Jul 2, 2009For some reason I have now a voice on my iMac telling me what I close and wat item I open etc Also during I tunes listening musid the voice appears
How can i turn this off ?

OS X Yosemite :: Why Hearing Loud Foreign Voice Periodically On IMac
Dec 9, 2014Very infrequently a loud foreign voice will be heard on my iMac speaker system. I havent been able to really document it properly as it doesnt last that long and as indicated very infrequent--I believe I have only heard it twice, maybe 3 times in the last month.
It would appear to be within the computer system and not from any local transmissions. It seems to only last 5 or 10 seconds if I recall correctly.
I am concerned that it may be some type of hacking or something that has been put on/in the iMac. I believe it occurred while using Firefox.

Aug 28, 2014I am fixing this 2007 iMac for free for an autistic child. Apparently, changing computers for someone that is autistic isn't ideal. I don't have the history with this iMac, just that it isn't working. They supposedly did have the hard drive replaced? It sounds like a dvd is inside it when it starts up, could be the installation dvd?Either way, I have not seen it before where the Apple logo refuses to show on the start up screen. It just stays gray.
1. I've tried zapping the PRAM. Didn't have any changes.
2. I tried starting up in safe mode, but getting passed the apple logo is required for that
3. I tried single user mode, but getting passed the apple logo is required for that
4. I tried holding the c key to start up off of the dvd, nothing happens
5. I tried holding the mouse button (and cmd, opt, f, o) to manually eject the dvd during start-up.

The store where I bought the new optical drive from doesn't open for another few hours so, here I am.

IMac :: Unable To Install Windows 7 Premium / Bootcamp Black Screen Appears
Feb 1, 2010iMac 27" i7 with OS X v 10.6.x when I create the bootcamp partition for windows 7 and I install from my original DVD of Windows 7. I format the partition during the install of windows 7 and on the first reboot after windows 7 first part of the install, the screen shows the Windows 7 logo and says continuing installation and then a black screen and then nothing.
I have to hard power off the iMac and then it starts over says the thing about the system didn't shut down properly and gives me the option to start safe mode etc. and does the same thing each time.

Feb 19, 2009Odd stufff, I have a 500 gig Lacie ext HD that my user uses on her Vista machine...
I am setting up a replacement for the Vi$ta machine, which is a 24 inch imac.
I plugged in the ext HD and nothing happened after I powered on the ext HD.
I checked disk utility and it showed up but as a 2TB size ext HD...
I unplugged the Lacie and plugged it back in and all the info showed up correctly.
But ALL the buttons under "First Aid" are greyed out so I cant verify permissions, disk, or repair disk or permissions.

Apr 8, 2010I'm not sure how it got turned on in the first place, but the voice over feature on my iMac is driving me crazy! It says something everytime I click something on my computer Here are the things I've tried:
1. ReBooting (hoping that it will reset itself somehow).
2. Went through the Voice Over Utility and tried to turn it off, but couldn't figure out how.
3. Someone told me to trash the Voice Over Utility so I did that, but it didn't fix it...

Jan 11, 2011I installed MS messenger 8.0 on my MacBook and the only problem so far is audio.
When I make a call to one of my contact's computer using my internal microphone and internal speakers everything is fine.
If I switch to my bluetooth headset in System Preferences and retry the call I can not hear them and they can not hear me.
Using the bluetooth headset for Skype calls works fine.
Is this a messenger issue or ??????
