could it be a spyware? or malware?

We've been trying to download the latest digital copy of Mission Impossible from iTunes and have had no luck. It stops downloading and gives an error message (unknown error occurred (-50)) and have received (err - 8008). We've checked for software updates, rebooted the system and tried again, but nothing.

When trying to delete it a message appears "This file cannot be moved into trash". I have no idea what it might be, however I want to delete this file. This file might be seen on the desktop only, but not in the finder window.

I have a G4, dual 450, 1G Ram running 10.4.11. Recently after downloading and opening an .rar file, a file named .DS_Store appeared on the desktop. I have since deleted the .rar file, but cannot delete the .DS file. It is appearing now in all of my programs, including my camera when I plug it in. I've tried ClamXav, MacScan, and DnsChangerRemovaltool, also What'sKeepingMe, but nothing can remove it. Info says it's a document, 16 KB, and it reads as date created the last time I turned the machine on. Can anyone tell me what this is and how I can get rid of it?
View 3 Replies View RelatediTunes often tells me it can't save my library file anymore. When I check my itl file in the Finder, it isn't linked to iTunes anymore ("open with") and my permissions are listed as "you have unknown access". If I quit and restart iTunes it says the Library file cannot be found. A simple reboot solves this problem every time, but it shouldn't happen in the first place.

Yet this isn't really ISO-8859 but 8859-5 (Russian). File opens up on Windows just fine (I can see russian characters) and on MAC I get either some unknown symbols or question marks.
Everytime I open my iTunes I get one of two errors. The one in this title is the latest and it is annoying.
The second I think has to do with Genius, states it cannot connect to the iTunes store at the moment.

I was using Logic Pro X and the program crashed before I could save my project. There is now a file called "untitled" that appears to be a Logic Project file, however I cannot delete, open, rename, and move it anywhere. When I try to click and drag the file icon, it doesn't allow me to move it anywhere.
When right-click on the file, it pops up the window, but there are only a few options available. I went to "get info" and saw that the file permissions are "unknown". I've tried repairing disk permissions in the disk utility, however the file is still unaccessible.It's not a large file (only 578K), but it would still like to remove it.

I'm new to mac, so dont know if i'm doing something silly. But i'm downloading apple software in limewire (iWork, iLife, iSkull), whenever i download the files they come out in .exe or .zip, and when i unzip the files they turn into .exe.
These are apple software but i can't open them in .exe.
So Im pretty sure this is just my computer i have clicked on something to make this happen as it never happens at work.

when i down load a file in safari a download box pops up with the download and shows its progress, when this file is downloaded it then just disappears meaning i then have to go find the file where ever i have downloaded it.
this doesnt happen on my macbook at work
What is this and how can I make it stop???
There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it, they just download from safari.
In the last few days I have found that Safari automatically downloads files called "Unknown". It sometimes happens when I am using another application so it doesn't seem related to something that I have just done. Also I find that Safari is DEAD slow with some pages or part of the content of some pages. Here's what I have tried so far. I have deleted all the plist files in both the user account and the library folder in the system folder. I have zapped the PRAM, rebuilt permissions and restarted in safe mode. I have Resert Safari and Emptied the Cache under the Safari menu. I have also updated my antivirus and run it. The sites that load slowly do not behave the same way in Firefox, but I would like to use Safari for most of these most of the time. Any suggestions of a cure would be most welcome.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhile I was downloading a file earlier, I clicked on the Airport icon in the menu bar to see which wireless network I was connected to. As Airport scanned for wireless networks (it does it automatically after clicking the Airport icon), I noticed that the speed of the download dropped so far that it practically stopped for a moment. I tried it a few other times and got a similar result. Anyone else notice connection drops/slowdowns when clicking on the Airport icon while it scans for other networks? Is there a way to prevent this? I'm running OS X 10.6.2 on a MacBook Pro. I posted it here because it seemed more of an OS thing than hardware.

I have literally just brought a new 15 inch mac book pro late 2013 and just in the process of downloading the things i need however every time i go to download skype when i open the dmg it keeps saying in a small grey box "The Following disk images couldn't be opened.. "Skype_6.18.0.493.dmg/Image data corrupted" I have tried everything tried using a different browser, change the gate keeper setting to allow downloads from anywhere, right clicking dmg file and click open but it just seems that for some reason my laptop will not let me open up this DMG. I want to be able to skype my friends and family.

Before the switch, I could receive Vectorworks files via email and drag to my desktop and then open in that application. I was recently anxious to buy a game from the Mac App Store, being 40 gigabytes in size. The only problem is my free space. Having a 128 GB SSD, I have 36 gigabytes not in use. If I was to download the app, and get the grayed-out icon appeared in Finder, could I simply drag that icon to my hard drive and let the download continue there, or would that potentially corrupt files/break the download?

I downloaded the student discounted Windows 7 Professional from digital river, when I purchased it, the files came as a .iso file or a .exe file. I tried to download the .iso file (because I know I have to use disk utility and burn it onto a dvd) but when I click to download the .iso file (from the Macbook Pro) it refuses to download and text edit opens up. I have searched everywhere on how to download the .iso file but all I can pull up is how to burn the .iso file onto a dvd. What should I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the last week, my Mac has been running very slow. Even when I don't have any apps open, it still lags. I opened up Activity Monitor to see what is going on. I see that a root process "AgentDaemon" is taking up almost all my CPU and RAM.
When I try to quit (or force quit) this process in the Activity Monitor, it will go away for a second and then come right back.
Does anyone know what purpose the "AgentDaemon" serves? And why is it hogging all my CPU and RAM?
