I'm looking for a way to be able to resize a window from any side. I watch some TV on my laptop, and I want to be able to shrink the window down to JUST the video so I can save screen space for work.
View 4 RepliesI can't believe I'm even posting this question. I just opened iTunes and the window is so big the bottom is cut off so I can't resize the window from the bottom right-hand corner. Clicking the minus just gives me the player controls and "x" of course closes it. The "+" gives me just the player controls. I just want to resize the window so it's say, 1/4 my screen. How do I resize the window when I can't see the bottom corner?

I can maximize to get access to resize but am looking for fix so that when a sheet is opened the page does not fall below dock. Even happens on new default spreadsheet.

i think that there is something wrong with my macbook display, but i am not very sure. This problem has been there since the day i bought my macbook so i thought there was nothing wrong till i read one of a post in this forum.
The bottom sides of the macbook screen seems relatively dim as compared to the other sides of the screen and specially prominent when viewed in a white screen. Is there something wrong with the backlight? Should i send to an apple service centre then?

I have an older MacBook Pro now and it seems to suck air from the top below the screen and out the sides. With the new MBP if I have my computer on a desk etc it will collect from the bottom on both sides. Thus collecting more dust and blowing it out towards the screen. This would cause more dust build up on the compents inside the computer and on the screen.

I just got a new Macbook Pro with a 15" screen. When I moved files from my 27" iMac the iTunes window is so large that I cannot see the bottom third of the window on the 15" screen. And I cannot access the lower right-hand corner so that I can resize the screen to fit the 15" window. Therefore I cannot see about a third of the music currently in iTunes. If I encounter the same problem with other applications or files, is there a solution that works for all occurrences?

Some weeks ago I dropped my MacBook Air (well, actually I couldn�t do anything, my bag was broken so it dropped) and got quite a noticeable dent in the bottom left corner on the screen (outside, you can see the dent while closed). I tried to live with it but with such an expensive machine I can barely do that. So I tried to find a replacement part, the display housing. But - I can�t. I can find replacement LCD displays, replacement housings f�r MacBooks, for MacBook Pros - but NOTHING like that for the Air. Seems like this is Murphys law, eh? This really sucks.

Our eMac seems to be developing a green tint in the bottom right hand corner of its screen. I've done some quick searching online and it seems that a few people have suggested a cold boot so it runs the degaussing process on a startup.
I left the eMac off for about an hour, unplugged. It did the degauss once it was plugged back in and "seems" to have removed nearly all of the green tint.
There are a few threads on various forums when I search on Google about this issue but they have no conclusive reasons why this is happening.
Could my eMac be developing a fault at all? I'm not too sure if anything magnetic has been placed on our table near the eMac so this may be the reason.
This only happens when I choose to boot into windows. The screen sort of hangs for about 20 seconds in a black screen with an underscore at the top left corner before even starting to boot into windows. I know its normal for this to happen for like 5 seconds tops, but this is happening for about 20 seconds and its dreadful trying to boot into Windows 7 because it takes so long. When windows is done starting up i don't even get any messages saying startup failed or something like that. This is so annoying that I even reinstalled everything but the same thing happened.

In Windows 7, the OS is able to resize the windows to where it splits the screen between the two open windows equally. I could have sworn OS X is able to do the same thing, but I can't remember. Now I'm realizing how dumb that was because I only boot into Windows once a month now, and I have only used about 10GB of that Windows Partition. So I have about 90GB free on that partition. Back on the OSX disk I only have 3GB free, and I need space. So, can I make the Windows partition smaller, or do I have to completely wipe it?

To get around this I always minimize open application windows before I play, then click them out of the Dock when I've finished. Some apps come out of the Dock as they were before (Safari, Mail) while others expand as if they were in an 800x600 environment (iTunes). How can I get iTunes to behave the same way as Safari and Mail? Why is it expanding with a small window when I minimized it BEFORE launching the game in question?

