I upgraded to Yosemite very recently. Am noticing that ALL my browsers are NOT displaying page titles at the very top of the browser window. I've checked settings in each of the browsers I use (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) and have not found a setting to bring page titles back.
View 4 RepliesThis is the problem I just bought a brand new 2009 iMac with 4 Gigs of RAM. I installed the iStat Pro app that shows whats running and how much things are going on. I noticed that the RAM indicator went from 4 GIGS of RAM to 940MB of RAM. I'm freaking out b/c this a brand new computer. Is there a solution to bring the RAM back to normal?

The problem started because the App Store says I have an app installed when it's not in my Applications folder. Where is it looking to see if an app is installed? There are no receipts I could find.

So far, this isn't going well for me. I have, at random points, had the screen completely shut off (go black) and no ability to bring it back on. I have also seen heat problems, and I'm really not doing anything except for outlook. Has anyone had the screen fail on them like this? It doesn't happen on the Mac side -- just when running Win7 in bootcamp with the latest drivers. Somewhat frustrating -- it just happened when I tried to open a PNG using windows picture viewer: bam, screen to black. I am guessing graphics driver failure.

Problem Description:
1. System prints PDF files very slowly, about 50 seconds per page, a text only page. Sometimes will just continue sending data to printer as indicated by flashing green light on printer – does not stop sending and printer does not print. Problem also present when try to print PDF files as sent by others over internet (eg TD Bank statements).
2. Unable to cause double sided printing using IMac – no problem with PC.
Trouble shooting:Took the same one page text only file that was very slow in IMac, transferred to PC using a memory stick – connected printer to PC using same USB cable – page starts printing in about 1 seconds – no problems.No difficulty in printing Word files other than no double sided. Think the problems started with OSX Yosemite upgrade and the companion Safari upgrade. Auto update for software is on and no new updates. Old drivers removed and new one installed Tried Apple internet chat to resolve problem – was unable – the user forum indicates others have had difficulties with printing PDF files.

All of a sudden every one of my browsers has problems browsing sites, particularly with web-apps. My primary browser has been chrome, with safari as secondary. The problem manifests in Chrome as pages that fail to load. Examples would be gmail and some torrent sites. Other times, I get onto the sites, but when I use a search function, it stops and fails. I've also tried safari (tries for a bit then crashes), firefox (refuses to start now) and Opera. Opera seems to work, somewhat at least.
I've already tried some things - thought it was a plugin problem since it affected all of the browsers so I basically deleted every one I could find and got fresh versions. No dice. In fact, when I throw out the latest Flash plugin, it seems to improve things, then I run into sites requiring flash, so I get it and things stop working. Tried repairing permissions on the hard drive - brings up a bunch of corrections all concerning flash. Tried deleting every browser and installing a fresh copy - no dice either.
Finally tried installing Snow Leopard again - not completely fresh, did preserve my profiles and files and just set up the OS. Since this seems also to affect stuff like taking a time-machine backup. Tried 3x to take a backup, and it stops after 2-3 gigs and becomes really really slow. Also, the whole OS seems to slow down - freezing at times - when I have the browsers going.
My MBP is set to go to sleep after 1 hour of no activity, the problem lies when I wake it back up and log back in (corporate network), every browser, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, all display a blank page, Firefox goes offline as part of this process, and when the wifi comes back online, (Telling Firefox to go back online) I have to refresh every browser and every tab to get my content back, very frustrating. Chrome displays a page that says "Unable to connect to the Internet" Why do the browsers have to go blank? Why dont they just sit dormant so I can come back to them?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo here is the deal, I am a Facebook addict. I log in more than I should. Lately I have been trying to log in, but the browser (Firefox) redirects me back to Hotmail. This also happened with me and Adium, and I used Safari to browse the Adium site. The Xtras link redirected me back to Windows Live login screen. I have ran scans with Onyx, and iAntivirus, and they have found nothing wrong. Could it be bugs from the browser's end? Or did my machine (late 2007 blackbook) be infected with something. (No I did not use the word Virus) This is really starting to get aggravating. I asked someone from Adium, and he said I may have downloaded malware, or a virus, which I highly find doubtful.

Have Yosemite 10.10.01...When I turn iTunes on it opens up fine and dandy and works but the screen fills the entire page and I can not find a button or icon to get out of iTunes! Page just hogs the entire screen. Esc does not work.
Only thing I can do is toggle back to a screen where I can access the top bar (the one with the black apple on the left - not know its name) and then go into Force Quit.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Mac has this weird disease that it returns to the first screen by itself after I've opened a couple of windows no mather what software or program I use.
It has nothing to do with my keyboard or mouse, because this problem occurs even when I've pulled everything out of the USB socket.
For example, when I start a movie with VLC Media player it starts over after 3 seconds and it goed to the start of the movie.
Anybody who knows the solution, I just can't find anything about this issue.

Half of the time when I go back a page in safari it shows that page I was at. Then, it goes to a white screen and I have to refresh the page do do or see anything.

When I return back from a page most of the time install of the original page, Safari returns to a very old page.
This seems to happen on Ars Technica's site the most. Of course on that site I do a lot of jumping atround to view all of their articles.
I have cleaned Safari cache, also history and remove all web perveiw images plus restarting Safari and reboot all without having any effect.
After my Yosemite upgrade, Safari has become very unstable. Constantly shutting down current screen(s) and or just sitting there loading a page until I get a "Safari Cannot Load Page" error due to servers not being found. Even on the Apple website this happens. Very frustrating when doing online banking and all info is lost when you have this issue happening upon an entry.

I opened an old document in word for mac and the pages are side by side. I cannot figure out how to go back to single page view. It seems like there should be a simple step.

One of the template I need to use in Pages 09 has a nice cover page but the background is burgundy. I need to change to something else. I have click everywhere on out side edge but I cannot edit the background. It shows the fill icon with a blue image looking thing but when I click on the fill icon I cannot select a color. The "define as media place holder" is grayed out.

And the search string will still be right in the window where I typed it. But sometimes after going to a link, I'll come back to this page and the page will be the same, but the search string is from a previous search. This is an inconvenience as I frequently go back to edit the search. I can't seem to reproduce it at the moment.

I have notice reacently that when i search multiple times in google through the web based search box ( not the safari google bar) and then click on a link to a page, visit the page and the go back page ( via the back button on the two finger swipe) the search term is not the same the same as the last typed search cryteria but corresponds to the first search term used at the beging, thus the result page doesnt have the link to the page that was visited.
