OS X :: Trouble With Photoshop While Trying To 'Save As'
Oct 16, 2009
I installed SL the day it was released and am having several issues that I cannot figure out.The installation was over Leopard on a 2.93 GHz 24" iMac with 4GB ram. I'm having the most trouble with Photoshop while trying to "Save As". Photoshop will just crash hard and close without saving any of the changes I made to the file. I've tried saving to alternate locations (i.e. desktop, etc) but still get the same crash.
Another little annoying quirk is when I need to confirm an installation, the text in the window is garbage.
I have a 2.8 eight core Mac Pro. Recently I was copying home video captured by IMovie to a WD external book drive. It froze and I had to force quit the copy process. Now I am unable to use anything by USB except my keyboard and mouse. The computer will only occasionally recognize and record files from a thumb drive or a photo card. I don't know if I have a software or a hardware problem.
I have a an old G4 running Mac 10.3.5 that I need to update to 10.3.9 to run a program. The machine has a long boot time so I'm worried it might die soon.
Anyways I am wondering if I should click "repair permissions" and/or "verify permissions" before I do the 10.3.9 combo update. Will this increase the chances that the 10.3.9 update will not cause problems? Or can repairing permissions itself cause trouble?
I have never repaired or verified permissions on this machine.
when I put my usb stick in my mac under the search for section in the finder my pics and docs come up. As soon as I take my usb out they all disappear. Does this mean that they are on my mac or usb.Im really having trouble understanding the relationship between the OS and USB.
So I just installed an Intel x25-M into the hard drive bay of my MBP 15" i7, and put the stock HDD into the optibay.Installed OSX onto the SSD, wiped the HDD clean, everything seems to be working perfectly.Disabled SMS, disabled hibernation, all fine. I would like to enable noatime, but for the life of me can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
After I restart, I check the status of naotime in terminal (as directed) but all I see is "hfs, local, journaled" and there is no indication of noatime.
I looked through a few pages of threads and did not see this so here I go.Is there a problem with the new iMac and their airport card? I bought a new iMac 21.5" to replace my 20" early 2007 model and the internet stayed connected to my router for maybe the first few days but now it keeps disconnecting. It sometimes will reconnect once I turn the card off and then on again other time I need to restart the computer to get it to connect. There have even been a few times when a restart does nothing for the problem. This problem is not just a once in awhile thing. Just this morning, I worked on my computer for like 20 minutes and it disconnected itself about 5-6 times while just downloading some music in iTunes and surfing this forum.
Is this just me? or is this a wide spread problem? I want to know so I can take it to the Genius Bar if this is just me to have them fix it.
Been trying different online backup programs, but hit a glitch when installing programs.SafeCopy gives me an - Install Failed - The Installer could not write the receipt for "safecopyPostflight".I also get a could not write Receipt Error, when I try to install Carbonite.I called Tech Support for both companies, they had others that had same problems, but other than wipe the drive and start with a fresh OS X install, offered no solution.
I'm about to purchase a Epson R1900 A3 printer, than doesn't come with a USB cable or anything to conntect it to my Mac. I own a wireless printer already that has wireless built in, and would really like to have my A3 printer wilress but I'm having trouble finding a good adapter ( printer server) that is cheap ( i.e. a little more than a good quality USB cable )
Any ideas/reccomendations as to where I can get one ?
i recently bought a Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 512M GDDR5 PCI-E DUAL DVI-I/TVO SKU# 21133-00 S/N 180825044742 flashed with mac firmware.
The instructions said to take out my existing card put the sapphire in slot 1, then boot up and install drivers.
So i took my Nvidia 7300 GT card out of slot 1 and put in the 4870, then started up. I get the grey start up screen with the apple in low resolution for about 8 sec, then the screen just goes blank.
What am i doing wrong?... do i need to keep the Nvidia 7300 GT in slot 2, then boot up connected to that first?
