OS X :: Setting The Default Headphone Volume Level?

Nov 19, 2008

I normally have my MBP on full (or mostly full) volume, but when I plug in headphones, I drop it down to the absolute lowest (or one up from that) level. Anything higher than that is deafening with my headphones. Normally my MBP automatically dropped it down to about that level whenever I plugged in headphones, but recently its only been dropping it down to the halfway point. This causes momentary deafness as I hit play on my iTunes, forgetting its only halfway down, and additional deafness from the clicking as I frantically hit Fn-F4 to lower the volume. Is there a way I can set the default level that OS X drops the volume to when I plug in my headphones?

MacBook Pro :: Setting Initial Volume Level For Headphones?

Jul 9, 2010

The volume level for the built-in speakers is remembered across boots, but it is not remembered for headphones.

I.e. Whenever I plug in the headphones after a boot, the volume level sets itself to 50% - too loud for my ears and possibly damaging to the headphones.

Anybody know of a way to change this behavior? - To set an initial volume level for headphones?

I have OSX 10.5.6.

Mac Pro :: USB Audio Output Level For Ext. Headphone Amp?

Jan 17, 2009

I've got a Headroom Headphone Total Bithead mobile Amp., 2.66 MacPro, and Sennheiser HD650's (that are hard to drive). The amp. has a high and low gain switch. The low gain sounds better, but I can't get enough vol. when on low gain. I've got iTunes level up as high as it can go. I've played around with Sound prefs. and the Audio/Midi sound levels. They all seem to actually be the same vol. control.

I also see that iTunes, under "Get Info" has an individual vol. adjustment, but I'm not sure if I really want the sound files to be pumped up for when I use them on my iPhone.

OS X :: Volume Limiter In Headphone Mode?

Jul 3, 2010

I recently bought a pair of in ear headphones, Shure SE530's, to use with my Macbook Pro. The problem is that it has a very low impedance rating so even at 2 ticks on the volume, the sound level in the headphones would almost be deafening. I know that the internal speakers and headphones have different volume settings but I was wondering if there was a way to cap the headphone volume range similar to a ipod limiter. Where if I cap the headphone volume at like 6 ticks, it'd stretch out the whole range from mute to that level?

Apr 8, 2008

I want to connect speakers and a headphone to my Imac at the same time.Since there is only one audio output in the imac, I need a audio splitter and I think I need a headphone splitter then? Now the problem is there is no volume control on my headphone and I want it at a different volume then my speakers, otherwise when I turn my speakers on and the headphones are still connected and I turn volume up loud it will ruin my headphone ( and I don't want my software volume almost down and my speaker control way up)Now I found this headphone splitter, but my question is, will the sound quality still be the same because I need the same sound quality.
I know it's a difficult story,

My internal drive does not work and I want to install Windows XP on Parallels but it keeps looking for the cd on the internal drive. I tried making an .iso image of it and telling it where it is, but it still keeps looking for the internal cd drive.

Hardware :: Setting New Default Printing Preferences

Apr 4, 2010

I've looked all over; the only thing support can tell me is "it depends on what brand you buy." Anyways, I have a color laser printer. Works great, but most of the time I'm just printing materials off the internet and some documents for work. Therefore I do not need it to be printing in full blown color. Especially not for sites where the author decided to use dark purple or blue text (or some other color from which I can't tell from a glance that it's not black). Right now the only way to do this to manually go into the printing preferences each time to choose B&W only. Likewise, I also have to go and check the Duplex box manually. All this is very tedious when you have do it every time. Can anyone provide some insight into making this easier? Maybe how to set the default preferences so they can be used each time?
