View 3 RepliesI have a Macbook 2.4ghz core 2 duo running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and I've been having massive problems when uploading files both on a Wireless and LAN connection. When I try and upload to a site like myspace, facebook or anyother site with uploading options my upload times out and/or crashes the browser for a while (this is for larger files whereas photos don't upload in full). This seems to be primarily with flash/java upload options and happens when using Safari, Firefox and Opera. So far I've re-installed 10.6.2 and repaired disk permissions and also re-installed flash and none of these options makes any difference. I know it's not a network issue as it works perfectly on my 1ghz e-mac running Leopard Anyone got any solutions? It's completely baffled me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Yosemite very recently. Am noticing that ALL my browsers are NOT displaying page titles at the very top of the browser window. I've checked settings in each of the browsers I use (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) and have not found a setting to bring page titles back.

I have an application that requires Java. I had upgraded to the Yosemite OS. I installed Java 6 as required for the app. However, it seems some functions in my app still don't work. So, my question is does Java 6 work with Yosemite? I had no problems with Maverick OS.

I have downloaded OS X Yosemite and now I am unable to open CS5, EOS Utility and my Wacom. Should I uninstall and continue using Maverick which I had previously. If I uninstall will everything go back to what I had before with Maverick?

I upgraded to the new OS X Yosemite and within 2 days of my upgrade; I had a popup for me to update my Java Script. I went through the download and after the download, I still have the Java Popup randomly coming up when I'm online. I did attempt to go through the download again, to clear it up and also attempted deleting it from the HDD. I also downloaded an Apple Debug Program and ran it.

I have a little problem with one of my applications. The application is very important for me and I need it nearly every day. But now it shows my an error message. 'JVM terminated. Exit code=-1' [...]
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.4 and my system is up to date.
I can't install Java update, not via 'software update', nor via download from Apple support site. Always get error message at 'writing scripts', even with the camera update. Same thing happens when trying to re-install Adobe flash-player, which I had uninstalled after virus threat. Seems I can't install anything anymore. I had previously uninstalled everything Java in Safari and run Mackeeper duplicate eraser.

What has been released to install as a security update? I seem to be clicking on one web link which takes me to another and nothing to actually install. Typical Apple. Really wish I hadn't bought this MacCrap Air - I do miss my PC.

I was running java 1.6.0_33 on my Mac Lion and later I installed java 1.7.0_05. Now in my Java preferences I see both the Java SE available. Now my problem is when I enable Java 7(& select Enable applet plug-in and Web start applications), my JNLP file doesn't run with java web start, from Safari as well as Firefox. When I try running the jnlp using Open With option and selecting Java Web Start present in /System/Library/CoreServices, nothing happens.
When I try running the JNLP file from Terminal suing command /System/Library/CoreServices/Java Web Start.app/Contents/MacOS/Java Web Start xyz.jnlp I get following error
Java Web Start splash screen process exiting... Can not find message file : No such file or directory.

I made a Java applet with Xcode 3.2 and i load it to firefox or Safari(Yeah i've updated my java)and for example
i made a HELLO WORLD simple applet to be in black color letters, then compiled and yeah it worked but then i redid it for the letters to be red.. and they kept being black..no matter how many times i recompiled the applet.
And yeah the HTML is pointing to the correct class file. Also, If if i add a Thread and implement runnable.. then nothing shows up in the canvas.
And also, what ever happened with the appletviewer application? We don't have that anymore.
now the only way to run applets is through a web browser. Is java applet developement in 10.6 really over?

Since the flurry of 2012 updates, Java is completely broken on my Mac Pro. Java dependent apps don't start and Apple Support says to enable the apps in Java Preferences. Nice idea, but Java Preferences WILL NOT LAUNCH either. There were plenty of tools to address flashback and they DID NOT break normal day to day operations.I downloaded the package from support to try a re-installation, but it says "A newer version of Java is already installed" and offers me the option to Close. No reinstall, nothing. Apple support is at it's usual level of service on this issue, completely INVISIBLE.