I have been having trouble with accidental trackpad input on my Macbook Pro mid-2009, and I can't find any way to deal with it in the trackpad preference pane. I seem to remember that there was a way to turn on "ignore accidental input" but I can't find it now. Anyone seen that in Snow Leopard 10.6.2?
Whenever i load any videos or play any games on my macbook air, the game or the video runs really slow and jumps. The trackpad also jumps and the computer is just generally slower and not as smooth. What is the problem and is there anything i can do to fix it.
I'm having trouble with my upload speed, it isn't my network it must be my macbook because I've had excellent upload speeds on my PC and ****** on my mac. It rarely uploads and when it does it's usually slow. I use uTorrent 1.0 for my macbook. Anyone else have this same issue?
(Also all of my torrent downloads are legal and not copyrighted)
I've been trying to buy it since yesterday but the 1password site,[URL]seems to be down for me.Can anyone else access it, or is the site having problems? (One would hope they're not security problems )
when my PowerBook (15", bought new in Aug 2004) wakes from sleep, the harddrive makes a dreaded tapping/clicking sound. It's very prominent and is not your standard HDD "chatter."Often, Finder will hang and I'm forced to power-cycle the machine. Most of the time, it boots without incident.Lately, however, there have been incidents. Tonight, when I got home, it froze. I tried to power-cycle it, but got nothing. I plugged it in.
About a week ago I got a DrayTek Vigor 2910VG router. The thing's a dream in terms of features (VoIP, Dual WAN, USB port, etc.), but WLAN has been a complete headache. After a fresh restart of my iMac (see my sig for the computers on my home network, all of which are affected by this problem), I can usually connect to the WPA/WPA2-encrypted WLAN. Then, for reasons I can't determine, I will lose all access to the Internet and to other computers on the local network.
I have the base model 13" MBP in my possession, but I have been trying to return it for a 13" 2.53ghz machine since last Friday. And even until today, they have been out of stock of this particular model. I have called all the Apple Stores in my area and they have been out of stock for about 5-6 days. I checked the online store and all 2.53ghz models (13" or 15") are backordered 5-7 days. All other models ship within 24 hours.
So, what are your experiences at your Apple Store in regards to the stock of 13" 2.53ghz model? Are the higher end 13" selling this well, or could there be a problem producing/sourcing enough 2.53ghz processors?I will continue to wait until they are back in stock until then.
SMART is telling me my hard drive is going to fail plus it has been having trouble starting up recently. It usually takes 3 tries for it to start and it takes a really long time. I've tried repairing permissions and zapping p-ram. I'm using carbon copy to completely clone my hard drive onto my external.
Once I buy a new hard drive, how can I transfer all data back onto it in the easiest way possible? Can use my snow leopard disc to format the drive and then is there a way to just transfer all data from my external onto it?
I have a G4 10.4.11 and I tried installing my wife's Leopard 10.5. After I inserted the DVD the computer started the typical ''restart'' process. Once the computer turned into the installing screen, it informed me that I had to have a 10.5 version installed in order to install this version. At this point it only offered me two options... "continue" with the installation (which only led to the same message) and "cancel" which was the option I chose. Once I clicked on cancel, it offered me 2 sources to start my computer on... the DVD and OSX (which had the mac classic icon on).... i clicked OSX.
Now, every time I turn on my computer I see the following icon flashing on a grey screen for about 3 minutes: (URL)
Followed by these 2 folder icons also flashing after the other for another 2 minutes: (URL) (URL)
Also my mac has been freezing up a lot during the past month... I have to pull the plug out... I added 2 memory cards a while back each 256mb but apparently didn't make a difference... any tips on how can I cleanse my computer out of hidden useless files that might be eating up the memory?
