OS X :: Bringing Old PS/2 Trackball To New Mac - Possible?
Mar 6, 2009
I've not bought my first Mac yet , but I already have a question.
I have a Logitech Trackman Marble FX, Trackball wich I really like. However the penny dropped the other day, that it was of an era of PS2 - serial connections not USB - PS2. So when I do get my shiny new mini, will I be able to get it to work
I Have seen adapters like these and more expensive ones, but will they do the job, Although they imply they will?[URL]
Not fussed about the keyboard. I think I have a couple USB ones in the loft. And If the mouse doesnt work I'll use my graphics tablet for the short term... But I do like my little tracker ball! And I would rather spend the cash on memory than a new mouse/trackerball etc.

This has been occurring more often in the past week or so. I'll open a message that is from Person A with Subject A. The actual message being open will be a previous message from Person B with subject B. Completely different. It just seems like a database error or something. I am using Mail with my Gmail setup through IMAP. A restart does not fix it nor does quitting and re-opening mail. The message comes through just fine on my BlackBerry. Is there some way I can refresh the messages or something?

I calibrated my macbook battery the other day and it went down to 97% (shock horror), its 73 cycles and 8 months old. In desperation I smashed it with a hammer hoping it would fix it. just joking I actually drained it down to 80% and then charged again, repeated this three times. After the first time the battery life when to 4058 mAh, then the second time it went to 4090 mAh and after the third time it rised again to 4126 mAh. Original capacity is 4100 mAh

I've used the Logitech Trackman Optical Cordless until it broke on me, it work very well and I loved it. Using a regular mouse, even the ergonomic MX 1100 causes me great wrist pain. I plan on buying another Logitech Trackman, but I am just wondering if you guys know whether Logitech may ever come out with a new and better version?

I am noticing that my cursor freezes or should I say it stalls for 1 - 4 seconds after various operations like opening, closing, reloading windows, or switching tools in Finale, Photoshop, etc. I'm using the Kensington expert mouse (trackball) with their latest drivers. I used it on my old G5 before I upgraded to this Mac Pro, and it's worked fine for many years.
Info:
Mac Pro (Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.2), 3.2GHz Quad-Core Xeon w 24 G RAM

The Apple Mouse (the one before the Mighty Mouse) really is a clunker. I'm on my third mouse in less than two years and the trackball stopped working each time. Poor quality indeed. Was looking to upgrade to the Mighty Mouse but not sure now. Apple never was very good in the mouse dept. (remember the "puck"?). So, is there a fix for this trackball or any suggestions on third party mice?

The trackball in my Imac mouse seems to have lost a direction on it. I can track up, left and right, but not down.
From what I can remember from the last time I used a trackball it probably needs cleaning.

Once in a while the trackball or the keyboard loses its connection to the computer. The situation is corrected by unplugging the USB connector (the trackball from the keyboard or the keyboard from the iMac) and reinserting it.Here is the System Log from the most recent loss of keyboard:Nov 16 16:32:35 His kernel[0]: Hub in Apple Extended USB Keyboard

Does anyone own or have used the Wacom Bamboo track pad as an alterative to a Magic Mouse or trackball?I checked out the Magic Mouse and did not like it but could probably get used to it, the Apple keyboard I could never get used to and would keep my old clunky keyboard that I am used to using since forever.
Have been using a Kensington trackball for the last 10 years, not the same one , but it finially gave up the ghost and thought the new mouse could replace it but I don't think so. This Bamboo trackpad does look interesting though but is a little an the large side.[URL]