I am trying to connect a Macbook Pro to my printer wirelessly. I can connect it, but it uses my other Macbook Pro as a server (shared). I cannot connect this printer to the previously mentioned Macbook directly, as I get the message; "an error occurred while trying to add the selected device. Unable to communicate with the printer at this time."
On the printer selection menu, it says the printers are "bonjour printers". The shared printer via my other Macbook shows as shared, and the (same) printer directly off my network does not show shared, so I think it is a sharing problem. All the printer sharing is enabled, so I don't know why it shows that it is not shared.
The printer is a Canon MP530 which works fine. Everything connected fine before I used this printer. I am running Yosemite OS X 10.101 on both Macs, but I don't think that matters because I had the same problem before I upgraded. I have reset the printing system, repaired permissions, everything I can think of, and I still can't directly connect this printer over wi-fi.The driver even upgraded with the new OS X, so it's not the driver.
I can print, but only using my other Mac as a "server", and it has to be on. I shouldn't have to do that. The main question seems to be how do I set sharing permissions when they are already set to share? These are my choices on the "add printer" menu:
-PS-736C74-U1 (Bonjour) (does not work)
-PS-736C74-U1 @ user's MacBook Pro (Bonjour shared) (works!)

My problem is that I can't empty my trash, I've tried every solution I've found on the internet, but none of them actually work. When I try to empty it, I get the message that the items are in use, but it is practically impossible, because they are some text files, but with weird extension in the filename's end, for example:
notes_102_331_2012-(ABC).txt/Zone.Identifier
There are like 30 files like this, and they are in a folder called "Notes", but every time I try to empty them, I get the message that they are in use, although everything is closed except finder. I've tried to rename the files, but then I get the error code -43. The folder itself can be renamed, but that doesn't work. When I try to move the files to another folder or drive, again: error code -43.

My MacBook air keeps slowing down and giving me the error message "Your system has run out of application memory". I end up having to force quit all applications and reboot, which fixes the problem for 10 - 15 minutes and then it starts over again.
I am on the road for work and won't be able to get to an Apple store until next week, but this is creating a gigantic headache for me. I found a bunch of threads on this same topic for Snow Leapord, but nothing pertaining to Yosemite.

I am brand new to Mac (I got a G4 laptop in trade to replace a dead windows desktop).I am trying to install Limewire and it tells me that I cannot: "could not launch application because it requires a version of Java that is not installed". It goes on to acknowledge that it can see everything up to 1.5...but that I need 1.6.
So, I go to Software Update and make sure that I have 1.6. It tells me that there are no new updates, that my computer is up to date.I think I recall being told that I am running Leopard on this laptop. If java 1.6 is available, and I do not have it, and my computer tells me that there are no new updates that my computer needs and will not automatically grab java 1.6, yet I need it to install anapplication....what are my options?
how can i force a program to use java 6 instead of java 7?im trying to use tekkit (minecraft mod) and i need java 7 for the sever but java 6 for the lancher?how i could force the lancher into using java 6?

Whenever I try to open a file associated with Preview by double-clicking the file I get the following error message...
If I open Preview first and then open the same file from within Preview it works fine. I've tried going into Info for various filetypes and changing the "Open with:" value to change it to something else then change it back to Preview but that doesn't change the behavior. As you can see in the error message it says "Acorn created this file on August 27, 2014"... what that means. I tried deleting the Acorn app but get the same error message..

Popup error comes up on my screen five times at a time and immediately reappears when I click ok. I'm using Yosemite 10.10.1 now and still had the problem before I updated. In the past I saw that this issue was resolved by uninstalling pharos but I don't have pharos installed on my computer.

In my calendar I get an error message "Server Responded with an Error - Access to account "Gmail" is not permitted". This is an old account which I don;t use. I have deleted the account in the system preferences, but the error message keeps appearing in calendar and I cannot clear it. At the moment i can't use calendar or access calendar preferences to see that the account has been deleted. Yet another error which has cropped up since Yosemite.
