Dec 3, 2014I have seen other apple users with the same lament. The mosaic screensaver disappeared when updated to mavericks. I am now in yosemite.
Other notes said to type /System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework and /System/Library/PreferencePanes/DesktopScreenEffectsPref.prefPane

Oct 30, 2009I have it set to create a mosiac of a folder from pictures in iphoto. I have over 40,000 pics and of different colors. whenever screensaver is turned on it uses greens to form a picture.
Anyone know the problem? I deleted photos and then imported them again.

Nov 11, 2007Every time my screensaver launches, it shows the same image from my photos folder, and a progress bar which is labelled "Creating Mosaic Database...". It never seems to finish, and the screensaver always quits. When I try to change the settings in System Preferences, specifically when I go to Screensavers, System Preferences "unexpectedly quits." I'm running 10.5.0 on a 24' iMac 2.4Ghz.

Jun 17, 2014How to convert wmv. to mp3, then put them into itunes. I have found alot of downloads for this, but I get alot of "image not recognized" I've spent days on this and want to know how to make them "recognizable" without spending another whole day trying to figure this out, or is there any criteria so I wont keep running into this? cant just do the conversion in itunes. I have tried most of programs including VLC and other top rated ones. Audacity even seems cryptic to me. A friend said if I download WM Player but again they are "unrecognizable."

I have created a PDF of a showreel (Text + Images) and want the user to see one of these images when they have the PDF Icon on their desktop etc.
PS: I'm running OSX 10.4.11 Tiger on a Powerbook G4. I use either Keynote or Powerpoint to create PDF's.
MacBook Pro :: Why Does My Desktop Image Change Back
Sep 28, 2009If I change my desktop image, it often changes back to its previous setting next time I boot up. And- it doesn't remain constant between graphics cards either. (15" late '08 UMBP)
It changes when I connect external monitors, and it changes when I bring it home from work and boot up.
I just can't wrap my head around it. I have to change it every time I boot up, actually.
OS X :: To Change Application Icons - Image Type
Aug 1, 2010After applying an image to be an application's icon, the image does not appear but instead the image of Preview appears with the image's type (for example jpeg) on it. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong, other than possibly using the wrong image type. Is there a proper image type to use (I've tried pretty much every type but none of them seem to work), or do you have to change icons from somewhere other than 'get info'?

Jun 6, 2014I go into System Preferences, choose a new photo, close System Preferences, the old photo is still there. I have rebooted multiple times, closing all programs first, just in case something open is preventing the switch. I just cant figure this out, I have always been able to change before with no problem. The ScreenSaver is changeable, by the way, that works fine.

OS X :: Getting Default ICNS Image When Trying To Change Folder Icon?
Jun 7, 2009Tried a search but not be lucky so hoping someone out there has solved this one before.....
Been trying to change some of the default icons Apple provide with third party .icns files by opening the folder info window in finder by using the 'get info' command, then clicking the icon in the top left hand corner (so it is has the tiny blue halo) and then edit-paste in the new icon. Sometimes it works (have changed some successfully) but now when I try, instead of the pasted icon displaying the icon image, I get the generic or default icon image for an icns icon displayed, see the screen grab attachment for what I mean
Can anyone advise me as to whats not working correctly?

Jun 15, 2012I am dragging and dropping a logo into Mail.app signature pane. The image is saved as a jpg, when I drag into the mail signature pane it's file name is 'PastedGraphic.tiff'. I am assuming there is file format preference somewhere that can keep the image either it's original format, or convert to a jpg, vs. a .tif
Most other email clients won't display this format. .

Safari :: Drag An Image From A Page In It To The Finder And Have It Be Saved As An Actual Image Instead Of A Webloc?
Apr 16, 2012Safari used to let me drag an image from a webpage to the finder and have the dragged file be saved as an actual image but now all that's saved is a webloc file. I want the image saved, not a reference to the image's URL - do I now have to always use "save as" to save it?
I can understand Safari creating a webloc file if I dragged the site icon from the location bar to the finder, but to make the default behavior for dragging things that are parts of a page (not the page itself) as webloc files seems like a HUGE step backwards for usability.
Does anyone know if there's, say, a key to hold when dragging to avoid saving a webloc file or a defaults command or something to make Safari revert back to sane draging behavior?

May 25, 2012When a user copies an image from a browser into PowerPoint 2011 he gets text of a link back to the image, not the image itself. But if he copies from a browser into Word he gets the image, and can then copy the image from Word to PowerPoint. Same results with both Firefox and Safari. Behavior is new so I assume it relates to recent software updates but user does not recall accepting any.

Aug 2, 2008I have my PowerBook G4 connected to a Hitachi video projector, using a DVI to VGA adapter.
The problem is that the only projected image I can see is that of my Desktop image. It doesn't display the Dock, menus or any windows.

OS X :: MBP Hangs After Coming Out Of Screensaver
Feb 13, 2009I've got my MBP running the iTunes cover art as the screen saver, and to lock the computer when it goes into the screen saver. Every once and awhile, it'll hang when I try to bring it out of the screen saver to put my password in. The screensaver will be playing, then I wiggle the mouse, and the screen goes black, as it does normally followed by the username/password box.
But that box never shows up, just the cursor and a black screen. It's not every single time either, kinda intermittent. I've had to do a hard power down to get out of it, unfortunately. This doesn't cause any file corruption, does it? Anyway I've now set my firewall to allow incoming SSH connections only from my user, so that at least I can SSH into it from my iPod Touch, should it happen again.
OS X :: Screensaver Bypass Code?
Mar 18, 2009I have a MacBook I usually bring to work. My co-workers and michevious and always try to change my background, etc.
I leave on my screensaver password. I close the lid to my laptop to initiate the password protect.
So last night I came back from lunch, open up my MacBook and my co-worker comes next to me, it seems like she put a code, and then unlocked my MacBook.
It's either 1.) She know's my password or 2.) there's a bypass code because she typed something and it unlocked.
Anyone know how to hack it?

When i open up "desktop and screensaver" menu, it always open screensaver by default. It is a bit annoying to me, simply because i never use the screensaver.
And i remember a time when Desktop was always the first screen by default.
It pisses me off and i'm seriously thinking of reinstalling Mac OS X...(ok, just kiddin! :P)
Anyway, if someone have a solution to this simple and little thing, i would gave him all my gratitude and even pay him a beer in the afterlife. (You may have to remind me though)

OS X :: Screensaver Wont Activate
Feb 25, 2010My late '08 MBP (10.6.2 OSX) seems to be having issues with the screensaver not coming on. I have the screen saver set to come on in 5 minutes (set in preferences) and the display to turn off after 10 yet when I left the room and came back 30 minutes later, the screen was where I left it.
I double checked the settings and tested it out again...no screen saver. If I throw my mouse in one of the hot spots, it will activate the screen saver yet the display won't turn off after 15 minutes.