I have a brand new iMac running 10.7.4 bound to AD with mobile accounts to be created at login. We've had dozens of users log into this Mac with their AD credentials with no problems. Login proceeds as expected, home folders are created, etc. One user cannot log in. The login window will freeze (spinning beach ball) after he enters his credentials and the computer has to be manually shut down. After a restart you can see that his home directory has been created, with proper permissions, but he still cannot log in (spinning beach ball). However, he CAN log onto other AD bound Macs, just not this one. And he CAN log onto a bound Windows machine, so apparently there's nothing wrong with his account. There is no OD server in the mix. The computer is bound to our AD domain only. The system log shows the proper UID but indicates that the user name can't be found. But then the user folder (with the correct name) is created anyway. Later there is an entrry that the UID can't be found.
OK so i currently bought a brand new 24" imac and am trying to print from my MP610.The printer is running off a wireless network and i have no trouble finding or connecting to it.I downloaded the most recent drivers from the canon website,( 6.9.3) and installed them. However the problem is i cant seem to find them anywhere in the computer. The driver does not show up in the selected driver list, and i can't see to find it manually either.
When I right click to save a picture online, it doesn't give me the opportunity to save something as a JPEG. I instead have to save it as a preview and then export it to JPEG. This seems like something relatively new.
After the security update I can no longer save or save as in Adobe Illustrator. The program has become useless. I tried the Rosetta Fix to no avail. How can I fix this?
If I do not use Time Machine, and open a new document in Pages, and type for ten minutes, and close the document, and click "Don't save" by mistake, is there any Auto Save or Versions of that document or just 100% out of luck? url...but I don't get any clear yes or no from it.
I have been unable to save or save as in any of the programs, when I try and save which ever application I am in, crashes. I have not had this issue happen before. I have googled it and I get results relating to print spooling ( on pc). I would like to know how I can set print spooling on macs.
Since upgrading to Lion, I can't save changes or even save new documents in Pages on my laptop. When I try to save, I get the dialog box: "The document “Untitled 2” could not be saved as “Untitled 2”. Permission denied" I can't find anything in Pages preferences or in the System preferences where this setting can be changed if it is a setting.
i'm having trouble with some QT that I try to open. When I open the file, I get this message saying:
"Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media. It may be available from QuickTime Components page. "
I click [Continue] and it takes me to this page, which is a bunch of downloadable QuickTime Components. I don't know which component to download to fix my problem!
I guess there's one more thing that will probably help resolve this problem... I don't see any video just heard audio
Also, I am currently running: QuickTime Pro Version 7.5.5 (249.13)
I selected the Movie Inspector? at "format" the info says: Uncompressed 10-bit 4:2:2, 720 x 486, Millions IMA 4:1, Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz
I successfully partitioned my new imac and started the windows install with xps2, however at the stage of entering the key I discovered I was missing a digit..sooo I had to shutdown the imac manually. I managed to get macosx operating again and removed the partition in the hope of starting again with another disk (xps3) only to discover that as soon as put the disk in and started the installation (through bootcamp) I just got a black screen with a flashing white cursor in the top left hand corner. I have tried reinstalling macosx but still have same problem (I didn't wipe the drive though).
When trying to Save a document, I am presented with the Save As dialog. The file name has a serial number added to the old file name and the default destination is the Documents file. This happens whether I have tried to save using Command-S or using the Save option in the File menu. This started after I upgraded to Mavericks.
I own a PowerBook G4 15-inch, been enjoying it for a long while now, having thoughts of upgrading it. Performance Question, Is the current Black MacBook (when the top of the range Intel processor is installed, and when maxxed out with RAM) faster in overall performance than my now aged PowerBook G4 15-inch? I saw a bloke take out his MacBook at a cafe recently and I was blown away by its compact size (weight is an issue and I'm prepared to compromise large screen size for smaller resolutions and less weight). Schlepping my Powerbook around in my large and well protected shoulder bag is quite literally giving me a pain in the neck. Software Question: Will I be able to run Photoshop CS2 and CS3 and Final Cut Express on the MacBook without wishing I'd upgraded to the 17-inch MacBook Pro - weight issues and compact form aside - instead ? currently I uninstalled CS1 from my Powerbook G4 800Mhz 2GB Ram because its performance sucked soo much, I ran back to Photoshop 7 and ImageReady 7.
