TextEdit or Pages. I have opened them on PC's so I know that the files exist are are viewable on a PC. The error I get is:
"The document 'xxx.rtf' could not be opened. The file isn't in the correct format."
In smaller text below it:
"The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format."
I get the same message for both TextEdit and Pages.
(To clarify, 'xxx' is not porn. I replaced the actual file name with 'xxx' for this post.... just incase you were wondering)
