May 4, 2010I don't know why but i cant seem to download zip files. Every time i download a zip file it won't stop downloading or it wont start.

Dec 5, 2010So Im pretty sure this is just my computer i have clicked on something to make this happen as it never happens at work.
I have a mac mini running the most up to date version of snow leopard
when i down load a file in safari a download box pops up with the download and shows its progress, when this file is downloaded it then just disappears meaning i then have to go find the file where ever i have downloaded it.
this doesnt happen on my macbook at work

Feb 3, 2012i went and opened the app store application on my mac pro. i saw the app for downloading Lion 10.7.3. at present i have Lion 10.7.2. so i figured, well, i already purchased Lion, so this upgrade should be free - and i clicked install. it asked for my apple id and password. i entered it - and it began to download Lion 10.7.3.
only then i saw the price tag on the side and thought to myself, "$&#%, what if i'm being charged for this?" so i went and did my "softward update" check. low and behold, waiting for me is 10.7.3.
so here's where i'm at. i have 10.7.3. downloading as an app (potentially i'm PAYING for it!), and i have it "paused" right now. i want to simply install 10.7.3 as an update, which i KNOW IS FREE. but i can't seem to delete the download that's paused right now (which I might be PAYING for).

OS X :: After Downloading And Opening An .rar File A File Named .DS_Store Appeared On Desktop?
Sep 8, 2009I have a G4, dual 450, 1G Ram running 10.4.11. Recently after downloading and opening an .rar file, a file named .DS_Store appeared on the desktop. I have since deleted the .rar file, but cannot delete the .DS file. It is appearing now in all of my programs, including my camera when I plug it in. I've tried ClamXav, MacScan, and DnsChangerRemovaltool, also What'sKeepingMe, but nothing can remove it. Info says it's a document, 16 KB, and it reads as date created the last time I turned the machine on. Can anyone tell me what this is and how I can get rid of it?

Feb 15, 2010I need some help with the mail program on my MBP. For some reason this morning it has decided to keep getting the same emails over and over again and adding them as new. So now I am up to 3000 new emails even though I have already read and deleted them before. Every time I click for it to check for new mail it just downloads the old ones three and four times. Whenever I click to download the proceeding episodes from the cloud, it downloads for a second and then stops. The only thing that I figured could be the issue is lack of space. So, I deleted some other tv shows off my Mac. However, I am still having the same issue.

Apr 22, 2012Since I planned to upgrade the stock disk on my macbook pro I created a USB stick backup of the Lion OS using Lion recovery disk assistant. It built a bootable copy of my Lion OS. I replaced the drive, booted from the USB stick Lion, formatted the new drive with disk utility with one OSX partition, and bunch of Linux partitions for the planned dual/triple/etc. boot. I then used the recovery disk menu to reinstall OSX on the new disk. It took off and started the download just like while booting with R key or from the recovery partition AGAIN!. This is a 2 hour proposition and is totally ridiculous. I need to be able to reinstall without downloading Lion every time. how to stop this new Apple invention from doing this download?

Sometimes I am on an internet connection where my downloading is limited and I don't want to be wasting the bandwidth on multiple updates that I don't need that urgently. I feel like earlier versions of OS X never started downloading the update without your permission to start the updating process. Before screwing things up, when I clicked on a file to download, a pop-up box would appear asking me if I wanted to open the file and unzip it or save it.Now, when I click on a file to download, it automatically starts downloading and does not unzip it.Does anyone know what I screwed up?

Jun 18, 2009I have a mac mini with 10.5.6 leopard installed connected thru hdmi cable I believe it's called to my samsung LCD display.
Now the problem is when 10.5.7 was introduced I suffered display resoultion problems like some other people too who have the mac mini. I spoke to apple who said they were aware of the issue and for me to do a archive and install to go back to 10.5.6. Which I did. They told me that they will send the info to apple engineers in the USA so they can work on a fix. This was all discussed when 10.5.7 was released. Now that new safari has been launched safari4. I am unable to download this as it asks me to install 10.5.7. I spoke to apple last night who said they still don't have any updates on this issue yet. They said they will try look into this and get back to me. In the mean time I an stuck with current version of safari I have and a less secure 105.6 OS. As I believe 10.5.7. Improves security on my system.

Feb 25, 2012Why does Mac OX 10.6.8 keep making copies of a file anytime I download, copy, or move a file? It will copy, dowload or move the file, then begin making copies until I reboot. This makes it impossible to deal wit hfiles unless I want to spend a lot of time rebooting after every time, then deleting all the redundant copies.
