May 6, 2008When I receive a jpg (not a jpeg) from a mac via email it wont open in either outlook or picture viewer etc (win xp). But if the same image is sent to any other PC (from the ma user) it opens OK.The added twist. If another pc user opens (which it does with no issues) then closes and sends back to the failing pc it opens with no issues!

May 14, 2010It's going to be used mainly for work, which involves me having multiple programs at once open, including word, powerpoint, graphpad, endnote, internet, mail, and probably itunes.
Also, I play WoW and want to play SC2 on at least high settings ideally. I currently have a 24" monitor at home that I could either hook a laptop up to, or get a average gaming desktop.

Sep 30, 2010I'm very happy with my 2010 MBP 15" i7 -- very slick little piece of kit!
However, there have been a few cases recently where I had to force a hard-shutdown of the laptop (holding the power button for 3 seconds). This is not because of the actual MBP per se, but because of some software that froze and wouldn't let me force-quit them.
Anyways, I'm wondering, since I had to hard-shutdown several times recently, if I should check my OS for any weird happenings? I always, always do Apple > Shutdown, but I've been forced to use the power button recently.

Feb 5, 2009I'm running an iMac (one of the all-white, 1.83 GHz C2D machines, with 512MB RAM) and i've noticed in recent months it's become outrageously slow, i have no idea why but it's just horrendous.
I'd really like to start afresh with a clean install of Leopard, but only if it will make a difference.
Currently i'm finding that even with 2 apps open (eg Mail and Safari) there is serious lag now and again, and sometimes things lock up completely. Is this just a bloated OSX install or signs the computer is dying?
Anyway, i have a 180GB backup drive currently used for Time Machine, but if i reinstall then restore from that drive, won't it just restore all the bloat?

On Windows in paint all you do is paste the picture and then resize it by dragging the corners, is there a way to do this on macs? I can't seem to find a way to do this in preview. And in Seashore I don't know how to do this unless I manually put in the scale size I want. I simply want to drag the corner of the picture to make it the size I want, how can I do this?

Software :: Looking For App For Annotating Images?
Dec 29, 2008Anyone have some suggestions on a decent, small, cheap/free app for adding text to images? Photoshop is overkill, GC is so-so with text, Preview is nice, but defaults to fonts/colors I don't want.
I suppose I'm looking for something very task-specific. It should deal with helping to make the text legible if the underlying image is too bright or dark where the text lies, some nice shadowing, good antialiasing, etc. In short, if I want to make something like a screenshot of a browser window or something and circle things, add descriptive text, it should do that well enough for publication.
OS X :: Where Do Temporary Images Get Stored
Oct 14, 2009I recently purchased an iMac so I can do image capturing. I had previously been using a PC and moved to the Mac. The software I have been using has a Mac and PC version. When I do my projects, it saves a temporary image file to the User's Temp directory as a jpeg on the PC. I have attempted to contact the software developers to ask them where on the Mac it stores this file and they have not gotten back to me. I am curiously if anyone can point me in the direction of where to find this temporary image file. I realize that Mac's stored images as .png not jpeg but I am getting no response from the company's devolper and I use this file for my projects.

Jan 1, 2011I'm having trouble adding images in iPhoto. I want to create a book. An "event" was created when I downloaded the images from the camera but there are other images I want to add. When I drag and drop the images I want to add to the event ( from a folder on my desktop where I put them) it creates a new event, it does not add the images to the event I want them in. So I created a event with the new images I want to add and merged the two events but the new photos do not show in the bar across the top where the images are for me to add to the book.
What am I doing wrong, how do I add images to a event?