Running Win 7 Ultimate 64-Bit and OS X 10.6.5. Winclone version is 2.2. I attempted to enlarge my Bootcamp Windows partition (deleted, resized to full, and then resized again with Bootcamp Assistant). I've made several attempts without any success. I have two Winclone images (11/2010 & 1/2011). The latest image doesn't even get started good before I get an error about 2 bad sectors and the one from last year runs all the way through and gives an error at the end. I ran disk repair on the complete partition before rezizing back to bootcamp and it still didn't work. I managed to get a win 7 repair disk to run one time and ran chkdsk on the bootcamp partition that returned no errors. I thought I might be able to install Win 7 fresh and then do a restore from a Windows system image that I have, but I can't get my Windows 7 disk to work when using the Bootcamp Assistant (I get a boot screen with two options (1. & 2. with nothing else visible) at the install point of the process and can't go past there).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Mac Pro desktop running OX 10.5.8 I noticed fairly recently that I have a blank area off of the upper right of the screen where safari windows will ocassionally disappear to. If I move my cursor over to this area it will disappear of the screen. However on all of the other sides/corners of the display, the cursor will remain on the screen.What is the cause of the blank area off the screen and how do I get rid of it?

With Leopard's new Disk Utility, can a Bootcamp partition be non-destructively resize? Or is it still necessary to clone the Windows install, redo Bootcamp, and restore Windows?
I found my Bootcamp partition is too small and will need to be resized eventually (or, rather, games are much much larger than I realized ). But I really don't want to reinstall Windows to accomplish this.
Simple question to you guys with multiple monitor setups:
How does the OS resize/rearrange windows when connecting/disconnecting the Macbook Pro from the larger display? I'd imagine it'd have to do something since the resolution on the larger monitor is much greater than the MB screen.
The picture above is evidence of my self-corrupting OS. Those 3 problems are the same every single time I boot my computer. I have done countless re-installs of OS X Lion, even bought a new hard drive and did a clean install. Because of the self-corruption, I cant resize or partition my drive for Windows, with Boot Camp giving me a generic "An error has occurred. Format your disk and re-install Mac OS X" (Partitioning failed so I never wiped).

Why does the red button in windows' top left corner have different functionality in different programs? For instance in Messages, it closes the window but leaves the program running. In Reminders, however, it closes the window and the program and the same happens, for instance, in Disk Utility. Â
I am surprised that OS X-specific programs behave differently like this.Â

Those that have Windows 7 should know what I'm talking about. You can drag your application windows to the edge of the screen and Windows will automatically resize your window to take up half the screen. You can then do it with another window on the other edge and have 2 50/50 windows open. Anyone know of software that will allow me to do this on my Mac?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently went from a 24" iMac to a 13" MBP and I'm trying to figure out how to get windows to automatically resize when dragging them from my 24" external monitor to my MBP. Currently I can drag a window and it will resize vertically but not horizontally. Also, if I have my external monitor connected and have iTunes on it(or safari, mail, iCal, etc.) and then I close iTunes and unplug my external monitor and then reopen itunes at a later time it is waaay to big for my MBP's screen and I cant adjust the size since the corners are way off the screen. I literally have to wait tell I can plug my external monitor back in and resize iTunes to make it small enough to fit on my MBP.

1. The only way I can move from win 7 back to osx is to hold esc and drag the cursor down through the bottom of the win 7 window. Is this how its supposed to work?
2. I have set up a shared folder on osx and set it up on virtualbox but cannot mount it as instructed through the command menu.
3. Virtualbox doesn't recognise my pen drive but osx does.
4. Would it be advantageous to use win 7 lite as I only have 160 hd?
Excuse my asking seemingly simple tasks but I'm struggling with it, and cannot put anything on win 7 until I master it.
I currently have a macBook Pro with a 22" widescreen Smasung monitor. Is there anyway to make it so the computer "cuts off the sides" so it can make 4:3 ratio without stretching anything? I want to play an old game from 1999 on Windows XP that doesn't look good on widescreen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that the magsafe and the MiniDisplayPort are on opposite sides on the new Airs. It seems to me that this would pose a significant issue with the bundled cables on the 24" Cinema display (can the cable reach both sides?). I'm not home at the moment, so I can't really envision the length of the unbundled portion of the cord and the width of the computer.
