I delete a large batch of emails from my inbox, empty the trash, and the deleted emails reappear in the inbox. This happens repeatedly. How do I get rid of these emails permanently?
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor the second time in less than a month, all my older than 1 week emails disappeared from the inbox. The ones from Sent or from my "On My Mac" folders are still there, but the Inbox has only 20 or so emails. I have an IMAP account that worked great so far.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a quick question...I really don't like the feature of gmail where it saves your sent messages into the inbox. Instead, I would like them restricted to the "Sent Mail" folder so I don't have to sift through my own messages I sent. Does anyone know how I can do this?

I've setup my Gmail IMAP account in Mail 5.3. I've configured my gmail account to only show in imap the inbox, sent mail, junk and drafts to get rid of the pesky "All Mail" box. Sending emails from Mail works fine (and they've been copied into my gmail sent box as well), but Mail stopped downloading new messages in the inbox after the initial setup. I don't have any filters on.Â

View 15 Replies View RelatedI've used Google's instructions to set up my Gmail accounts on Mac Mail using IMAP. The only issue I'm finding is when I have messages in my inbox, all I see are the emails that were sent to me. To see the messages I've send, I can only do this by clicking on sent mail.
Is there anyway to see my messages in their threads just by clicking on the inbox, just how it works when using Gmail via their web site? I can get the view I want when I click "All Mail" but then I have hundreds of emails rather than what's in my inbox. I've searched everywhere but have yet to find a solution.
While working with my ISP on a mail problem I deleted all of the messages from Inbox and Sent.Â
I maintain regular backups so I have the messages there. They are located at User/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/POP-(me)@pop-server. . . . Â
How do I restore them to Mail's Inbox and Sent respectively?Â
One of the side scrolls buttons does not work. I cannot scroll down to see my messages in the in box of Microsoft "the cloud".

Is it possible to sort all the messages in my inbox by unread status and then by date?Â
That is, I will have all of my unread emails at the top, but then the first read email will be my most recently received one?Â
At the moment, sorting by unread status means that the top read emails are the ones that have been forwarded/replied to, and then the most recently dated ones.Â

In old style view. Every time I touch a message, it turns to read even if I haven't double clicked to "open it". I presume this is because it is previewing but I don't want it to do this. Also, every time I click on "inbox" to look at my messages, the top message in the list automatically changes to read. Again, I haven't opened the email and in this case I haven't even touched it! Can I TURN OFF PREVIEW? I've been looking around but can't seem to do this.

I activated my gmail on my macbook pro (new mac user, older macbook). I can send messages no problem and I can see them in "sent" folder and receive them on other devices. But, I am not receiving messages to the inbox on the mac book mail. I was told to remove the account and then reinstall it, but I can't figure out how to remove it. Where I can enable mail so I can receive messages?

When I check multiple messages for deletion in my IMAP inbox on my iPad or iTouch, I get an instant screen message: "Unable to Move Messages. The messages could not be moved to the mailbox trash." The selected messages do disappear from the stack but what is this message trying to tell me?

I've been pretty slack since moving over to my mac book pro but now I find my inbox with roughly 500 emails in it and 80% would be junk from various sites I'm signed up for. I now have flagged all of these address that are spaming me as junk however the only email that moves to the junk folder are the ones I'm individually tagging as junk, the older emails, from the same address remain behind. Is there a way to delete my entire inbox of these junk mails without going through each mail individually?

I have a number of signed mail messages in my inbox. However, there is absolutely no indication about this signature visible. According to this KB there should be an icon, plus the possibility to view the certificate: [URL] ....
Other mail applications show the icon, so I am 100% sure that the messages are signed.Â
Is there a setting that I don't know about?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI''m using Mac Mail for all my mail account (4 of them) and they all work perfectly except for one of my account that is connected through Exchange. The problem is that all the mails are showing my name instead of the sender's name. Every time is switch to another mailbox and comeback to this one (which is my professional mailbox), inbox shows sender's name for 2 minutes, until it refreshes itself. Then, it goes back to showing my name instead of sender's name. Â OS X Version 10.9.3 (13D65)Â

My mac mail will not download mails newer than 30 days to my inbox.Â
Mails older than 30 days are downloading fine from my godaddy IMAP account.
I tried on another mac with the same result! Using another mail client than Apple mail or iOS mail on my phone works fine so the issue seems to be related to the Apple mail client (and/or iCloud?!).Â
Sent mails are synced OK so it is only an inbox related issue.Â
Rebuilding the mail database does not work. Â What to do next ?!

I am unable to delete the messages in my mail. I am now up to 287, and rising steadily.
I must have made some setting error, but I am at a loss as to what went wrong.
How can I get rid of these mail messages?
I have an iMAC...version 10.5.8 serial no. *********
recently I have been trying to delete files and I'm getting a variation of messages. Either it tells me that the "file is in use" when its NOT or it will delete the file immediately, bypassing the trash.
I would like the files to go to the trash first like they always use to rather than being deleted immediately.
Also it tells me i can't delete alot of files because they are in use. However, they are not in use or open at all...
How can I correct this? Is this a disk problem?
