Hardware :: Finding Fix For This Trackball On Third Party Mice?
Nov 27, 2009The Apple Mouse (the one before the Mighty Mouse) really is a clunker. I'm on my third mouse in less than two years and the trackball stopped working each time. Poor quality indeed. Was looking to upgrade to the Mighty Mouse but not sure now. Apple never was very good in the mouse dept. (remember the "puck"?). So, is there a fix for this trackball or any suggestions on third party mice?

Jan 10, 2010I have my Mini hooked up through a usb/minidisplayport to HDMI adapter. On my keyboard when I push mute or volume up or down, the computer shows the mute/vol up/vol down icon on the screen when I push it and it makes the volume sound, but it does not actually mute the tv or make the volume go up or down. Only the actual TV controls will make it work.

Not fussed about the keyboard. I think I have a couple USB ones in the loft. And If the mouse doesnt work I'll use my graphics tablet for the short term... But I do like my little tracker ball! And I would rather spend the cash on memory than a new mouse/trackerball etc.

Jan 26, 2009I recently obtained a Mini which I've connected to my TV for watching movies/etc. I don't have a keyboard or mouse on the Mini.I ripped a disc the other night (via a remote connection) and realized that I don't know how to eject the disc from the Mini without a keyboard, mouse, or remote connection from my MBP. I suppose there is probably some way to script MTR and then execute a disktool afterwards but what if I'm just watching a disc and want to eject it?

My problem is that I can't find a dvi-d cable shorter than 6'. Since the Mac Mini sits on my desk next to the monitor, I would like to have a short cable or one that would go directly from the computer to the monitor without an intervening 6' long cable. Have been using a Kensington trackball for the last 10 years, not the same one , but it finially gave up the ghost and thought the new mouse could replace it but I don't think so. This Bamboo trackpad does look interesting though but is a little an the large side.[URL]

I'm already planning on getting a Moshi palmrest to keep the top of the bottom case from getting all oily and shiny.
I'm also thinking of getting a Radtech Screensaverz to keep the keyboard from imprinting onto the screen and to wipe down the screen and case.

Sep 21, 2009I own an eMac (my first one) and overall, I'm extremely pleased with the machine. However, the fancy-appearing keyboard leaves much to be desired, and I'm looking for a new one. The Matias tactile pro keyboard looks promising, as does the Kensington, but I would be interested in everyone's opinion as to which keyboard has the best "feel." I'm not interested in bells and whistles, just basic utility and keyboard keys striking quality for long sessions on my word processor.

What are the main advantages of dvorak, and how long does it take most people to learn? Would it be worth me mastering, even though I am pretty fast on a regular keyboard?
